  1. Started by irishmike,

So I just got delivery of my Flirc. I downloaded the software off the site, V 1.2.4, connected the Flirc, it installed all the drivers but still cannot connect through the GUI. The Flirc is appearing in my device manager fine. I have tried Installing the driver manually again, and using the zadig method but it still is not working. Have tried both USB 3 and 2 ports on the laptop - no joy. It's a Win 7 64 bit machine. Any ideas what to try next, it's not much use If I cannot connect to it!!

  2. Started by rschildt,

I'm trying to use the Flirc addon for XBMC. Using the Gotham RC, I get an error message: "The FLIRC addon is not designed to run on your hardware" What does this mean? I'm running Win8.1 Pro on a Intel i5 using Intel HD 4600.

  4. Hello all, Just purchased a new Flirc and the device looks promising, but I'm having an issue I haven't been able to resolve via searching the forum. I have an HTPC / Media Server that I plan to run Windows Media Center on (for live and recorded TV, my cable company makes this the only usable software for DVR functionality) and either XBMC or Plex (I don't really care which) for all other local media / music. I want to program a FLIRC to interact with my Harmony One remote in BOTH programs and be able to switch profiles when I select the 'Watch WMC' or 'Watch XBMC' activities on the remote. Is this even remotely possible? The only solution I've found is somewhat advan…

  5. Hi, Just bought another flirc. First flirc was easy(apart from having to do the control+F and control+B work around). 2nd flirc nightmare. Foolishly I upgraded the firmware as soon as I received it, 2.5 I think, and latest GUI, off the web. I'm using windows 7 32bit and a Hauppauge remote. Using with media center. 1st problem: Can't record off the GUI. Stuffed around with drivers and shit but no dice. Had to be all done through CMD. GUI says it works but it doesn't. 2nd problem: Can't delete through CMD. Says it did, but it didn't. I would delete the index key under settings but the key I'm trying to delete was recorded under record_api and they aren't coming up, j…

  6. Started by Budwyzer,

I have all the keys I absolutely NEED. But in order to type stuff when searching in Netflix or something I have to use the bluetooth keypad and OMG does it have a bad connection! It has to have a clear LoS to the receiver and you cant cover the back with your hand. So, what I'm wondering is why am I limited from programming the entire keyboard from my remote into the Flirc? Is there not enough physical memory? Or was it just not something that was foreseen to ever be an issue? There's my TV remote. Full keyboard and even has game buttons! Being able to use it as a backup controller for Inde games on Steam would be great too!

  7. Started by ngordonmd,

So I just bought a new remote and went to reprogram everything including my Flirc. First I had several problems with getting errors such as "button already exists". So deselected all the profiles and forced an FW upgrade. Now I am not getting any response from the Flirc when trying to program the buttons. The software program says that it is connected but when I go to program a button, the Flirc does not seem to receive the command. I have tried with several different remotes at varying lengths and angles with no success. I have tried restarting, reinstalling, different USB ports, but nothing seems to work. I have also tried the software on Mac OSX and windows 7 through p…

  8. Hi I have a media player that runs android and I want to use the FLIRC to control it. it works fine when the player is on, but when it goes to sleep, I can't wake it up with the FLIRC. If I connect a keyboard and then let it go to sleep, I can keep the Enter key pressed for a short while (2-3 seconds) and then the player wakes up again. Is there a way I can emulate that with a IR command? And what would I need to do in the FLIRC settings? I hope someone here has a good idea what I can try :)

  9. Hi, I'm using flirc wirh xbmc on windows 8. I've installed the last software and forced upgrade firmware. Flirc works on windows screen but when I launch xbmc flirc stops to work after 5-10 seconds. I have to exit xbmc or return to desktop for flirc works again. What can I do to fix it? Thanks a lot.

  10. Started by ozkhan1,

First of all, let me just say that I love your product. It has made managing my media box and TV with one remote so much simpler. However, I am struggling with some aspects of it. I use my TV's remote for my OpenELEC machine with the FLIRC which is programmed to control it. But the key presses are ready by both TV and the OE box, and that can be a problem at times. I want to program a key on remote to put the OE BOX to sleep when I change my source from OE box to a different one. and wake it when I switch it back. (Basically I want to program the Input or source button on the remote to do this). Is this possible with FLIRC? i know you can put it to sleep bu…

  11. Started by svennn,

I'm trying very hard to cut the cable with FIOS and so I want to switch to a Fire TV. It needs to to be simple and run with one remote. All my AV equipment is installed in a closet and reached with a IR repeater. I seem to find some hit and miss info of if FLIRC will work with a repeater or not. Does it basically come down to having to buy one a test it or is it more commonly know to not work so don't waste time trying? Thanks. Steve

  12. I have two XBMC computers on the same TV. One runs OSX 10.9 and uses a flirc dongle with the Harmony XBMC profile. The other uses Windows 8 with XBMC and an MCE setup. I would like to replace the MCE setup with another flirc. Can I use the same Harmony XBMC profile with this second flirc? Wouldn't the flircs get confused as to who should be reacting to a key press? Perhaps using different profiles would get around that? Philip

  13. hello all i have downloaded a windows 64 bit software for my newly purchased flirc device. Unfortunately it is not pairing up any of my remote controls button presses, i have used 4 remotes but none of them are being picked up by either the software or the device itself any help will be appreciated, thanks

  14. I emailed Jason about this but perhaps someone has a solution. I took a Flirc that I had been using with XBMC and Plex on my Mac Mini. I formatted it, disabled profiles and upgraded the firmware to 2.4. This is using Flirc 1.2.3 on a Mac ( same thing happened on a PC under win7). According to flirt_util there are no recorded buttons. Now I want to use it for my Fire TV so I took a device ( a PVR) which we don't own and made an Activity which yielded ir signals for each button. I then went to configure flirc: - pressed the Up arrow and flirc claimed the button was in use - erased the button - tried to record the key again and this time it said no space left for …

  15. Started by pmcd,

I did this months ago and should have kept notes as I am now totally confused. Do you first set up the Harmony Activity using the appropriate devices, switch to that Activity and then have FLIRC learn the keys or do you use the phantom device, say some TV player, and have the device send the keys to FLIRC. If you use the device setting to do this then once you set up an Activity all the Harmony buttons are confused. In short, can I set up an Activity and use the Harmony software to assign things to the buttons ( perhaps from many sources) and then have FLIRC learn that? Philip

  16. Started by gameplayer,

I hope to use Flirc with Raspbmc but am new to Raspbery Pi and do not know how to download the Flirc program. I tried to program Flirc on a Macbook Air using an EyeTV remote. I keep getting "Button already exists - Start Over, Skip, Redo". I tried all three choices - no help. I tried "Clear Configuration" - no help. I tried "Erase" - no help. HELP.

Will the flirc work with this new media player using a Harmony ir remote? Philip

  18. Started by xaph,

Hi! I just watched a youtube video of a guy using flirc on raspberry pi and I was just wondering if this little device works on a regular computer aswell? I have a fractal design node 605 for my HTPC and I wanted a nice solution for controlling XBMC. Thanks in advance and sorry for my "noobish" question!

  19. Started by Bean007,

Ok I have no clue on why I can't get my Flirc and Harmony 650 to work with my XBMC. I used the setup using the My Harmony and it found everything with all the commands and Sync'ed it to my remote. Plugged it into my HTPC and ran XBMC and nothing happend. I also grabbed the Flirc addon for XBMC and even though it's plugged in the addon shows it as disconnected. I'll remove Flirc and then put it back in and I hear my sound showing that it's plugged in and the addon for a brief few seconds will show it as being connected but then shows it's disconnected. It's not the USB port that's the problem cause it was the same port I had my Logitech Wireless USB device for my K400 …

  20. I have 2 Windows 7 Media Center computers in the same room. One is normally the media server, and the other is normally my PC, but sometimes I need to switch if I've recorded something that is cable card encrypted, copy protected as play once, and gets recorded on my PC, but not on my media server. The system includes 2 SiliconDust HDHomeRun Primes, a Pioneer Elite Receiver/ Home Theater, a regular, generic, non-programmable, HP WMC remote and a Lenovo WMC USB IR receiver, and it all works ok. I also have a Harmony 700. I now also have added an HP MediaSmart TV Remote (remote only, no HP TV - P/N 5189-3683) that can be programmed for various CBL, DVD, AVR and AUX devi…

  21. Started by zbyka,

Hello, I'd like to ask how to downgrade flirc to stable version 1.x? All links here are dead and I can't download older firmware. Currently I'm using beta fw 2.4 and I'm not satisfied (mainly because of fantom keys). May I ask for instructions how to get back to stable fw and working links or how to get rid of fantom keys and endless repeats. It's annoying. Thanks in advance.

  22. Started by pdub,

Hi, I'm using Flirc with my HTPC, running Windows 7 and Plex primarily. I am really liking Flirc + Plex, but I'm wondering if anyone has a solution to get the volume buttons on the remote to map to general Windows system volume controls. Thanks!

Will the Gbox MX2 work with flirc to watch xbmc?

  24. Hey All, I've read a bunch of older threads for this problem and tried the "solutions" they mentioned without any success. I have a Flirc connected directly to a raspberry pi, and I'm controlling it with a Harmony One. I had no problems setting this up using the Flirc XBMC Profile in the harmony software. Everything worked great for 2 days, no issues at all. No double characters, play and pause worked correctly. Today when I came home I was using it, started a video and paused it and noticed it seemed to pause/play really quickly. Then realized it was sending every button press very quickly. I tried the troubleshooting options in the harmony software and adjus…

Hi, I haven't been using my Flirc for quite some time, and in the mean time, I have updated my XBMC to a newer version, and bought a new remote (harmony ultimate) Well, It has always been working, although I have always been haunted by "Sticky Keys" and the missing option for a wake-up key (though I have been testing several beta's, some working better than others. Well, to my pleasant surprise I noticed that a new firmware version have been released, so hoping that earlier issues had been resolved, I upgraded my Flirc to the latest firmware, cleared the config, and did a fresh configuration. Unfortunately it seems like my Flirc's a more unstable than ever…
