  1. Started by landchen,

I programmed my flirc device on a windows computer in order to use it with a Raspberry Pi. When I disconnect the Raspberry Pi for some time (for example 24 hours), flirc loses all data, it stops working on the Raspberry Pi. In order to get it back to normal operation, I have to reconnect it to the PC and run the flirc software. That is not very handy. Is it expected behaviour or is the device faulty?

  2. I'm trying to control a headless Itunes server. FLIRC works perfectly as long as I have a physical keyboard and monitor (I'm sending keyboard commands to windows shortcut keys). But when I remove the keyboard and monitor, windows seems to ignore the FLIRC commands. Not sure if FLIRC isn't sending the command or windows simply ignores it. Starmanj

I ordered a FLIRC because of all the good things I've heard from the raspberry pi forums. I'm confused by one aspect of the FLIRC. I thought it would be more like LIRC (incorrectly assumed based on the similarity of the name) where you can actually send command line commands to the pi directly without having to be in XBMC or any kind of destkop environment. Can you program the flirc to work this way?

  4. Hello all, I am running the latest version of openelec on a regular pc. The flirt works just fine but after a period of not using openelec/xbmc it doesn't respond directly, it starts responding after a couple of minutes when i used the keyboard and watch television. I am using the flirc with logitech harmony touch. Any ideas ? Greetz, Matija

Hi there. I have a HTPC running WMC. OS is Windows 8.1. I was previously using a media center remote for my xbox 360s that were being used as extenders but I also wanted to get my PC itself something I can control instead of using a keyboard and mouse. I picked up a Logitech Harmony remote and the flirc thinking that would be enough. I am close to getting this working but I have a few questions. After configuring the flirc with a few basic commands I noticed that play pause isn't working how I want it. When I pause the video stops but the audio keeps going. I can't tell why this is happening and I haven't been able to find any other threads that mention this. …

  6. hi, is it possible to use flirc with a Nokia E90 Communicator (Symbian S60 3rd, with infrared)? I would like to operate the raspberry with TV-Display. Please answer to info@von-laun.de. thanks

I've installed the configuration software in Windows and configured flirc there. In Windows the sent keys are recognized, like an "m" or numbers. I can see them in a text editor. I've put then flirc into a linux box (Mythbuntu) and watched the commands here. I've installed no flirc software here imaging that flirc works as a simple keyboard here and doesn't need any additional driver or software. Cursor keys for instance are recognized here but no letters like "m" or even numbers. What can be the reason for these differences?

  10. I have had my flirc for about a month and had it connected to a Raspberry Pi running Raspbmc. I programmed the flirc using my Window 8 PC and everything worked fine. Fast forward to today. Turned on the Pi and it booted up but the remote didn't respond. unplugged and plugged in the flirc but still nothing. I plugged a keyboard into the USB port the flirc was using and it worked fine so I know the port is working. I took the flirc to the PC that I used to program it and plugged it in. The beeped as it does when a new device is plugged in but the flirc software said the device was disconnected. I checked device manager and under "Other devices" there is a device la…

Just received a new FLIRC from Amazon.com. Tried it on my windows 7 64bit laptop, and it goes through a constant connect/disconnect loop. It will be seen in device manager for about 3 seconds, then drops out, then again, then gone, then again, then gone........ I was finally able to do a manual driver install, so that it is at least recognized, but still every 10 seconds or so, it disconnects and reconnects. Tried it on another PC, and it does the exact same thing. Do I have a bad FLIRC? Very frustrating as my el cheapo IR receiver works just fine.

The device had worked fine since January, but this morning it has suddenly stopped functioning properly. I tried reprogramming it and the software claims to have stored the remote button, but it will not respond when pressed again. I have a couple of times gotten it to respond to the remote, but only when the remote is directly next to the dongle and even then it registers as dozen of presses or gets stuck as if I am holding the button down. I've tried getting it to work with a Tivo remote I've used all along and the LG remote that came with the TV. Upgraded the latest gui 1.2.6 and firmware to 2.6. Running on Windows 7 professional. Any ideas? Thanks.

  13. Hi, I'm using a Flirc on my XBMC Raspberry Pi (OpenELEC 4.0.4) and today it's just gone crazy. Every time I push a button I get endless repeats, sometimes lasting half a minute or so. It's not the remote (Humax RM-F01) which works perfectly on both my Humax FoxSat HDR and my television. The Flirc has always been a bit iffy, but today it has become totally unusable and I've had to go back to controlling XBMC from my PC in another room, which isn't great. The Flirc is on firmware version 2.6, and in Advanced Settings I've set Sleep Detection off, Noise Canceler on, Built-In Profiles off, Inter-Key Delay 4. Any ideas, please?

  14. Hi Firstly, I am very impressed with flirc when I first programmed it, everything on my Win 7 PC for XBMC worked fine. However, after booth reboots and turning the computer on and off, apon restart my remote does not work. I noticed in the devices and printer section in the control panel that flirc is not listed after a restart as a USB keyboard; instead bootloader is listed. The only way I can fix this is to open the flirc gui used to assinged buttons and then it says 'bootloader found', it connects (slowly) as DFU, and then I can use it. This seems a bit inconvenient - I assumed (like with my bluetoth keyboard) that after restart it would just 'be there'…

Hey, I'm just trying to get my HTPC functioning with my Harmony Ultimate One remote. I updated the firmware on the flirc to version 2.6 which I believe is the latest, setup the device on myharmony application using the flirc xbmc profile. But when I plug in the flirc device into my zotac which is running xbmcbuntu there is no response from the remote. I was wondering if I could get a hand with this I know there definitely is a step I am missing. Any help would be appreciated!

  17. I thought I had everything working great with a particular remote but I thought another remote had keys in better locations so I created another profile for that remote. I first had the Flirc attached to an IR repeater and now have it in plain sight. The issue is some keys don't seem to respond right away and everything is very sluggish when it does respond. I am using the XBMC option in the Flirc software. I save the configs from each remote to another name. I thought I could just load whichever profile I created depending on which remote I liked the best. I mapped the keys from each remote to each profile. I was getting a ton of repeats with the down arrow all of…

  18. Does the backup and restore (saveconfig/loadconfig) work between Flirc's? I have programmed tweaked one and want to use the same config in a different room. It didn't appear to restore the learned remote commands. Using Windows 7 x64 v1.2.6

Hi, I have been having a couple of problems with my flirc so thought I would do a firmware update to see if it would fix it. I installed the latest version of the the software (1.2.3) and noticed that the firmware at the bottom left states rmware v-16.-1. The software does not try to update firmware automatically when started and when I force the update via advanced->Force FW Upgrade it states that the firmware is -16.-16. When the firmware update starts the program says Firmware being upgraded, please wait... and then the program stops responding and no matter how long i leave it nothing happens. Any ideas of what I can do?

I am using the windows GUI to program my new FLIRC for DVB Dream. I mapped Ctrl-Shift-Up but it is not being recognised by DVB Dream. Having tested the button with a program that outputs key presses, I noticed that the sequence output by FLIRC is: Ctrl key_down Shift key_down Up key_down Ctrl key_up Shift key_up Up key_up. I think that the problem is that the DVB Dream application is registering the Up key_up event and at this point the Ctrl and Shift keys have been released. How can I solve this problem? I've tried searching but I can't find anything about this in the help, forums or anything obvious within the GUI.

  21. Started by mschuerig,

I received my Flirc today, so I'm pretty new to this. I'm using Flirc on Linux and I'm trying to control mpd (music player daemon) through a combination of triggerhappy, mpc and a generic remote control. My problem right now is that if I don't immediately release a button on the remote control, I get a series of keydown/keyup events. My remote apparently sends alternating codes, accordingly I have programmed two "button presses" for each event Flirc generates. That seems to work and I don't think it is the cause of my problem. Originally, I did get a sequence of keydown, (repeated) keypressed, keyup events. However, the keys themselves always were a combinatio…

Hi I received my Flirc device today. Plugged it into 3 different Linux machines and none of them would recognize it. Running the ./Flirc just kept saying could not open device. Am I missing something? Or is it DOA? Thanks Steve

  23. I ordered my Flirc Friday and was way too excited so I paid for next day shipping and got it Saturday :-D Some background info to set the scenario. Here's my setup... Windows 7 - 32bit XBMC 13.1 (Gotham) Harmony Smart Remote I was able to very quickly get the remote to work with Flirc, but I'm not really sure HOW it's working, and I'd like to better understand. Mainly because it's not working perfectly and I'm not sure if it's because I set it up incorrectly. At first, I went straight into the Flirc software and manually programmed the general buttons (directional + 'OK'). Then I went into the XBMC section of Flirc and setup some other buttons (Play, Pause, etc…

  24. Is there a way to get flirc to press multiple keys from one button on a remote. So for example, if you press 0 on your remote, it will type A+B+C+1+2+3+[Enter Key]?

  25. Started by goat999,

I am running Flirc/XBMC on Windows 8.1 latop plugged into a Samsung UE32B600 TV (via DVI/HDMI adaptor cable) Everything works like a charm. My only niggle is (and I know its the TV) is if I use the remote stop/start keys the TV displays the message 'Not Available', I guess because it needs a CEC enabled device plugged in. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can switch these messages off?
