  2. Hello there, just to be sure that i did right for the installation of flirc: I want to run it with debian wheezy and i was successful installing the application (altering sources.list etc). When i start the application in gnome, it says continuously "disconnected" / please connect flirc. But my system logs show me it's connected - what did i make wrong? log portions: http://pastebin.com/mv505KM4

If I understand correcltly, FLIRC identifies itself as a keyboard to a device when plugged in–this is part of its genius. I'm running Raspbmc and have a Harmony Hub; I've added the FLIRC profile and am able to navigate/control playback perfectly. I'm now looking to be able to run a specific add-on script in XBMC from a single button press on my remote. Looking through the Harmony buttons, it looks like my coloured (red, yellow, green, blue) buttons are currently "unmapped". Do I need to add a keyboard.xml or remote.xml to my userdata/keymaps/ folder? I would assume it would be keyboard.xml as the FLIRC is technically a kebyoard... The contents of my .xml would…

  4. Started by Juggler,

I've just "installed" my FLIRC on my Raspbmc set-up. After setting it up to work with my Harmony Hub, all is good! There is only one thing I cannot figure out... not sure if it is a FLIRC or XBMC question. In XBMC, I've installed the XSqueeze add-on to use my Raspbmc connected to my receiver as a Squeezebox player; works great. I cannot, however, figure out how to use the Activities set-up in MyHarmony to launch XSqueeze when I press the "Music" button on my Harmony remote. Is there a way to map an XBMC Add-on or Favourite to a remote (IR) command?

  5. Started by Allgonepetetong,

I have asked this before and never got an answer. I have made a mistake mapping a certain key and now I can't erase it!!! I click erase then press the button I want to erase on my remote.. it says erased but it hasn't. I don't want to have to map my whole remote again. I have tried over and over again and the button it still active. It's driving me mad!!!!!!!!!

Help Please! The following is the setup I have... and nothing seems to work properly. FLIRC on OUYA running XBMC Setup Harmony Remote as "Manufacturer: Flirc" "Model: XBMC" Recorded buttons to FLIRC on Mac v1.26 app from Harmony Remote I have tried changing the following settings to try and stop either missed button presses, or jumpy presses (multiple hits for a single button press). I seem to either be missing presses, or moving 3 at a time, depending on settings. Harmony : Device Inter-Key delay : 0 - 500ms Inter-Device delay: 500ms (I left this one alone) Command Repeats: 0-3 (I've tried them all) FLIRC: Advanced - Inter-Key Delay: 0 - 6 (…

Hi, I would like to associate the power button of my remote with an action that will just wake up the screen. For now : - I power on the TV, HDMI no connected because screen of HTPC in saving mode - I press a button to wake the HTPC screen and it shows on TV What I want : - Power on the TV and Flirc do a press key that will wake up the screen also. I know that I could just put any keypress on Flirc but if the screen is already ok, I don't want the HTPC a receive something like "p" ou "t" and change start a search or something else. Is there any keypress that doesn't do much but do wake the screen?

Trying to get my new Harmony Ultimate remote working with Jriver Media Center on my self-built HTPC. Bought Flirc to get signal to my HTPC and I am getting everything to work but am having to double-press directional and arrow keys to get action done in Jriver. The buttons on remotes display seem to work with a single-press like they should, seems to only be an issue with the remotes physical buttons. Tried recording every button twice in Flirc setup as suggested in another topic, but still same problem. Any help appreciated, as I don't want to have to put unneeded wear and tear on my new remotes buttons. Thanks!!

Hi there all the precious forum members I am looking for a ir receiver for my htpc and want to use my Onkyo universal remote colntroller for all the equipment I have. You can see the remote's link below. And you can see how to program it to control other devices at manual of the AVR (page 82 and later) http://shop.eu.onkyo.com/RC840M.htm http://www.intl.onkyo.com/downloads/manuals/pdf/tx-nr828_manual_e.pdf This remote controller has a learning function. I programmed it by teaching the general remote control functions of the other two different cable/sat receivers. And this remote recognize my Sony TV when I entered the specific code. So by this way I can contr…

  10. Hi How to best put the pieces together? I understad that its best to choose the "Flirc XBMC" device in the myHarmony (It may eventually come a "flirc PLEX" device but until then I suppose that XBMC is the way to go). I have a problem with the "back" button, it lets me go backwards in the meny but I cant get back to the menu when I started a film... Is there i a guide or some tips and trix anyone can offer me? I use PLEX for the desktop but I love to move to the win8 app becouse its a better UI, however it seams that the app its not with out its fair share of problems so I stick to the desktop for now... Thanks

I've just completed building my first XBNC platform and am down to the remote control plans. Part 1 of this is about using the Microsoft MCE remote (planned for a couple of my TVs) I initially bought a FLIRC to use with my Windows 8 NUC where I initially used the MCE remote by manually learning the basic commands. It occurred to me that I was reinventing the wheel, and probably missing some commands, vs using the MCE Remote app that's part of XBMC. So, I installed the app, but the remote doesn't work. At all. Should it? if so, is there already a thread on making this work? I searched, but didn't find one. Part 2 is about using the Harmony One (planned for…

  12. I installed the latest version of XBMC (KODI 14) on my rooted (busybox and superuser installed) mk802III android 4.1.1. I updated my flirc to fw 3 without any issue. I was able to program my remote which is a sapphire theatrix as well as an xbox 360 remote and a philips remote. When I plug in the dongle to my android stick nothing works. I tried the dongle on my xbmcbuntu setup too but it didn't work there either. I also made sure there was a keymap.xml in my keymap dir. I tested the remote on my xbmcbuntu box with the ir receiver that came with remote and it worked fine. I have read many posts on the ouya but i can't find any correlation with my mk802III since the …

Is there any chance that this profile will ever get updated to allow us to bind remote buttons to any keyboard key? As far as I'm concerned the current profile is useless as it assumes I use the default key binds and nothing more.

  14. Hi, I assigned two keyboard shortcuts and automator actions to start Tunes and Plex and mapped them on a remote controller. This works when Flirc is open at the foreground and it starts the software, but doesn't when Flirc is closed. Is this perhaps known to anyone? btw. I also mapped command + Q, to quit an application, and this works when Flirc isn't open. So what is happening to the two shortcuts whom act accordingly when Flirc is open, but fail when Flirc is closed?

Hi; Since february I have a Flirc that I have been usign on an HTPC (running OpenElec Linux + Flirc XBMC Add-On) with zero problems, not a single issue. But the last week it stopped working, at first I wasn't worried, so I plugged out and tried to reflash it on my Windows 8.1 laptop, but it didn't worked, also tried in an Ubuntu machine but no success. In Windows 8.1 Flirc somewhat works when I launch Flirc Setup.exe v1.2.6, but trying to flash it makes the installer hang, telling "Firmware version -16", and never completes. In my HTPC with OpenElec (Linux) it simply refuses to work, and if I launch the Flirc Add-On, it tries to reflash Flirc and the whole X Server …

Hello, I plan to use FLIRC with USB Extender cable. My Desktop is in one room, where in my display and sound system is in a different room. I plan to use 40ft USB extender cable, and then use FLIRC in the other room through the usb extender. Could you please confirm if FLIRC with perform without any issues over such distance. Also, the remote which i will be pairing with FLIRC is Sony RM-SFL7, this remote has a touch pad. Can the touch pad be used as a mouse pointer.

  18. Hi, I came across Flirc by chance on the interwebz and I'm interested. Here's my setup, wondering if Flirc makes sense here: - General purpose PC with an Nvidia GPU: DVI port connected to a regular PC monitor, and HDMI port connected to a Vizio M series 2014 TV. Windows is running in extended desktop mode. Regular Windows desktop is shown on the DVI monitor, and XBMC is shown on the secondary monitor (TV). - Remote is the remote that came with the TV; has a keyboard on the back I'd like to use with Flirc if possible Here are my questions: I read that Flirc is detected as a keyboard input. Can I set it so input from Flirc goes to XBMC only, rather to where Windo…

Hi, I recently purchased a new computer and it seems in linux that my Microsoft infrared receiver (philips model) no longer works on this new machine. I am using ubuntu, I tried 12.04 and 14.04 with no luck, in usb 2.0 and 3.0 ports. The device is recognized but does not work. It works fine in windows so it leads me to believe this is a linux hardware issue. It works fine in linux on an older machine that has 1.1 usb ports. So the question is will this receiver work in ubuntu 14.04 with the newer machines that do not have 1.1 usb hubs on them? I have a Gigabyte GA-B85M-D3H mATX motherboard

Hi guys. I have a question. I recently purchased an ASUS Chromebox M004U, which I set up with a fresh install of Ubuntu 14.04. Using a Harmony Smart remote, I can pair buttons using the FLIRC application perfectly, and I can use the Ubuntu keyboard settings to bind a FLIRC key press to suspending the computer (via "sudo pm-suspend &"). My problem is that regardless of what computer keys I bind a FLIRC button with, the FLIRC receiver will not bring my computer out of suspend. I have tried using the same USB port with a wireless keyboard and mouse, and in both cases I can manually enable USB wake up by using "echo enabled | sudo tee /sys/bus/usb/devices/1-…

My computer now hang when Flirc is inserted. It is as if there is a conflict with my mouse, because the mouse cursor has disappeared. If I removed Flirc then everything is back to normal again. I've tried rebooting my computer multiple time, but this issue persists. Have anyone encountered this problem and know how to fix it? Thanks

I've tried several different remotes and they all give the same results. Pressing a key gives you a random chance at one of the following outcomes: 1.) Desired result 2.) Multiple repeats of the same key press 3.) No key press -I've tried inter key delays of 0 and 6, but it doesn't appear to make a difference. -One of the remotes I tried was a MCE remote. So, I assume that's been tested tons of times before with Flirc. Here are the settings for my MCE remote. C:\Program Files (x86)\Flirc>flirc_util.exe settings flirc_util version v1.2.6 [v1.2.6] Firmware: v2.6 Settings: sleep detection: Disabled noise canceler: Disabled inter-key delay: 3 s…

  23. Hi all, Firstly I would like to say how happy I am with flirc. Great product. It is working perfectly except when I want to hold down my remote left or right key to scan over large movie libraries. I have updated the flirc with latest stable driver, and using xbmc with a WD TV live remote. Any advice would be most welcome. Thanks John

  24. Started by Terry,

I have a Samsung 39F5500 smart tv with a small (Atom based) Acer Windows 7 PC running XBMC, HDMI from PC to TV. I can fully control XBMC using the Bluetooth keyboard/mouse of course and I also use these for general web browsing etc. The Samsung TV remote has the capability to also control a STB/DVD but to configure this you have to pick a brand and model (e.g. Sony Blueray player), there is no option to pick a device such as MCE keyboard or HTPC. I want to be able to fully control XBMC from the Samsung TV remote so that I do not have to use the wireless keyboard/mouse and can do everything from turning the TV on and waking up the PC to watching TV/Movies from XBMC and clo…

I'm unsuccessful at programing the home button of the Amazon FireTV on to Flirc. My guess is that the home button on the Amazon FireTV remote is different than the home key on the keyboard. Do you know the sequence of keys on the keyboard that is equivalent to the home button on the Amazon FireTV remote? Thanks
