  1. OK, I think I've elimintated all other possible possible problems: 1. Wake computer from USB (S3) is enabled in BIOS 2. Sleep state computer is entering is not below S3. 3. I can wake up my computer using keyboard or mouse that are also plugged into USB ports So, I presume I am hitting a dead end since Flirc's driver doesn't support power management? Or is there anything I can do? I'm using GUI 1.2.2 and I've updated firmware to 2.3. Thanks in advance for any help - I would really love if this was possible to do - if I need to install custom driver or anything like that, let me know. EDIT: I also have a bluetooth keyboard connected, and it suffers from t…

Hi all, Is there only one version of the actual flirc USB device, or are there different versions? If there are different versions available, which is the latest and how are you able to tell which version it is? There reason I am asking is that I can obtain a flirc device locally, but I am not sure if it could be an old obsolete version. TIA Darryn

Hi, I'm new to Flirc, so assume I've missed something obvious. I programmed the Flirc on my Mac for XBMC (using the pre made template in the flirc software). When I plug the Flirc into my RaspberryPi (running OpenElec with a dev build of Gotham), I notice the response time to key presses is very slow (close to a second sometimes), and there is a long delay before another key press will be recognized. Is this expected? The same remote (rc6) works quickly with the ir receiver that came with the remote. Sorry to tack on another question, but: I also noticed the Flirc pre made template for XBMC does not include some of the buttons I used on the remote, so some…

  4. Hey all. I got my Flirc and it's bios was 1.0. I upgraded the firmware, no it wont let me program the remote. It various when it decides not to work. Some time I can get 5 buttons programed, others times its only 1. I have checked the forums and have tried in a windows 8, xbmc, and Ubuntu with no success. have cleared the memory, tried upgrading the firmware again and done everything suggested on the forums. This seems to be a common problem and I would like to downgrade my firmware but haven't been able to find it anywhere. Please help Thanks Steve

  5. Hi. I just received my Flirc and was a bit surprised that I can only configure six buttons (arrows, enter, back). Is that a Mac OS X limitation? In any case, an Apple Remote has at least one extra button - Play/Pause, which I can't configue using the Flirc app. So I have my Apple Remote with a button that does nothing. What am I missing here?

  6. I am having trouble configuring my Flirc. I run the program on a Windows 7 64bit machine, updatet to the latet firmware. Then when i am trying to learn the buttons, it says the button already exists. Since i wanna make sure everything is ok, i wanna do it from scratch. So i clear the programming from the menu, but it is still the same afterwards. If i try to hit redo, i either get that the button excists, or that it is no space for more keys. When putting the Flirc into the OUYA, nothing happens either in the OUYA dash or XBMC. I have a sideloaded xbmc, the OUYA is rooted. Any hints on what to do would be appreciated.

Hello all. I just got my self a Harmony Touch from a friend that didn't need it anymore. Im running xbmc 12.3 on Mac mini Late 12. Osx ML How do i set my remote up with flirc? Thx

See also: Since at least February 10th (i.e., more than a month!), the apt repo has been broken, 404ing. For those of us that purchased the device new, this makes the Flirc very difficult to use properly. Although the binaries are available, the udev rules that are apparently required to make it work without root access are more difficult to find. Thanks, - Patrick

Hi All, I'm a newbie here and am thinking of buying a Flirc to replace the rubbish Antec Veris EZ multimedia station IR receiver I am currently using with my HP microserver HTPC, XBMC and Harmony 900. The microserver runs Windows 2008 R2 x64 and I was wondering whether I would have any issues running Flirc and receiving support on this setup. I would also love to hear the experiences of anyone who uses Flirc with this setup and what settings are the best to get started with my Harmony 900 (I am currently using IMON which detects the harmony as a MCE remote). Thanks in advance for any help/advice. Dilpz213

  10. This morning I updated the firmware on my flirc to the latest version, 2.3. I couldn't get the rewind and fastforward to work before, so I thought this might help. Initially, it did help. I was able to record the ff and rwd buttons to work, but the pause and stop wouldn't work (it wouldn't stop fastforwarding). I tried clearing the configuration, but then I started getting even more problems. It then wouldn't record any buttons at all. I had been using the flirc and Windows Media Center PC profiles with the harmony 650 remote, but I tried a Samsung tv profile I saw on the flirc forum to try and fix the problem too. The flirc doesn't see any of them when I'm trying …

  11. I just ordered my Flirc dongle and figured I'd install the software before it gets here. Running the software causes my Hackintosh box to lock up solid. Zero response and the only way out is a hard reset. Is this normal behaviour if the Flirc dongle isn't plugged in? Hope I haven't made a mistake but lots of other people in the Hackintosh community seem to use Flirc with no problems. thanks edit: OSX 10.9.2 Flirc.dmg from the site

  12. Hi Guys. This is a fantastic product, and was very easy to setup. Great range too. I was hoping to have been able to do the setup using my Ubuntu machine, but all the Debian links were broken on the flirc website. Am I missing something? Have they moved, or no longer being supported? Thanks!

  13. Started by crescentd,

I just bought a flirc. I've read some of the doc. My initial understanding was that I'd be able to control all pc functions and apps. Now after reading a bit, it seems that it will only control one media center app. Does it control only one app or multiple? Can it emulate a windows mouse and/or do windows functions?

  14. Started by Ommand,

So I finally got things straightened out with logitech and thought I was finally in a position to actually use my flirc... seems I was wrong. I went to map my keys today but nothing was taking, so I tried a firmware update. When I hit "force fw upgrade" in the advanced page in the configuration tool it reports that my current firmware version is -16,-16 and that the latest is 2.3. I push "yes" to complete the upgrade, it appears to start and then it hangs. And hangs. And hangs. I've repeated the process no less than a dozen times and have even tried rebooting (windows 8 x64). The device is detected correctly in device manager so I don't imagine drivers are an is…

  15. Having trouble trying to program Play and Pause for Windows Media Center. i seem to be able to program all functionality, except for these 2. GUI says "recorded successfully", but when i try to use the buttons, nothing happens. I've also tried using different buttons on the remote (ie not Play & Pause on the remote), but with the same result. I've tried 2 different remote controls, i'm able to program all functionality i need, except for Play and Pause. flirc firmware: 2.3 flirc gui: 1.2.2 remotes used: Tivo (series 2) and Samsung Smart TV remote any ideas?

  18. Started by ScottJ,

I want to use FLIRC to see button presses from my receiver remote, and also button presses from my TV remote. Is this possible? (I realize the receiver and TV will also respond to those button presses.) I read the FAQ on multiple remotes but it was confusing. "So long as they are the same remote or in the case of Harmony remotes - they are programmed as the same device" -- which seems to say no. But then later in the thread it says "you can pair as many remotes as you want". Which seems to say yes.

I setup my flirc in a way that I can use it with my Mac(xbmc) and my ps3. I get direction and thumb keys as per this: Esc = Circle. F1 = Triangle. F2 = Square. F3 = Select. F4 = Start. Enter=X In DVDs I can also ff and rew with the direction keys but this does not work with blurays with the fancy menu. I tried around with my USB keyboard and couldn't find any other keys the ps3 reacts to while playing blurays. Does anyone know whether there are keys that the ps3 reacts to or is this a hard limitation by Sony? Thank you very much!

Hi, I've been trying to set up Flirc using a One For All URC-7110 remote. I'm running OpenElec on my Acer Revo and it boots from an SD. I've got it up and running but some keys aren't working (the stop key is the main one I want to get working). I've plugged in my mac keyboard to test that the keys are working and they all do outside of XBMC but when it comes to controlling xbmc, some of them aren't working. Does this mean that I need to edit the keyboard.xml file? I've checked for the location of this file so I can edit it but I can only find a 'key maps' sub directory using the File Manager in XBMC. Assuming I need to, how do I go about finding and editing this file…

March 12, 2014 Hello... First thing to say would be that I am no Linux expert, I just get by. But finally got the Flirc GUI installed and working in a Debian Wheezy system. First attempt was done by modifying the /etc/apt/sources.list and running the apt-get. That only resulted in the error: Err http://apt.flirc.tv binary/ Packages 404 Not Found Which means to me that the website is the problem. To have an idea when this going to be fixed would be extremely good since I would stop wasting time trying to figure out what is going on. Maybe on the download page - put a notice. The second method used to install the GUI program was to download the program …

  23. I'm trying to use the flirc to replace my MCE remote. I've been able to associate ir codes with the keyboard shortcuts that Windows Media Center understands on Windows 7. Everything works just fine except for one very odd circumstance. Skip back and forward (control B and control F) don't work while watching recorded TV. Those IR codes do work in the program guide, so they are being received and recognized. But they don't work while playing recorded TV. Also, control B and control F do work from the keyboard while playing recorded TV. Apparently, Windows Media Center treats the flirc keyboard differently in this context. Does anyone have a solution for this?

  24. Started by dooty22,

After attempting to use 3 different remotes and having an issue with all of them where a single directional press would send the windows media center UI spinning like a poker machine, i eventually narrowed the issue down to the kinect on my xbox one, by blocking its sensor (putting a cushion in front of it :-)) and being unable to reproduce the issue, and able to reproduce it again when unblocked. Im wondering if anyone has any advice on how I can prevent this happening as I want to continue using the kinect in the same room as the flirc. I understand the kinect sends ir signals in the room but dont understand why its breaking flirc. thanks.
