  1. I setup my remote to be used with VLC / Videolan and all seemed to go well. I closed the setup / GUI interface and launched my player. All of the keyboard shortcuts that I entered work fine when I used the keyboard but no response from VLC when using the remote. I tried again - erased all keys and reentered them - again everything seemed to go great but the same non response from VLC. I then installed xbmc and changed the key selections via flirc GUI but with the same result. My keyboard is made by logitech and connects via bluetooth. I thought this might be an issue so I plugged in a wired keyboard and reentered the keyboard shortcuts but no change in the end result. Fli…

  2. Hi, I have been using my FLIRC device on a few devices for a couple of years including Ras Pi's and currently my Pivos Xios DS box with largely great success. Its arguably the best money I have spent in all my HTPCing days I have had this one little issue that has been bugging me though. As I want to get towards having one remote for all my devices, i.e TV (on/off, Source, volume basically all i need), a TV/Sat Receiver Box (BT Vision atm) and my XBMC box. I have nearly got this setup exactly how I want except for the fact when I am issuing commands to my TV/Sat receiver box (while on another HDMI port) via the remote, XBMC is still getting these commands …

  3. For curiosity sake where is Flirc shipped from?

Not sure if this is an issue with Flirc.. After a few hours of my windows 7 box running XBMC is idle (as i don't shut down the computer) I just power off my amp and TV. I use my remote to turn on the amp and TV. Flirc is unresponsive for about a minute, I have to get near the Flirc usb stick with the remote for it to work, then after a minute I can sit back down on the sofa and its fine. I'm assuming the Flic goes into a sleep mode or low power mode? Can this be disabled? Other then this one issue, it works extremely well! best thing since sliced bread.

Hi all! I'm just new on Flirc (received yesterday! ^^) I'm willing to know if there is possible to map full keyboard letters to a TV remote, and make it work as SMS Input mode. E.g: If I press 2 and then 2 again, this will be "B", meanwhile if I press 2 three times, this will be "C". Flirc v0.9.6 on Win7. I've tried to find a related topic, but I haven't found it, so my apologies if is this a repeated topic. Thank you very much.

Sorry about this really simple question... If I buy a Flirc can I still use my wireless keyboard as well?

  8. Started by dugiehowsa,

Although the focus of this post is narrow, I figure it may help someone out. I have a Dish remote (6.3 IR/UHF PRO) and found that when using the VCR mode button, the Sony DVD code 617 worked the best with XBMC on Raspbian (RaspBMC - version June 2013). The only quirk I found was that the left direction button doesn't work. Its not that major of an annoyance, but perhaps after enjoying my flirc for a few days I'll see if I can resolve the issue. Thanks to Jason and the rest of the team for developing such a great product.

*** SOLVED **** :) :) :) :) Hello. I have recently bought a flirc. My setup is a Zotac Zbox, with the latest Xbmcbuntu installed. I have programmed my flirc, and it works just fine. BUT, here comes the problem. If I power ON the mediacenter WITH the Flirc inside the USB port, the system fails to boot. The screen just stays black! If I remove the Flirc, and restart the mediacenter WITHOUT the Flirc, the system boots just fine! I can put in the Flirc in the USB after XBMC has loaded up, and my device works just fine. What is the reason it makes my box fail the boot ? Is it because it detects Flirc as an bootable device? Please help me. Thank you for …

Sorry if this has been covered, I quickly read through 5 pages of topics. ;) I am really interested in this product, will it work with XBMC for Android? Thanks.

I have one Flirc that when it is either unplugged and plugged back in or the PC is rebooted it will only be recognized for one click of the remote and then it disappears from device manager. I have found through trial and error if once I plug it in and launch the Flirc GUI and re-install firmware it will work fine until it is unplugged or the PC is rebooted and then I have to re-install the firmware again to get it to work. It is on a Windows 8 PC where I use it most but I was hoping to be able to unplug the Flirc and plug it into the Android mini PC hooked up to another TV but once it is unplugged from the Windows 8 PC and plugged into the Android device it does not work…

  12. Hello, I am having an issue with Flirc/Plex with using an on-screen keyboard. When I try to pull up, say Apple Trailers" in the Video Channels selection and go to search it comes up with an on-screen keyboard when this is displayed none of the arrow keys work and neither does the enter button. The only keys that work are the number keys and the back key (to get off of the on-screen keyboard). Everything else in Plex/Flirc is working great and always has been, this has been my last hurdle. Does anyone have any suggestions? Remote - Harmony One Flirc Programming - Full Keyboard

Quick question before I buy. I saw one unreplied post relating to Flirc not responding after a film starts on RaspBMC. Is this the norm, or does Flirc work fine at the start/middle and after a film is watched on RaspBMC? If it is of any help: As an example, I am using a slightly overclocked 512mb Raspberry Pi, v12 Frodo RaspBMC, with GPU memory increased to allow of the playing of 10gig 1080p MKV files with subs. (I am not asking if it will work in this specific example, but in general when playing avi/mkv rather than just using the online steaming elements of RaspBMC) The other question, which I have seen answered in other threads, but will ask just to make…

Hi there, I've setup up flirc with my Samsung tv remote and it works very well. The "back" function has been assignet with the back button in Flirc's XMBC settings, see here: Well I would like to disable it in fullscreen video mode and tried some settings in my keyboard.xml file (located at \pi\.xbmc\userdata\keymaps). Here is the file: But instead of the info screen, the back action triggers. I don't know how the back function (see screenshow above) is named. Can anyone help me?

  18. I have two XBMC installs to do which require the IR receiver be installed 22 - 32 feet away from each PC. Is there any reason why FLIRC will not work with an active 32 foot (10 meter) USB 2.0 cable? Specifically, I am looking at an active extension cable that is a basically a bus powered single port hub at the end of a 32 foot long run. (http://www.amazon.com/Plugable-Meter-Active-Extension-Female/dp/B004AGX4YO/) How about if there were a powered hub attached to that? Any reason why this wouldn't work through a hub? TIA!

Hi I've been happily using my flirc for many months, but I went to use it recently and it wasn't working. After much cursing and tapping of the remote control, I realized that the flirc dongle was missing. I had it attached it to the front usb port of my HTPC and I can only assume that the kids (aged 2 and 4) opened my tv cabinet and thought this looked like a fun thing to play with. Despite looking high and low, I haven't been able to find it. So anyway, my question is whether anybody knows of a way to lock the flirc to the usb port. I have just put an order in for a replacement flirc and I don't want this one to go missing either. I originally had it attac…

I just received my FLIRC!!!! Very cool! I am running Win 8 with XBMC Frodo. I can configure FLIRC to work with minimalist setting but when I try XBMC, the go command is not responding and nothing records as a key map? Does anyone have suggestions?

Hi, At the moment I am using my PS3 bluetooth remote with eventghost, and use it with XBMC and total media for playing blu rays. Flirc looks like it only works with keyboard commands and is not program spacific. XBMC and total media and other programs use their own keyboard commands, so buttons on the remote cannot be reused in another app if it uses a different keyboard function. I also have events that shutdown and reboot windows If I hold down the corrosponding coloured buttons. This is all perfect and all, but UNFORTUNATLY since it uses blu ray, it eats batteries like pacman eats pills! I've tried the remote sleep app but it sometimes unpairs the remote. …

I'm trying to set up Flirc on a Mac Mini (10.8) with a Harmony one + remote. I tried both Panasonic TC-P65VT30 and SAMSUNG LN46C650L1F. Both with different delay settings (0 / 100 / 200 / 500). But everytime I hit a single key on the remote Flirc just goes beserk and keeps repeating the keystroke. Any idea's on this?

  23. I ordered a Flirc a few weeks ago and it arrived today. I excitedly started setting it up for my Windows Media Center PC. The GUI was pretty intuitive and everything seemed to go ok - until I started testing the remote out in notepad. Half of the number keys that I'd programmed weren't doing anything and I was also missing a few of the other keys. I went back to the GUI and was surprised to see that it allowed me to program the keys again without giving me the "Button Already Exists" error message. For a while, it seemed like every few buttons I'd program, when I went back and tried to program the button a second time, sometimes it would let me program the same butt…

Hi guys, I know there are opened topics on similar problems but somehow i feel mine is a bit different. My understanding of technical stuff and English is limited to basics so if i miss understand something please just point me to solution.
