Firmware Bugs

Describe bugs found during normal operation.

  1. Hello, Just received my first Flirc, started mapping keys for Kodi. Everything seemed to work fine. When I tried to remap an extra key afterwards, flirc stopped responding and does net let me record keys anymore. Tried with 3 PC's & 4 different remotes. Device shows up in device manager as flirc though. Firmware was updated to 3.4 but the problem stays. Seems to not recognize IR anymore. What can I do? Thanks in advance.

  2. Hello everyone, First let me say how excited I was to find this site. I have been searching for a solution to use a remote for my HTPC and this seemed perfect. This is a great device WHEN it works correctly. After having issues upgrading the firmware and I finally got the remote everything seemed smooth sailing. After two days Flirc goes CRAZY on XBMC and send repeated key presses that can only be remedied by unplugging the USB and plugging it back in. I read through the forums and messed with the advanced settings according to suggestions given by Jason. I tried different Inter-Key Delays with a combination of checking the Noise Canceler option. After going back and…

I'm trying to setup my Inteset Universal remote with amazon fire tv gen1. Using the Flirc software for Mac to set it up. During setup when i reach the point where im supposed to program the down button it tells me i've already programmed it. So i skip it. I'm prompted to program other buttons but it keep telling me that i've already programmed that button. I tested it on the amazon tv and the up and down button on the remote have the same function though they are 2 separate buttons. I tried clearing the config multiple times and deleting buttons but it seems to think that those 2 buttons as well as others are the same. Can i not program Flirc with this particular univers…

Hello, I have a Fire TV 2 that I'm using FLIRC with. I've programmed all the buttons and everything is working great, except for the button that I assign Home to. It just doesn't work. I've tried assigning different remote buttons to Home and none work. I even tried assigning a button that is working for a different function to Home and it doesn't work. I have a Fire TV (original) also with FLIRC on it. I tried that FLIRC on the Fire TV 2.0 and the Home button doesn't work either. The Home button on the remote that came with the Fire TV 2 does work. I also tried taking the FLIRC for the Fire TV 2 and plugged it into my original Fire TV and the Home button does work. I'm w…

  6. Started by JMC,

I have 3 flirc devices installed for about a year and had no problems until about a couple of weeks ago when two of them began sending the suspend key to my MythTV Front End randomly. It might be once every 2-3 days or it might happen several times in one day but it is always the suspend key, no others. I plugged one flirc units into my Ubuntu workstation and ran the flirc GUI, which prompted me to upgrade the firmware. Before I upgraded the firmware I saved the configuration just in case the upgrade destroyed the keys I had installed, which it did. After confirming that nothing worked I loaded the configuration back into the flirc but nothing changed. Nothing works. I …

  7. Hello, I'm using a flirc IR receiver since about 8 month on my media center which is running 24/7. I'm experiencing an issue, after a few days the flirc becomes unreactive to IR commands. When the issue is there the IR receiver is still visable with lsusb. There's nothing in the errorlogs pointing out an issue with the flirc. in /var/log/ grep flirc *.* only lists the initialisation no errors at all. When I replug flirc usb adapter it is immediatly working again. Any ideas what could cause this issue? dmesg |grep flirc after replugging the usb IR device: [ 4.041898] usb 1-2.1: Product: flirc [ 4.043832] usb 1-2.1: Manufacturer: flirc.tv [ 4.055620] input: flirc.t…

I've been using a couple of flircs with some Tivo Glo remotes for a long time. The keys have never repeated when I held them down, so I got used to pushing buttons on the remote multiple times. On firmware 3.5 and earlier, if I pressed the same button on the Glo remote too fast, the flirc would register several extra key presses very quickly. After upgrading to firmware version 3.6, almost every single key press on the Glo remote registers extra key presses. If I press left once, I'll get between one and four left key presses. It happens on all of the keys I've configured. I've always programmed the flirc by pointing the remote at the ceiling rather than directly …

  9. Started by Shinj1EVA,

I've updated my Logitech Harmony to the latest Flirc Kodi device, and I've also upgraded to firmware 3.6. However, I've noticed a few things using logkeys Pressing the following keys: MENU - Nothing, expecting 'M' or 'C' STOP - <BackSp>, should be 'X' PLAY - <Enter>, should be 'P' or <SpaceBar> PAUSE - <E-a6>, should be <SpaceBar> FORWARD - <E-d0> SKIP FWD - <E-a6> REWIND - <E-a8> SEEK BACK - <E-a5> Ch/Pg UP - <E-a3> Ch/Pg DOWN - <E-a5> Anyway, point is, the keys don't seem to be issuing the proper command corresponding to Kodi. Any idea how to fix this? I tried …

  10. Started by Phydeaux,

Love my FLIRC devices, I have four and they've been working very well with XBMC (OpenELEC) using the Panasonic remotes that came with my TVs. However.... I decided I wanted to assign an additional button to a keypress. I downloaded the newest software (1.3.4) since I had reinstalled my computer since the last time I did anything with FLIRC. Plugged it in and it offered to update my FW to 3.5 and I allowed it to happen. I also thought, for some reason, why not erase the settings and re-learn them all. And I did this to two of my four FLIRCs. They are basically useless now after spending hours with them. Learning the buttons is just flakey. Sometimes the button is s…

  11. I am running flirc on RASPBMC and its setup pretty well and initally works ok with my remote however I leave my Pi on much of the time and when I come back to it Flirc fails to respond. It does seem to take hours of being left. XBMC is still working fine I can control it with the wifi App remote, but until I reboot XBMC flirc wont do anything. My other USB device (Hard Drive) is fine and still seems awake and responding. Any advice? Thanks

  12. Started by gr8dane,

Just got the FLIRC today and started to program it. The good news is that it works just fine on my Kodi OpenElec x86 based system. It does however not work on my Android tv box "ADT-1" with Kodi installed as well, the direction keys work but no other keyboard shortcut works at all. It's like the android sees it as something other than a keyboard. When I attach a real keyboard to the Android it comes up with a notification saying "Controller Connected" and all keys function as epected, when I plug in the FLIRC it says nothing at all, although as mentioned above the direction keys will work. I know the remote is programmed correctly as I can take the same remote…

hi, thank you for Flirc. I've used your Flirc gen1 hardware for a few years and its worked great. I'm been using it succesfully with a Tivo remote like this for a long time: http://www.weaknees.com/images/tivo_remote/s2_sa_tivo2.jpg So I recently bought another Flirc from amazon: Its a newer hardware version: $ ./flirc_util.exe version flirc_util version v1.3.6 [v1.3.6+] Firmware: v2.3 [34C4B78B] it worked ok for a few weeks but i was just having trouble with the interkey delay. With version 1 HW, i could press the remote control buttons quickly, say <400ms between presses, and they would all register. Now, sometimes it was taking 750ms wait b/w…

  15. This is my first post on the forums...just want to say that Flirc is fantastic and I've had lots of success with it so far. This is really the only issue I've run into that I believe is caused by Flirc. I'm using a Harmony 1100, Flirc and EventGhost to automate launching of Windows Media Center in three different modes (Live TV, Media Browser, and ArcSoft TotalMedia Theatre 6). Because of a lack of key combos - and because ArcSoft is so temperamental - I have to use EG to close WMC and relaunch it in whatever mode I've requested. As a result, I have 4 key combos mapped in EG: Shift+Ctrl+Alt+F9 (Start WMC in Live TV mode) Shift+Ctrl+Alt+F10 (Start WMC in Media Browser…

  16. First off I love Flirc! Used it for months with a Mac Mini XBMC setup I had going. However I recently switched to using a Harmony Ultimate Remote and an Amazon Fire TV. At first I couldn't get it to stop sending double keystrokes when it came to navigating. I found using the full keyboard profile INSTEAD of the Amazon Fire TV profile (along with a few other settings) solved this. However I'm still having some difficulty getting everything to function properly. I would say 90% of the time the Flirc doesn't recognize "short" presses from my Harmony remote. It does register when I hold down the button for a longer period of time, but it's kind of annoying to have…

  17. I just received my flirc today and the device is not recognized by windows 8.1, in device manager it says "Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Failed) Please help I want to use this thing, it's worthless atm :/ Edit: I did install the flirc drivers, I am using this with an Alienware 17 so I only have USB 3.0, I read somewhere on the forums just now that its not compatible with 3.0 :/ this is the worst 35 euros I have ever spent thus far

I'm getting absolutely no response when setting up a new flirc through the gui. I've tried four remotes and so far have not been able to map a single key. GUI shows the flirc is connected and from what I have seen the setup should be pretty straight forward. I'm using it on a mac mini with osx 10.6.8 any help or tips would be appreciated.

  19. GUI Universal Build, 1.3.6 Firmware 3.6 Controllers: Full Keyboard Mac Yosemite 10.10.2 Mac OEM Wireless Key Board MacMini Just upgraded to the new gui 1.3.6 and Firmware. The Command and Control keys are still reversed. For example when I press Command + anykey the Control +anykey pressed lights up in the GUI. When I press Control + anykey the Command + anykey pressed lights up in the GUI. Also, in an earlier build the Command or Control key would light up (by itself) as soon as it was pressed. Now the special key won't light until the paired key is pressed along with it. It was a lot more friendly the other way.

Hi, I have had the FLIRC for over a month, and its driving me a bit insane getting it to work. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers, but at best i can only get it to display a firmware error. The rest of the time it will just fail to detect the module at all. Would really appreciate some help to sort this out. Do you require any other information? The power draw shouldn't be an issue, i'm on a full tower PC and FLIRC is plugged into a port in the back. EDIT: To add to the above, in the off chance i got it working by shifting the FLIRC around all my ports, the moment i restart my computer it goes back to being undetected. this is reall…

  22. Hey, I'm successful in installing the driver and the gui. I also upgraded the firmware successfully from 3.1 to 3.5, but I'm unable to record any remote. I tried it also on my windows 7 laptop and same results. In my last attempt on my macbook it seemed to somewhat work, but doesn't help me of course. Any suggestions? Thanks, Rafael

  23. Started by sheap74,

I just bought the FLIRC to control my Windows Media Center PC connected to a Vizio TV. I am trying to use my Vizio VUR10 remote with the FLIRC, but when I try to program the remote I get some keys that the FLIRC thinks are already programmed. http://www.amazon.com/VIZIO-Remote-Control-VUR10-0980-0306-0005/dp/B0044Y2ATC (Note: I use Bluetooth to control the TV functions, and have a separate device setup on my TV for FLIRC to intercept the IR codes) The simplest example is the number keys - I can record "2", but when I try to record "3" the FLIRC GUI complains that it's already recorded. If I use the buttons, I notice that pressing "2" or "3" seems to be recogni…

Hey, I have two Openelec boxes, one running in the living room and one in the bedroom. I used to run both with a pair of old clunky MCE remotes with USB IR receivers. Last year I decided to try replacing the MCE remote in the bedroom with a FLIRC and a One For All URC 7960. I was very impressed. So easy to set up and use. Awesome! So a while later I decided to do the same with the living room. However this one did not respond well at all. Sometimes a button press would work and sometimes it wouldn't. (Sometimes contorting myself into some advanced yoga positions seemed to help.) I did a little general (non FLIRC) research and there was some mention of interference f…
