	Just upgraded from 3G Fire Stick to 4K Max 2nd gen. On my Harmony One remote using the FLIRC interface the OK button works everywhere except within a search box to open the alphabet window. In the search box it performs a carriage return rather than the OK or Select function. Apparently the Fire Stick is interpreting the FLIRC OK code as a "return" code rather than a "select" code.
</p>

<p>
	Is this an issue that can be corrected with my current FLIRC (bought 10/2022) or is a new version of firmware needed?

	The majority of Flirc commands work automatically. However, I'm having trouble getting the 'CodecInfo' command to work. I have mapped the key to a button, and also on the Harmony touchscreen, but neither does anything. Not sure if this is a bug, or if I should set up the device as XBMC/MCE?

	Hey, I'm seeing a failed unit test with a brand new unit I bought off amazon. Tried on both windows and linux machines, same issue.

<p>
	What is this Marlin FW? Is there some new 4.10.16 firmware released? Firmware upgrades or downgrades also fail as the wrong version.

	Anyone have any ideas? Thank you!

	Hi,

<p>
	When I pause a video in Kodi for a long time (couple of minutes) then I cannot unpause/resume the video using my remote+Flirc.<br />
	It simply doesnot respond to the remote/Flirc anymore.<br />
	When that situation happens I use the iPhone app "Sybu Kodi" or I plugin a real keyboard to unpause/resume the video and that works, <br />
	and after that Kodi responds to the remote/Flirc again as well.<br />
	Any idea what might be causing this issue?<br />
	Apart from this issue my remote+Flirc is working fine all the time.<br />
	Any help is much appreciated, thanks and regards,

	Hi,
</p>

<p>
	I've been scoured this forum, and the internet for a solution to my issue. The device works perfectly on other devices Mac/PC (tested both).<br />
	According to some other threads I am not the only one to have issues with the RPi 4 (Rasbian Buster). From what I have been able to find there seem to be a couple of things to try:
</p>

<ul><li>
		<strong>Try all the different USB ports: </strong>Done, did not work
	</li>
	<li>
		<strong>Try another high quality PSU.</strong> Tried all i could find at home from various vendors, even went out and bought the <a href="https://www.raspberrypi.com/products/type-c-power-supply/" rel="external nofollow">official PSU</a>. Did not work.
	</li>
	<li>
		<strong>Running latest FW. </strong>Running 4.9.3
	</li>
</ul><p>
	the symptoms I am experiencing:
</p>

<ul><li>
		The device becomes unresponsive and disconnected at random, and then connects. I have not been able to find any systematic pattern, but seem to jump in matter of seconds.
	</li>
</ul><p>
	Observations:
</p>

<ul><li>
		Not a GUI thing, same behaviour when trying to interact through CLI
	</li>
</ul><p>
	Any ideas of what to do, or should i just give up on using the Flirc on the Pi?<br />
	I'd be happy to provide additional information if someone can tell me what they would need.
</p>

<p>
	Hi,
</p>

<p>
	I have written a tool which is based on flirc_repeater (<a href="https://github.com/andrewfraley/flirc_repeater" rel="external nofollow">https://github.com/andrewfraley/flirc_repeater</a>). This tool waits for an incoming key which is recognised by Flirc and then re-transmitts a different key using <span style="font-family:'Courier New', Courier, monospace;">flirc_util sendir</span> based on some routing rules. If you are slow and methodical about pressing the remote buttons, this system works well.
</p>

<p>
	However, if you "spam" one of the remote keys with a cadence of approximately 0.5seconds it looks like the Flirc code that dispatches keys to the host and the functions that allow sendir to work deadlock within the Flirc USB device. Flirc then becomes totally non-responsive and requires an unplug and replug to resolve.
</p>

<p>
	I have tried workaround such as mutexes in the calling code to try and avoid reading from the <span style="font-family:'Courier New', Courier, monospace;">/dev/input/eventX</span> at the same time as dispatching IR codes via <span style="font-family:'Courier New', Courier, monospace;">sendir </span>but this has not helped because I cannot control how quickly the user presses the button on the remote.
</p>

<p>
	I am open to workarounds for this including some way to cut and restore power to the USB port to "reboot" the Flirc but so far attempts using for example <span style="font-family:'Courier New', Courier, monospace;">/sys/bus/usb/drivers/usb/unbind</span> and <span style="font-family:'Courier New', Courier, monospace;">/sys/bus/usb/drivers/usb/bind</span> have been unsuccessful.

	Situation: Fiirc USB v2 to control my KPN TV set-top box. (Sagemcom DIW7022 modified) wit Harmony Hub.
</p>

<p>
	I have a working configuration downloaded from <a href="https://kiljan.org/2019/03/30/controlling-android-tv-and-kodi-with-logitech-harmony-and-flirc/" rel="external nofollow">This Website</a>. But some controls are missing. I can control those with a Logitech K400r keyboard plugged into the STB. so I want to add those functions via a record_api script in a .bat file. I found the HID codes after quite a lot of online research.
</p>

<p>
	The script has randomly (?) worked 2 times, but 99% of the times it just hangs waiting for a IR input at the first button. This is on a w11 laptop and a w11 desktop PC. I tried compatibility modes XP, vista, 7 , 8. Different USB port etc.

	NEVERMIND.  sorry.  this does actually appear to be real ir noise.  When I cover the thing fully with my hand it stops.  Sorry for the bad report.

<p>
	Trying to set up a new flirc.  Plugged into my Mac.  Attempts to record keys all fail as the key gets "pressed" for me immediately.  When I turn on "enable ir recording" I see s steady stream of events coming in.
</p>

<p>
	The device is not sitting on a table with me, there's no logical way it's actually getting all this ir.  I put it under a box, and it still sees the same events.

	I have 3 different kodi boxes that I have Flirc USBs on and I programmed each to use an old Netgear remote I used to have.  I wanted to modernize my setup and maybe use a simpler remote so I wanted to use an XBox remote instead.  I also wanted to setup a 4th Kodi box so I bought a new Flirc USB device.  I am going crazy trying to set this up using GUI version 3.27.16 and Firmware v4.10.5.  It is just making no sense.  I bring up the Kodi controller and start programming.  There seems to be no rhyme or reason why one key will be programmed sometimes and not others.  I can sit there hitting the same button over and over and over and the Flirc GUI just seems to ignore it.  I'll get a key programmed but then pressing the button, the GUI never interprets it right again.  It just seem random when it works and when it does not.  I thought the Flirc USB was going bad so I purchased another brand new one and it is acting exactly the same way.  I plug in my original Flirc USB (programmed for my old Netgear remote still) and it seems to be 100% accurate and consistent.
</p>

<p>
	I have not touched my original here but as I have 3 of them that seem to consistently work, I plugged one into my PC.  Flric GUI says there is a firmware update.  My old (working) one is running v4.9.3 but all my new ones are running firmware v4.10.5.  Is there a way to downgrade Flirc USB firmware?  Are others having troubles programming their Flirc USB devices?<br />
	I am scared to upgrade the firmware in the old (working) Flirc USB devices and I can't get the new ones to work at all.  I have tried installing the Flirc application on a brand new Windows install, I have tried on windows 10, windows 11 and even Linux, it is just not working for me.  I have even tried putting the Flirc USB device in a box such that no other light could be getting to the receiver (thinking maybe there was some random IR being received).  Nothing seems to help yet the older Flirc are all working consistently.
</p>

<p>
	Please help!  I used to like this product very much but it seems to be completely broken with latest sw and fw.

	Hi, I'm pulling my hair out trying to debug my flirc devices. I have 3 flirc's for three different systems, all running debian bookworm. all three are intel nuc's, two of the systems keep throwing the same error. it comes back and usable after a day or so. other usb devices seem unaffected. During that time that specific flirc seem to work fine in a different system. other flirc do not work on the system with the error till some time after(when the orig flirc works too). reboots don't fix it, reinstalling the os doesn't fix it. changed remotes (from sony to off brand) doesn't fix it. flirc_util format, nothing. tried using the flirc program, still no luck.

	I just got the Fire TV Edition of Flirc. On each launch of Flirc 3.27.5 GUI for Windows, it says there's an update available which I do attempt and it says Firmware Successfully Updated. However, it remains on 4.9.6. I tried this on two different Windows PCs. I also noticed it displays the Flirc as Disconnected during this process. If I try Load Embedded Firmware from the Advanced Settings to try and force the update, it's the same result except the GUI shows Connected during it.

	Hi!
</p>

<p>
	I've been happy Flirc user, at least until now. After last firmware and Flirc app update on my Windows 11 HTPC, Flirc works only until I use irtools.exe with sendir command. After using it, Flirc shows as connected in the app, but can't read any IR codes. This can be fixed by unplugging and replugging Flirc into USB port, but only until I use irtools again.
</p>

<p>
	This is debug output with a few button presses when Flirc doesn't work:

<p>
	I am 90% positive it stopped working after upgrade, but can't be 100% sure because before the upgrade I was using flirc_utils.exe instead of irtools.exe
</p>

<p>
	Please help me with this issue. Thanks!

	After updating to the latest software and firmware the GUI must be open and must be the active window for any actions to happen.  If GUI is minimized or closed then no actions happen for an IR functions.  Open the GUI and make it the active window and it all works normally and responds to IR.

	Hi,
</p>

<p>
	<strong>after freeze in firmware update, die Flirc USB dongle seems bricked.</strong>
</p>

<p>
	Installed flirc setup in guest windows 10 in an qemu/kvm guest system on host Linux system (Debian 12).
</p>

<p>
	Tried to configure the dongle. Seemed fine, minimal setup, signed the keys etc.
</p>

<p>
	Tried the dongle in host Linux system. Didn't work.
</p>

<p>
	Back to guest Windows on host Linux. Accepted the suggestion for a firmware upgrade.<br />
	The upgrade stuck. Canceled after 40 minutes. After that, the dongle was no longer recognized under Windows.
</p>

<p>
	<strong>In Linux lsusb shows the dongle.</strong>
</p>

<p>
	Then installed flirc in host Linux. The program starts without a dongle.
</p>

<p>
	When the dongle is inserted, the program crashes. Error message:<br />
	lib/libflirc/bootloader/bl_3.3.c fl_sku(115): not a valid image
</p>

<p>
	So, how to get it work.
</p>

<p>
	Greetings from Hamburg/Germany

	I've tried everything I can think of, but I think that my Flirc Fire TV Edition is bricked.
</p>

<ul>
	<li>
		Installed version v3.27.15 of the Flirc software on Windows 10 Professional and started the gui
	</li>
	<li>
		Connected a brand new Flirc Fire TV Edition; asked if I wanted to upgrade the firmware.  Started the upgrade.
	</li>
	<li>
		Upgrade never completed.
	</li>
	<li>
		After 30 minutes, killed the gui.  Restarted the gui.
	</li>
	<li>
		Flirc never recognized as connected.  Tried plugging into a different port, rebooting.  Nothing works.
	</li>
	<li>
		Installed the linux software on Debian 12.  Neither the gui nor the flirc_util ever recognize the flirc as connected.
	</li>
	<li>
		The Flirc does not show up on a lsusb listing
	</li>
	<li>
		The Flirc does not show any usb activity in the system log when plugging/unplugging it.  (Tried this on a different linux system also).
	</li>
</ul>

<p>
	Please help.
