  1. Started by Endicot,

Love the case. My question is swapping/replacing boards in the case. I have the 2nd gen case with a RPI Model 3B, I want to swap it out and with a Model 3B+. I hear the thermal pad will need to be replaced with a thinner pad. Where can I get thermal pads for both Model 3B or Model 3B+ (I live in Canada)? What should I be looking for? P.s. I not much of a hardware guy, so I don't have any experience with Thermal Paste/Grease. Is this a good alternative? Please advise.

I've got the first iteration of the non-SE Flirc dongle, but I've got an issue that it wakes my HTPC from Hibernate at every IR signal it picks up. Now, I want to buy the Flirc-SE so that I can wake my HTPC with my remote from cold shutdown as well. Can the Flirc-SE be programmed in some way to only wake the HTPC with only one specific IR signal?

Hi first-time poster I’ve had the flirc for about two years now. My computer recently crashed. I have a new computer arriving today. Is the configuration loaded onto the flirc or will I have to set it up again from scratch?

Tried this in Show but no replies. Just done a fresh install of Ubuntu 18.04 ( corrupt SSD drive). Tried to install flirc from the download section. Extracted files Flirc and Flirc_util. Not sure what to do with them. The info at the end of the download section for Linux indicates some dependencies and putting the above files in usr/local/bin maybe. Needed Dependencies: libhidapi-hidraw0 libqt5core5a libqt5network5 libqt5xml5 libqt5xmlpatterns5 libhid qt5-qtbase qt5-qtsvg hidapi cp the 99-flirc.rules rules to /etc/udev/rules.d/ optionally copy flirc_util and flirc to /usr/local/bin/ Not sure what this means, can you explain in more de…

  6. Hello all, wondering if anyone has had any success getting Flirc to work with a Xantech IR repeater. I have the ML85K model: http://www.amazon.com/XANTECH-ML85K-LCD-Friendly-Micro-Link/dp/B00K3AIZFE. It works great with all my other devices, but given the variable mileage everyone seems to be getting with Flirc and various IR repeaters, thought I'd double-check. Appreciate any real world experience or other info that anyone can share. Thanks.

  11. This has probably been covered many times before but I have looked and looked for the answer to this but I cannot find it. For quite a while my "Home" button was not working when using my Harmony One remote to control my FireTV. I have finally gotten around to try and fix it. I updated the firmware on the Flirc and download the FireTV device on my Harmony and all of the buttons including "Home" seem to be working except the "Back" button. Whenever I press this button on the Harmony, it seems to perform ""Pause" or "Select". Can someone please help or direct me to a post that covers this? Thanks, Ron

  13. Hi, I kindly ask for your advice. As the NUC does not have an IR-receiver I bought the Flirc v2 to get it done. Unfortunately Libreelec does not identify the usb dongle. ir-keytable always show 'no device'. Is there a howto to guide me through the setup or someone telling me what to do. I tried to follow this instructions 'https://wiki.libreelec.tv/infrared_remotes' but as there is no device, there is nothing to set up... Kind regards, Tom

Setup: Flirc SE, Logitech Harmony 650, Windows 10 I'm trying to perform initial programming of the Flirc SE. The only command that seems to work is the one that doesn't use USB (i.e., the power switch). I've tried to program a few other keys on the full keyboard profile and none seem to do anything. What's strange is that the programming step appears to work just fine. For instance, I use Flirc software to program the J key with my desired remote command. Flirc software gives the recorded successfully status. I try to use the J command afterwards and it doesn't work. Tried several keys, all the same effect. The key appears to program, but doesn't do anything afterwar…

The thermal pad that came with my FLIRC case is too thick to use with my RPi 3 B+ ... the Pi won't fit in the case so I can screw it in. Should I just use thermal paste? I have some leftover from a recent PC build.

I purchased my mother a FireTv and I need 2 simple codes which are not on the fireTv profile. All she does is use it to watch cable. The whole FireTv interface is too much for her to learn all at once. The TV is plugged in to hdmi1. I've set the TV up so it always goes directly to the last input it was on. So whenever she turns it on, it will always go to cable unless someone else left it on another input. Right now she has to use 2 remotes. Her "universal" remote for cable and the firetv remote to turn the stupid thing on and off, and to adjust the volume. So I just need 3 codes. The 2 most import are volume up and down. Nice to have woul…

fwiw, both the Flirc and Forum.Flirc site have a major problem with reCaptcha preventing legitimate access to the forum and other Flirc locations where it is used. In addition to reCaptcha's general frustration factor, on this site, it is apparently mis-configured so that it cascades the difficulty in getting approved every time that it is used... for example, when it is used to sign up for the main site, the difficulty for signing up for the forum is increased. If you make a mistake (such as not knowing the "company name") the difficulty in passing reCaptcha increases exponentially with each try until reCaptcha simply continues to present images without an appr…

Hello, I've a Fire TV Stick 4K with the latest version of FLIRC (the black one) and a Logitech Harmony Remote. I've added the FLIRC profile for Fire TV to my Harmony Remote and I've loaded the predefined FLIRC Fire TV profile in the FLIRC application. So far so good, all standard buttons work as expected. Now I would like to add a macro (containing several standard Fire TV button presses) to one of the unused keys of my Harmony Remote. Therefore I've added another "dummy" device to my Fire TV activity in the logitech software and I've assigned one of this device's buttons to an unused button of my Harmony Remote. Now I want to assign a sequence of…

Hi altogether I have a Flirc Generation 1 and I would like to update the firmware and change the mapping. I downloaded the latest version of the UI for macOS: v3.20.4 When the Flirc is connected to the mac the UI gives me: Firmware Version Unsupported You have a newer firmware version than this software supports please check the website for a newer version of this software That sounds weird, the firmware on the Flirc stick is from 2013! How to fix this? Thanks!

  21. Started by AntMan3DFX,

Could you please add a Pause/Break button to the GUI? It would make it much easier for me to program (as I am programming many remotes). It would also be helpful for others who never have used CMD prompt. I think this was mentioned a year or two ago so I have been waiting for this update, but has progressed stopped? Thanks for any info.

  22. I wanted to use flirc with a kvm switch, which uses hotkeys for switching. I hear the new flirc allows for macros, so will it work for something like this?

Really excited about this device As it looks like it is going to open up communicating and controlling PC's using programmable remotes. I have several decades of experience with the "One for All" universal remotes including the "JP1" programming interface as well as a number of years working with Harmony remotes. I have worked extensively with microsoft MCE remotes and the microsoft MCE IR keyboard including delving into the protocol problems such as MCE keyboard commands triggering events on other, unrelated IR controlled devices. The Flirc USB dongle also has another welcome feature... it's Windows driver has the capability to "wake" a computer from "sleep" m…

  24. Started by newguy1234,

I've seen this asked a couple times on this forum in the past, but I'm wondering if it changed. Can the Flirc USB send IR commands now? The "New Hardware Features" section shows an IR Transmitter, as does the technical specs, so it seems the answer should be "yes", but previous forum posts say "no" If that is the case, how does one go about sending an IR signal? My use-case is that I want to send commands from my computer (via a Python script, ideally, but an API from any language would be fine) to essentially use my PC as a universal remote. To be clear, I don't want to use a remote control to control my PC, I want to use my PC as a remote control to control other de…
