I recently purchased a FLIRC receiver (don't have it yet but I'd like to get prepared). I'll be using it with a Shield TV running Kodi and an X-Sight universal remote. I use JP1 files so the remote can be configured as practically any remote control. What would be the best remote control configuration to start with? I'm also for tips on setting up the FLIRC for Kodi. Thanks

Hi All, I've got a Home Theater Master MX-500 [set to a Replay TV code set] controlling a Gen. 2 Fire TV via a Flirc. On another forum made a passing reference to using number buttons on a remote with either an Amazon Fire TV or Android TV streaming device. A request for details went unanswered. So that's the question: Can it be done and, if so, how to go about it? Thanks!

Digital things just seem to work, or not. However, getting clear signal is still important, weak signal can cause erroneous reception. Thus, my question is what does the sensitivity diagram look like? In other words, how to position the sensor to get the best signal from remote?

I have been using my gen 1 flirc with my intel nuc box for the past few years, everything has been working great with it. I love this thing! I recently purchased a new Nvidia Shield and I'm having problem with my Harmony 700 remote not working with the Flirc profile. I went through adding a device in the myharmony app, picked Flirc and then Shield TV as the model # and after syncing it doesn't do anything. I updated the firmware to the latest 3.9 too but that didn't help. I tried my old XBMC profile in my Harmony remote and that worked fine with the Shield which I was going to live with but then realized there is Shield specific commands that I don't have mappe…

Hi All, Just connected my Flirc(newer model) to change a key and went ahead and hit okay on upgrade firmware. Now regretting it! It seems dead and whenever I start the GUI I get 'invalid sku' Same as this unanswered post: http://forum.flirc.tv/index.php?/topic/2561-invalid-device-sku-when-updating-firmware/ Here is some output from the command line tool: ------------------------------------------------------------- flirc_util version v2.4.0 [v2.4.0+] Booloader: v3.2.1 [0xDBDAC0ED] Settings: sleep detection: NA noise canceler: NA inter-key delay: NA seq. modifiers: NA variant: Flirc builtin profiles: NA Memory Info: NA [D] …

Alright, so I'm moving over to Nvidia Shield for my main player. I previously used my FLIRC device and remote setup for a windows HTPC. But I see others are using their FLIRC also for nvidia shield. How would that work? Do you configure it on windows and then plug it back onto the shield once it's configured?

Hello, I have a Harmony one, Nvidia Shield, and flirc 2 device. The developers of MythTV have been working on a mythfrontend that works on Android and in particular the Shield TV. This seems to work well, but the standard Shield remote is limited in buttons. For my current backend (x86_64), I have an MCE receiver and just leverage an Harmony MCE profile. This works quite well. I would like to migrate this configuration to run on the Shield + MythTV + flirc + Harmony. All of MythTV can be controlled by keyboard input. Unfortunately, I am not clear on how I would program FLIRC. I would like to ha…

I'm cross-posting this from Reddit as I still haven't been able to figure this out. I have an Nvidia Shield 2017 setup with Flirc and my Harmony 650 remote. After a bunch of messing around, I finally got the remote working exactly as expected in all the apps I use. However, there is one weird issue that I haven't been able to track down an answer to. If my system is in an off state (tv off, receiver off and shield in sleep or on mode), and on my harmony remote I hit "Watch TV", everything starts up as expected. Only problem is, none of the buttons to control the shield will work immediately. Over the next couple of minutes, more and more buttons will star…

hi, i was looking to buy an nvidia shield to replace a few gadgets from my living room tv rig and i read that while the nvidia shield has no IR receiver a flirc receiver can be used to make it remote compatible. i was wondering if the old model flirc ould work, or would i need the newer one? Also, i was hoping that someone could post a link to a how-to to get flirc and the nvidia shield to work together, just so i know what im doing when i get my new toy. thanks in advance :)

So I'm new to using the Flirc and bought it for my second HTPC build as it had no built in IR receiver. I'm running windows 10 64 bit and have Kodi installed. I'm using a Harmony 250 and the only things that needs to be controlled are a TV and a HTPC. I had some issues with the Harmony and used the Flirc to map some keyboard letters to the harmony coloured keys. However, I ran into issues on how to turn the PC and TV on and off. The pc is setup to always go to sleep and not turn off or hibernate. I mapped the Flirc keyboard "Wake" button to the Harmony 250 Power button and woke the PC but not the TV. Pressing it while everything is on , switches the TV o…

Hi, Just bought the FLIRC. Tried to install it on Windows 10. The FLIRC shows up as Keyboard under the "Bluetooth and other devices". But it did not show up in the Device Manager. I had to use to Zadig to make it even appear there. But the Device Manager shows both flirc 0 and flirc 1 under "libusbK" Devices. I have also provided the log. States that the HID-device can not be found (AFAICS). Anyone knows what to do? Cheers, Markus flirc_log.txt

I have a 2nd Gen FireTV, 2nd Gen FLIRC, and a Harmony 650. The FLIRC works great with my FireTV and Harmony remote other than the following: 1. When using my remote to operate my TV, any time I push a button, the FLIRC plugged in to my FireTV thinks I am using it and starts opening apps and streaming shows even though the TV is the active device. How can I stop this? Is there a setting that I can use to disable the FLIRC when not in use (I.e. when not using the FireTV)? 2. The play/pause button on the Harmony remote was unable to be programmed to the FLIRC for the FireTV. Is this common/can be fixed? thank you!

Hi There, I'd thought I'd finally found an acceptable streaming device for my Plan, but found our MX-500 universal programmable/learning remotes seem to be incompatible with the Xiaomi MiBox (Android TV) built-in IR. (I've a GE/Jasco IR remote that works, but the MX-500s cannot learn from it.) So the question is: Can I salvage this with a Flirc? I'm thinking I can, based on this post: http://forum.flirc.tv/index.php?/topic/1116-using-flirc-with-amazon-firetv/&page=4&tab=comments#comment-9650 but I'd like to know with some degree of certainty. Otherwise I fear the MiBox is going to have to go back and I'm going to have to start all over. …

I have been running the 2nd gen FLIRC since it came out and never had a problem with updating. Recently, it got held back. So I followed the instructions on the debian 64 bit, and i get multiple unmet dependencies. One of which doesn't exist. I'm running 18.04, standard kernel, xubuntu desktop. <code> wolf@wolf-desktopbubba:~$ sudo apt install flirc [sudo] password for wolf: Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable distribution that some required packa…

I bought a Flirc some years ago for the simple task of sleeping & waking a PC from a Harmony remote. I've never been able to make it work either from any generic remote or from the Harmony. If I program individual keyboard keys they all behave as expected but no matter what I do, I cannot get any response to power commands, either to sleep or wake. This is on a Dell PC originally running W7 & now running W10 & no luck on either OS. Other USB devices such a mini wireless keyboard or wired mouse will wake the PC, just not the Flirc. I gave up the first time & every now & then I stumble across the Flirc in a drawer & try again. I've just put a SS…

Hi, I'm considering buying a Flirc to use with a media center running on Server 2016. I just want to confirm that the drivers will install properly and are correctly signed etc to work on Server 2016? I am actually having to replace an old MCE IR receiver as the drivers aren't signed and won't load in Server 2016. (I know it's a bit weird to run a media center on a server OS, please don't tell me about it.)

Am I missing something. I just mapped my remote using the Kodi profile. I mapped the shutdown button on the template but it's not doing anything. I've used the mapping add-on inside Kodi but it only gives the options of shutting down, rebooting etc for the one button. None of them are bringing up the Shutdown menu that comes when you hit the shutdown button in Kodi. Is it possible to get a one button press to bring up the shutdown menu? RPi 3 B with LibreElec

Hi there, I got a Flirc IR universal receiver I want to use with Kodi. I first plugged it in a Mac running Flirc's GUI, programmed a few basic buttons (directional arrows, back) from a disused IR remote control. Kodi runs from LibreELEC on a Raspberry Pi 3. When I plug the Flirc IR receiver into the Raspberry Pi 3, nothing happens as I press the buttons on the remote control. Rebooted, same absence of result. What could be happening there?

I have a Harmony Elite, which doesn't have dedicated number buttons. I'm using a WD TV Live with the Slingplayer. I've added my FLIRC to my Harmony profile, my plan was to manually map full keyboard shortcuts so I could get a 0-9 on the touchscreen since, for whatever reason, Harmony does not give me the number functions on the touchscreen. However, FLIRC doesn't give me 0-9 in the Harmony options, it just lists "Aspect Ratio - Zoom Normal" which is the Kodi profile. The way the Harmony works now, apparently you can only slide things over to the touchscreen that are in the list. Is there a "full keyboard" FLIRC profile on Harmony? I could "teach" the FLIRC the commands …

There is mention of Gen 2 / V2 cases around the internet and some suggestion that the cases now allow visibility of the LEDs with the Pi 3B / 3B+. Your product page doesn't agree with this and your product page is what I am inclined to believe but sometimes these things slip through the gap so I wanted to be sure. Thanks for clarifying.

Hi, I've tried running Flirc.exe on 2 windows 10 (1 laptop 1 desktop) with no luck. I have the same error on both: Should I just download and install the DLL manually from their github? Shouldn't it be included in the exe? Thanks
