Hi! I just received my FLIRC today and I really just couldn't figure out how to link up my Broadlink RM4 Pro to the FLIRC to control my NVDIA Shield 2019. Does anyone know how to do it and can guide me through? Thank you in advance!

Hi everyone! I haven't bought the Flirc just yet, my original plan was to buy one along with a Broadlink device so that I could map a button on my non-smart IR tv remote to have the Broadlink send an IR signal to another device (a HDMI switcher box that changes input). But I'm now reading that the 2nd gen of the Flirc does some transmitting! If this is the case then it would mean I don't even need to buy the Broadlink. Could anyone confirm? It doesn't need much range as I'll place the Flirc right in front of the device I'm hoping to transmit to (the HDMI switcher box). Thanks!

Hey all just looking for some tips. I recently bought an Nvidia Shield Pro, which runs KODI and the usual apps. I want to control everything with my Harmony One remote so I bought a FLIRC to make it happen. I have programmed all the keys the way I want it to work. Now when I first start up the Shield it all seems to work OK for maybe 10 minutes to an hour, but at some point certain buttons stop working, usually it's the 'back' or 'enter' buttons but could be others. The original Shield remote works OK. After a few days of this I plugged in an older FLIRC I had running FW version 3 something, and everything works fine with that. Leading me to conclude there m…

I purchased Flirc USB to replace an old Microsoft eHome USB infrared receiver that I used with my custom build Windows 10 PC. My PC does not have Bluetooth. I use a Logitech Harmony Smart Control remote and have created 3 Harmony Hub activities using 4 devices: Microsoft Media PC SE, Microsoft Media Player, AVR and TV. I have customised the buttons on my remote for each activity. After installing the Flirc Windows software, I updated to the latest available firmware and confirmed that all built-in profiles have been selected. I picked up a flirc as it was the only USB IR transceiver available online in my area and I wanted to do some experiments with home automation on a handful of devices that use infrared remotes, specifically LED lighting and an air conditioner. I've had great success with the lights and was able to reverse engineer the remote and write scripts to control them with the flirc. The air conditioner is a different story. Air conditioner remotes send huge packets with all of the current settings for the device. Hi, I just bought a Flirc USB device (Dori version) to use with a Dish Network 20.1 remote to control Kodi on headless Debian Linux. First, I added your repo and installed Flirc from that to a test laptop that has a desktop environment installed. The first thing that happened when I ran Flirc was I got prompted to update the firmware to 4.9.3, which I accepted. There's no profile for my remote so I tried toggling around the different built-in profiles to get a good keymap for Kodi setup. I'll try to keep this brief: I'd like to use my FLIRC as a HID device to deliver a macro to my KVM switch, in order to switch its inputs. The hotkey for switching my KVM is: SCROLL LOCK + SCROLL LOCK + [1 or 2] I set up the macro on my Flirc: When I plug the Flirc into a HID port of my KVM, it seems to be working as intended (i.e. when I press the remote button, I can see the scroll-lock light go on then off on my primary keyboard) -- except the KVM doesn't recognize it as the hotkey control. I presume this is because Flirc doesn't "look like" a HID device to the KVM? Any ideas?

I’m a newbie to Flirc. Purchased it so I could control a 2019 Nvidia Shield Pro with my URC RF20 remote which controls equipment in a cabinet. Setup the Flirc on my iMac for the Gen 2 Shield remote and used an older, no longer used, Roku IR remote to record the key presses. Success! Then I discovered that the universal Samsung TV remotes Menu command also caused the Shields System Menu to open. And the Up, Down, Left, Right and Select commands as well. So I found a very old TDK CD Recorder remote and used its Display button to record the Shields System Menu command to see if I was on the right track. That didn’t work. I’m clearly not getting it so I’m asking for some guid…

I ordered a flirc dongle on feb/25th/2022 I did not receive a confirmation email to any of my email addresses. I see the charge in my credit card. Without an order number I can't see the status of my order. If I cannot find a way to track the status of my order, and I don't receive it soon, I will have to place a charge back with my bank. I would much prefer someone tell me how to see the status of my order and send me an email or something confirming my order. I want the dongle.

Hi. I've recently bought a Flirc (v2) to use on Kodi running on Linux, I boot up and it boots straight to Kodi. I have a "screensaver" set on Kodi so that after a few minutes idle the screen goes blank. When this happens, Flirc stops responding entirely. Will not wake up screen or resume playback. When I wake up the machine with a mouse, Flirc works fine....but as somebody who pauses media a lot to do other things, it's makes Flirc pretty unusable if I keep having to find other methods to wake the screen up.... Hi there, I have a gen 2 flirc and have just recently got it working 100% (I think??) with my 2019 shield TV. I had it working for a while using the 'enter/return' button on the full keyboard, but soon realized that the button did not work every where, for instance i could not type a letter on the soft keyboard using it. Then I tried using the 'Nvidia Shield Gen 2' and found it worked correctly. The flirc is a fantastic little device. I also have a programmable keyboard I have the same problem on but I am unable to find a ascii code to make it work as per the orginal button, can anyone please help me with a ascii code that will do the same as the orginal???? …

Hi all, is it possible to control a browser (e.g. Chromium, Opera) with flirc via remote control or exist a special browser with flirc control? Background is, that for some web browser based applications no Android TV compatible app exist. Solutions with browser are working but control via remote control is almost impossible. Currently I use Chromecast in combination with a tablet to control my "Piwigo" picture gallery on Android TV, which works relatively well. But a control with remote control would be much better an I think beneficial for other browser based applications on Android TV also. Regards, Jürgen

Recently I bought a Flirc case for my Raspberry Pi 4. I liked it so much that I also ordered Flirc cases for my two other Raspberry Pi 3B+'s. So far so good. Before arrival I watched a couple of unboxing reviews on Youtube. In the more recent videos I saw there were 2 thermal pads supplied with the case. One for the 2B/3B and a thinner one for the 3B+ because it has a taller chip. After arrival I saw there was only 1 thermal pad supplied with each case. According to the store's website (TinyTronics.nl) it's now only compatible with the newer 3B and the 3B+ with the taller metal chip. If I program in an 18 character keyboard string into 1 button press on the remote, only 16 characters are applied with that button press. Example: I program in "thequickbrownfoxjumped" using the recommended method. Then, with textedit (on a Mac) active, I press the button on my Apple aluminum remote. Sorry for posting such basic questions. I am having issues setting up the "back" key to use on a windows PC . Using the controller set to kodi or full keyboard, when i click on the back key on flirc app then any key on remote , I cannot get it to accept me the key on the universal remote I am setting up. Key just continues to flash green. Also I have a button on the remote that if i press on it to try and set it as a key , it says "button already exists" , I can't remember which key i originally set for this button and when I select "Redo" then try again it still says "button already exists". ?

I've collected quite a few devices that use IR controls, and there are now quite a few remotes that don't simply require you know the model of the device or anything, they can simply "learn" to clone a given IR key press from another remote. However, none of the remotes have an easy way of storing the learned commands so they could be backed up to my PC in a file. I looked all over for IR transceivers that work with mobile phones or PCs, but couldn't find anything recent that was still in stock. I get that FLIRC is only a receiver, not a transceiver. We have and old, but expensive device(gas analyser) which can communicate only with IrDa. It has its own program which need a COM port to communicate. Is it possible to setup/make a "bridge" to have a COM port? Thanks in advance Imre

I have been using the functions fl_get_sensitivity() and fl_set_sensitivity(), however unfortunately both functions return "-12", which I assume is an error code! So I just bought a FLIRC with the idea of using my Logitech Harmony 665 to remote control VLC to watch videos stored on my laptop Win 10 PC connected to my TV. I'm not sure if I got a bad FLIRC unit or I just don't understand how to use it (probably the latter). Let me go through the problems I'm having so far. 1. First, a very basic one. On my GE Universal Remote I use CBL device button to control Kodi and when i do a long press on an arrow it used to speed scroll. But i doesnt work anymore. The other device button called DVD is used to control my Nvidia Shield, the long press work fine and also work with kodi. I can figure why and how to fix this. Please help ! Thanks
