  1. Basically I bought a Flirc Fire TV edition but I'm having problem setting it up because it's not recognized by the PC. I've connected the Flirc like in the image using the female port (left port) but it's not recognized, also I tried with the male (right port) port using a MicroUSB to USB C adaptor but it didn't work, still I'm pretty sure that this adaptor is only power so I'm planning to buy a MicroUSB to USB adaptor and stick with it. Before I make the purchase, which side is correct? Is mine defected? Also I'm not going to use it on the Firestick but only on the PC, does it work as normal like the Flirc 2a generation USB just by plugging it into…

  2. Here's my setup: [Various Devices (TV, Xbox, Roku, etc)] --> HDMI Switch --> Video Capture Card --> Mac The HDMI switch uses an IR remote to switch inputs. What I'd like to do is have the Mac programmatically switch inputs on the HDMI switch. I have a FlircUSB and I know I can record the button presses from the HDMI switch remote. Where I'm stuck is how do I tell the FlircUSB to transmit an IR signal?

Is Flirc planning on adding support for the Chromecast 2020? I know it would require an external hub but would be nice to have this option!

  4. I have the skip1s paired with a flirc and have been having no end of trouble., Missed presses on the Skip, phantom presses that the flirc happily runs with, etc.. It's made the slip1s+flirc unusable for me. After some amount of trial and error, I think I've traced the issue down to the TV itself. It's a plasma based one. I run the flirc app on a media pc connected to the TV and open "device log" with "Enable IR debugging" enabled. The logs shows phantom signals being received by the flirc. I'm not touching the skip at all at this point. Sometimes the interference seems to flood the flirc. If I RDP in (this allows this test), connect to the same session as…

I have had a FLIRC USB (v2) for years. Today it stopped responding for no apparent reason. I swapped in a FLIRC USB (v1) that I also have, and that is working fine. So it's not the computer's USB side of things. The machine it's plugged into is a MythTV frontend that does not install any updates, so there hasn't been a firmware update. And it stays powered on 24/7 - it hasn't been rebooted. I took the unresponsive FLIRC to my laptop to see if the FLIRC configuration utility could do anything, but it just says "disconnected". Running FLIRC_UTIL says "device disconnected, can't run command". Looking in Windows Device Manager, it doesn't show up at all as a de…

I've had a couple of the old style FLIRCs for ages that I haven't used for a while, but having just got a Channels DVR system I was pleased to discover there is a specific controller available for it. So I have updated my FLIRC software and then the firmware on my devices. 2 questions as a result. It looks like the Channels specific commands (Guide/DVR/Live/CC etc) don't work on my old Flircs, do I need the newer version to get these to function? Could a Stop button be added to the Channels Controller layout? I know there is a Channels API command for stop because that's what I'm currently using.

Hello, I'm using flirc-usb with the RPi5 running Ubuntu 22.05. Unfortunately, the latest version of Debian and Ubuntu use libreadline8, rather than libreadline6, so apparently the script to add the repository fails. I've tried running the generic Linux versions, but I get the message "-bash: /usr/bin/flirc_util: cannot execute: required file not found". I thought I had manually chased down all the repositories, but apparently not. Is this message from missing libreadline6? Seems like a flatpak or snap may be in order, if the devs can't keep current.

  8. Hey, I have a Intel NUC with a Flirc remove and the 1s remote, and I'm looking for a way to make it so a button on the remote launches my kodi app. Otherwise, I have to bust out a mouse to launch the app, then switch over to the remote. Not the end of the world, but would still be more convenient to only use the remote. Also, it'd be great if the same button was able to close the kodi app, as well. Thanks!

  9. The Flirc keeps crashing when it upgrades the firmware. The screen reads "Firmware being upgraded, please wait..." and then crashes in 3-4 seconds. It happens in both Windows and Mac. How can I fix it?

Hey community, I'm wondering if there is something new about transmitting signals from FLIRC. I don't know anything about programming or compiling and need a tool to send just a On / Off signal to my Logitech Z906 system to turn it off / on when my PC is shutting down and turned on. Is there something like that for Windows 10? Happy new year Tom

  11. i'm going a bit mad here. i have a completely working setup with a pi3, flirc usb, and tv remote that still works now. however, i recently upgraded to a pi4 - when i swap it the above setup, it no longer works. here is the crazy bit though. if i take the pi4 away from my tv, along with the remote, and plug it into my computer monitor in a different room, it works! but of course, i want to sit on my couch and use the remote, so this is not a great situation. what is going on here? i'm using the exact same equipment except swapping the tv for the monitor. both are hdmi - the tv is 4k, but the monitor 1080p. any tips on how i can debug this wo…

Hello, The option is checked in the GUI and I can't uncheck it. I've tried running Flirc GUI in Admin mode, same problem. I've tried to use 'powercfg' to disable it but I don't seem to be able to see it as a separate device in powercfg. "powercfg /devicequery wake_armed" has 3 devices listed "HID-compliant mouse (001)", "HID Keyboard Device (001)" and "Ethernet Connection". When I disable the Keyboard Device, both Flirc and my wirless keyboard cannot wake the computer, but i can't seem to choose only one or the other (there are no other choices listed). Attached is my Flirc config. Please let me know if there's any more information I ca…

Hi guys I've had both a 2015 Shield TV and a Sonos Playbar for years but I've never been able to get a remote control to both act as the remote for the Shield TV and also do the volume controls for the Sonos Playbar. In between the Shield and Sonos is a Samsung TV with it set so the TV speakers are disabled and the sound is passed through the TV to the Sonos, but because the Playbar needs an IR signal for the volume and the Shield needs a remote that wireless I just can't seem to find a one remote solution that's will manage the Shield and also do the volume on the Playbar. Any ideas how I can do it? I don't have the original Shield remote (broken) and have bee…

  15. I've been using the usb flirc for a long time, but occasionally they stop working and then work sporadically. I'm using windows, just trying to get numbers into notepad. plug the usb in, it will work for 1 maybe two keystrokes then stop working. Unplug/plug back in a bunch of times then it will work again for a few minutes. Sometimes I'll get it working, then unplug/replug and nothing. Is there a way to get them to work reliably and from boot?

  16. There is a lot of very old and somewhat conflicting info out there. Programming Flirc with a Harmony IR remote (665 in my case) to use a Shield TV Pro is super easy. Install the flirc software just to update the firmware on flirc itself. But you don't need to do anything else. In the Myharmony software, add a device and for manufacturer you select Flirc and for model, use Shield TV. And you're done! No learning necessary - it works that easily. And thanks for a great product . :)

  17. Hey, guys! I have a question that is driving me crazy. I bought a backlit universal remote control to substitute the remote control that comes with the Mi Box. It is my understanding that the Mi Box 4 doesn't have IR and its remote works via bluetooth. The remote I bought has both IR and Bluetooth. Now, it is my understanding that I can't use the learning function, as it has no Infrared remote to learn from. What happens is that once the Mi Box is powered on, my universal remote will automatically connect and work as it should, it mimics all the basic functions... but, this only happens AFTER the Mi Box is powered on, if it's not powered on, I can press all I want th…

  18. I installed a flirc in a new shield Pro. We are controlling with a savant system. I learned original shield ir codes into the flirc as we were replacing an old shield Pro that had built in IR. Randomly, the tivimate app is changing channels on us. Could be 30 seconds, could be several minutes. The IR emitter from the savant system blinks when it sends a code. I am not seeing and blink when the tivimate app channels channels. But in trying to monitor this closely to at is maybe we are seeing some random output from savant as well. I'm told it's pausing the Netflix playback as well randomly. But have not seen that hey myself. Wi…

  19. Hi there, FLIRC has a great way of doing its things (being a keyboard) and I really like that! Its unique and well done. As I am developing my own automation software I am however looking for another use of the cool FLIRC USB dongles. For that use case I would like to flash a yet to be packaged custom FLIRC firmware with much reduced functionality to get access to the IR codes. The access to the IR codes would allow me to be MUCH more flexible when performing actions in my custom automation. This is what the reduced firmware would do: - receive all supported IR codes from all supported remotes - convert any received IR code to a HID message - dire…

  20. Hello, I'm looking to control two Cox STBs at a bar using two FLIRCs on the same computer via the command line in Windows 11. The STBs will be the same model, and so I'm wondering if the FLIRC command line has an ability to send IR commands to specific USB ports, com port names, or something like that which would help me then let the customer pick which STB they want to change channels on. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

  21. I've tried using Panasonic codes on one flirc and Samsung codes on another Flirc plus a few other combos. Everything I've tried that worked for Fire TV also sent signals to the Tivo Stream 4K. What device in the harmony database will talk to one but not the other of my devices (Fire Cube and Stream 4k)

  22. Started by MrParticular,

Hello all, Sorry to be such a downer, but I just tried programming my Skip 1s for the first time and I'm really pissed to discover that this next gen remote CAN NOT LEARN! I like being able to use good, old, solid AVRs until they die in various setups throughout the home (or homes in this case thru the years). Trying to get a remote to work with a Samsung The Frame TV (2022/23) and a Sony STR-DB930 (1994-ish?) in the living room. Seems I have the same problem as a lot of other Sony sufferers... power on/off does not work, but maybe they can find a setup for volume. Every smart remote I ever purchased, from a Realistic to a Harmony to a Home Theater Master M…

Can I use 2 Flirc's? One for the FireTV and one for the PS4??

  25. Started by JayG,

So I have 4 mini pcs running kodi/libreelec and have 4 flircs and matching remotes. Three of them work fine, one didn't. After a bunch of swapping, I realized they all worked except in the that 4th room (bedroom). After killing all power to lights, fans, air purifiers, etc... I figured out it was the TV itself that was royally confusing the flirc to a range of about 7 ft. When the TV is off, I'll VNC into the kodi/libreelec/mini pc from a laptop and watch the remote and flirc work flawlessly, but as soon as the TV is on, nothing. I've tried putting the flirc in a box with a repeater and taping the box up completely with 3 layers of electrical tape to form an "I…
