Hi, I'm a new Flirc user, ultimately wanting to control my media PC with it (which is running LibreElec). As I understand it, I need to set it up first, though I have no idea what that entails just yet. I've been trying to get the software working on my desktop machine, which is running Fedora Kinoite 43. I first tried the AppImage, which runs but does not detect the plugged in Flirc. It just says "Please connect flirc" even though it's connected (and the o/s notifies me that it's connected). I then tried switching to the CLI, which I'll probably prefer longer-term anyway. I just purchased a FLIRC USB to use with my XBOX 360 media center remote to control my XBOX 360. I am using this because the XBOX 360 is located in another room from the display, which is built in to a wall in my kitchen. There is a USB port in that wall with a cable that runs through the wall to the XBOX 360. What's interesting is, my FLIRC works great when I plug it directly into the XBOX 360, but won't work when there is a USB extenstion cable in between. I have tried using multiple cables, using multiple XBOX 360s, and even using a powered USB hub. With all of these, a regular USB wired keyboard works fine, but my new FLIRC USB does not work. I have a medium tower case HTPC setup and some issues with Flirc signal. The only way I can get constistently reliable signal from my remote into Flirc receiver is when I plug Flirc DIRECTLY to one of the USB ports on the back of the case, i.e. the mobo ports. When I use an USB extension cord, or plug Flirc into one of the front (case) USB ports, the receiver sensitivity is on an off (have to press a remote button 4x for the PC to register an input). It's like Flirc hates any sort of USB signal extension. Any ideas? Many thanks!

The download page says that v3.27.16 is 64-bit, but when I run the installer, it wants to install into "C:\Program Files (x86)" which is for 32-bit programs. What gives?

Using the latest version of software/firmware (3.27.15), I am having a problem with long press - the paired key is always executed at least twice (even with keyboard repeat delay set to longest & repeat rate set to slowest in OS to prevent accidental repeats). I tried reverting back to my previous version of software/firmware (3.27.3), but I get an error (disconnected, unsupported fw v:4.10). How can I at least get back to the old version?

I'm in the process of setting up a Raspberry Pi with Kodi. I'm trying to figure out what to use as a remote. I actually have one of those mini keyboards, which works well, but it's a pain to keep it on my side table. Would it be possible to get a Flirc USB, plug it into my Pi, program it for my Roku remote, and then use my Roku remote to control both my Roku and my Pi/Kodi? I'm fairly certain I can use the remote on the RPi (but would like confirmation), but if I set it up for the RPi, could I still also use it for my Roku? If so, how would it know which device to send the codes to? (Could it perhaps tell which one is communicating with the TV?)

Hi, Running FW 3.27.16 does no longer record keypress. "Button alreday exists", is always the message. No matter if I assign new keys, or assign the same shortcut to a 2nd button of my remote control. Additionally I face the ssame problem as already reported, I cannot update the tool.. (Windows 11) WHY is the SOFTWARE not tested before release ??? So if an update is not possible, this means that my flirc-sticks are useless just because a buggy firmware has been released ??? Hi, I am used to my Logitech Harmony. And I was so glad I could find Flirc FireTV which works just with plugging in (I even had not to program it, as I am missing a USB -> MicroUSB adapter right now I was glad that I had not to program it. ;-) ). What a great product, thank you! I configured Flirc as "firetv" on my Harmony One, assigned some keys, works. I have also installed Kodi on the FireTV stick, I can navigate and control, but I am missing the Keypad which I know from Kodi to work e.g. for skipping to a specific Time in an movie. I'm desperate. I bought the FLIRC V2 for my new Android TV box, which I received from my network operator. Now I'm desperately searching for key codes so that I can program them with Flirc_util and Record_api. I read the key codes with the Button Mapper. They are: ALL_APPS, 284 INFO, 165 Can anyone help me with the corresponding HEX codes?

Windows 10 and Flirc 3.27.16 seems to have an update issue: on starting the application and plugging in the USB device, it asks me to update from factory installed 4.9.6 to 4.10.5 i says then "Firmware upgraded successfully" but on next application startup it does the same. This is probably (hopefully) a very basic problem, but I cannot get my new FLIRC USB (Firmware v. 4.10.3) to do the most basic thing. I'm running Windows 11. The GUI loads and sees the USB dongle. It shows as "connected." When I chose a button or a key combination on the GUI, it says "press the button to be paired with '[key]'" When I press a button on my IR remote, the GUI sees it and says "Recorded successfully." Now what? When I hit the button the remote, nothing happens. The computer isn't seeing anything. What am I missing?

For my own purposes I needed to create a tool, which acts like the Flirc-CLI-Tool "irtools.exe listen" using the Flirc-SDK from https://github.com/flirc/sdk The SDK states, that the flirc.tv-Downloads are all based on this SDK - So I expect to achieve the same results … … but here is my question: The SDK-DLL "libflirc.dll" always returns 7 bytes, while "irtools.exe listen" returns all bytes (see: https://github.com/flirc/sdk/issues/21 ) Are the flirc.tv-Downloads really based on this SDK? Hi all. I've been using Flirc USB for many years. First it was attached to my PC and bound to Windows media keys while I could use IR learning of with my other devices. All worked flawlessly, I could use 4 devices (TV, BR, PC, audio) with 1 standard remote. That was the utopia era. Things changed, now I got 4 remotes for what used to be 1. My biggest issue right now is that I cannot control the volume of my miniDSP SHD by any other remote than its own. It no longer has the IR learning function. I cannot access it's ssh console and there are no free USB ports so that I cannot plug the receiver there. However, it's got Volumio 3 and there is a REST API that I can call.…

Hi, I’ve spent the better part of this Sunday on trying to get my new Flirc usb2 to work. At first I thought it was the GUI that was acting up and not saving or losing my stored keys, so I switched to the command line utility. It’s a good thing I saved the config each time because the device seems to suffer from dementia. Plugging it in in another USB port, a reboot, or simply watching a movie for half an hour is sufficient for the device to stop responding and when I look in the settings, all keys are missing. It doesn’t make sense because you’re supposed to be able to program the Flirc itself and take it to another PC. Mine can’t even work consistently on the same …

Hello All, I got my first flirc (first two) in the mail today. The first one is for my HTPC (Windoze 7 Pro SP1). I'm running NextPVR and didn't have a working IR input for my Hauppauge 45 button remote. It was no problem to set up, the software works well (although a little time consuming). It seems that all the remote keys are working as I programmed them, to replicate the keystrokes used by NPVR. The trouble is it's only passing every-other remote command through to NPVR. I have to hit every remote button twice to get the response of one from the software. At first I thought I was pressing the remote buttons to fast, but I tried waiting over 10 seconds between…

Hi, I don't know how this will sound but here goes: so got a mini PC accessible in two locations via a USB HDMI KVM that essentially enables me to remote into the machine like as one would using Anydesk or Teamviewer only that this is on a hardware basis. So, in one location I access the PC directly and in another via the said device complete with a monior, keyboard and mouse. I believe you already are familiar with this. What I now want to do is to be able to access the flirc in the second location using my remote since one needs to be within range of the flirc device. Is this possible? How would I go about it if so? Hope all this makes sense.

Hi ! I've been using the Flirc GUI v.3.27.16 and I'd like to change the duration of a keypress. Is that possible ? Example : I've paired a button with the "A" key. And when I press the button only a single A appears in a text editor. But trying some games with it, the key press duration is too long and triggers 2 in game a presses. Anyway to change that in a config or something ? Thanks

I just got the flirc usb v2 dongle in and I am trying to get it to communicate with my Apple Remote (aluminum) (its the IR remove version no siri) I am managing to get most of the buttons to work but not the menu button which is used to go back to home or back a step in the menu when using Plex (escape key on keyboard). There is no profile for this remote. Does anyone have a profile that I can download to make this work, or how do I the home/menu key to work properly. If I teach the button it somehow does not work. I am using a Global Cache iTach IP2IR with the FLIRC on an Nvidia Shield PRO 2019. I can record from the remote with no problems. However commands are executing twice. Global Cache has their own library of IR Codes. Would this have anything to do with it? Is there a work around?

I'm looking to buy a mini PC that has a motherboard with wake (from hibernate) on USB capability that works with the Flirc USB. I have a Flirc USB in my desktop PC and waking from hibernate with my IR remote works fine. For the bedroom I'd like a mini PC that can also wake from an IR remote so I would buy a second Flirc USB for the bedroom. I'm replacing a raspberry pi 3 which is becoming too slow for modern versions of kodi. A raspberry pi 5 would do the job but a mini PC running linux or windows isn't much more expensive and is more flexible. Which mini PC can wake from hibernation with a Flirc USB? PS. Not seeing it elsewhere, so... I just ordered a FLIRC USB dongle from Amazon. I have a Verizon Stream TV box, I think it's basically a re-badged Chromecast. SKU is ASK-STI6220. It uses the Amlogic S905X4. I also have a Harmony 650 IR remote I'm expecting the FLIRC to do what's advertised but I wanted to ask if anyone has experience of my use case, and can share any gotchas, advice etc. DM

I have been using Flirc USB devices for some time. When I started, I moved from an old Netgear streamer to Kodi so I programmed Flirc to use the old Netgear codes. Recently I have been trying to migrate to something more future proof and have got myself all messed up. I picked Xbox and have programmed my universal remotes to use Xbox codes and programmed the flirc accordingly. Most of my operations work but sometimes I get stuck needing to input codes 2/3 times for them to register in Kodi properly and I am not sure what is going on. Often times trying to turn on Subtitles causes this but sometimes even play/pause can. I don't have any huge desire to get at the …

hi there, i've got a FLIRC 2nd Gen. on my linux-desktop (debian12) i've downloaded the latest tar.gz (Flirc-3.27.16). starting sudo ./Flirc i managed to assign the keys. from the "controllers" menu i choose full keyboard, because i need the F-keys for the VDR (MLD) testing the keys with 3 different linux distros (MLD, debain 10+12) the result is always the same: every second key press does nothing. i think the time between the keys presses was nearly 1 second. the first test i made was a Technisat remote, then i use another remote from the DVB-S-Card of my working VDR. but the result is the same the Flirc-GUI says Firmware v4.10.5 is this …
