  1. Hi There, just set up my flirc with my Apple Tv remote (silver) running on raspberry pi xbmc openelec. Is there a way to press and hold the up and down button so scrolling can be faster instead of pressing it all the time? Thanks

  2. Started by Dubwize,

Just wanted to say, this was an amazingly easy setup. quick binding of the keys on the ATV2 remote, bound the menu key to back (esc) and then did a little searching to find that play/pause should be bound to space bar (use full keyboard mode in flirc) to make it work correctly. Works perfectly. thank you for this great piece of tech. :) the only thing I would like to see is some ability to start a file with the play button. Currently you need to use the enter key to start the song/video. then you can use the play/pause button to well play and or pause.

The remote that came with the SageTV HD100 does not work properly. I've got over 10 distinct hashes for a single key and counting.

  5. Hi, I managed to setup my new FLIRC with the official Harmony-profile yesterday and was very happy how smoothly it works. However, I noticed a serious issue: Everytime I use FLIRC my Xoro HRK 8750 Cable-Receiver stops listening to the "Power on"-signal. I have to start it with the physical button, after that IR works fine. Jason, I know that this is probably an issue with the Xoro box. But since no other remote I tested causes this error, my question is if you could have a look at this and maybe use alternative IR-signals for the Harmony profile or let me know how to fix this by myself? Regards, Dan

Obviously FLIRC makes it easy to be flexable with an IR remote control. Its a great solution. But many computers also need an IR emitter (aka transmitter, aka BLASTER) to work at controlling cable boxes and other items on your computer and HDTV system. What are the best suggestions for an IR blaster?

  7. Started by offroad,

Just want to mention after some research am finding the RCRP05BR remote by RCA as the least expensive full function remote. It is a learning remote and it can be used to with a cable to be programmed (forget those cables names, but they are a standard). Can be found at all Walmarts for $15 or if you order via Amazon less than $10. have not used it with my FLIRC but expect no issues. Everything else is so much more expensive.

  8. Hello, I have a newer dishnetwork Hopper Remote it says 40.0 UHF 2g - 186217 on the back and I cannot seem to be able to get this to work. The very best I have got was the ability to move up, down, and to the right. I set me remote to Aux and have gone through all the programming options. From the basic one to the XBMC and Windows media center. and no luck. Does anyone have any tricks or ideas to get this working? Thanks, Jason

  9. I was having a hard time getting the AUX mode on this remote to utilize all available buttons. In other words, DVD player codes do not use the Menu/Guide/Last functions, and DVR codes do not use Play/Pause/Stop functions. The code 01877 is undocumented and unlocks all functions without interfering with the cable box. I assume its a code for an older cable box that is no longer used. Now I can assign every single button to a key. EDIT: The above code produced some strange behavior and was not reliable. After more experimenting with codes found here, 00869 produces good results. The only downsides are that a couple non-essential buttons are not implemented (Page+/-, B,…

  10. I just purchased a Flirc for my newly installed NUC with OpenElec installed on it. I got everything almost working on the remote. I followed the Beta steps here: http: The issue I have is, my old setup on my atv2 was the 'Menu' button on my Harmony 550 would be the 'Back' button. This sounded easy enough to fix, I went into the Harmony application and assigned the 'Menu' button to be the 'Back' button (It wasn't assigned as anything). Updated the remote, but the only way I can get this newly assigned button to work is by going into my harmony remote by pushing the 'Devices' button and selecting the 'Media Center'. It doesn't work by default, so I need to click in …

Hey Guys, Just got Flirc and its great fun. Programmed it up easily using Manufacturer: Samsung Device: LN46C650L1F All buttons programmed using the XBMC Controller. The only button is Power. When I press the power button on the remote my TV/AMP and everything turns off but not XBMC. I am using OpenELEC. How do I program the power button? I tried using the power button on the XBMC controller and then pressing the power button on the remote activity but it doesnt work.

  13. I went ahead and set it up using the MyHarmony web interface, and it's ready to go. I only need help with a couple of things. First, how I can program the power button to shut down my TV when under a different device on the remote? I figured out how to control the TV's volume though the web interface, but not the power button. And another thing, the home button, is it possible to somehow program this in to the remote? I know the button is available in the Flirc GUI, but that would mean having to reset the remote in order to make it work right? I would find it useful for the menu button to link home.

I've received my flirc stick and very happy with it but i have one question about it. I want to use the contect menu (keyboard c) on my apple remote by holding the "menu" or "enter" button on my apple remote, is there a solution for it to make this work? I've used all of the buttons on my apple remote but want to add 1 more option to my apple remote by adding the context menu (keyboard c) to a button by holding it just like the apple remote in combination with the apple tv 2.

  16. Hi, I received my flic dongle usb yesterday. I installed flirc application on my computer (win 7 64bits). The dongle usb is detected as connected but when i want to pair button with my remote, it doesn't detect any button press on my remote. My remote is a philips SRP5004/86 (I tried with mode TV : sony, samsung, panasonic). I tried other remotes (my LG TV remote, Samsung dvd player remote, ...), other USB port, other computer (win 7 64bits) but there is the same issue. Is there a bug ? Is there any solutions ?

Flirc constantly connects/disconnects during setup Flirc states "no more space for new buttons" - after clearing configuration Flirc states "button already exists" -after clearing configuration Flirc GUI randomly crashes during programing Flirc GUI won't recognize remote control(s) during programing Take your pick for where the problems start/stop. I was so excited to get the hardware to complete my XBMC experience on an HTPC and RPi. After 2 hours of frustration I want to "office space" the 2 flircs I waited over a week to receive. I have tried running multiple combinations of firmware v1 and v256 (latest beta) and gui version 0.9.6 and 1.0.0-beta. I eve…

  20. Started by purpleman,

Hello everyone. Can anyone recommend a universal remote control that works FAST with flirc? I'm currently using a harmony 300 remote which, of course, works perfectly, but there is a slight delay between key presses (even if the inter-key delay and inter-device delay are set to 0). This means that if I'm browsing a list on xbmc and want to go down 3 entries, I press 3 times on the down-arrow key, but the keys are registered slower than the speed I clicked on the remote (like they're queuing and being processed one at a time with a 100ms delay in between). Is there any remote that will give me the same effect as a wireless keyboard (pressing 3 times the down …

  21. I just received my flirc today and I am truly impressed! This little bugger does almost exactly what I wanted it to do (I explain the almost below). Congratulations on such an amazing product, Jason. Definitely money well spent. So my setup is that I am using the SlingPlayer desktop application and wanted to pair an old DirecTV remote (RC64) with it so I don't have to be at my computer to control it. I got all the buttons mapped to SlingPlayer keyboard shortcuts via the flirc GUI except for the Volume Up/Down, Mute, and TV Input (I was using this button to control a different part of the application) buttons. I ran the Flirc Utilities application to see what was hap…

Hi guys, forgive me if this is in the wrong place, I am somewhat of a n00b First off, I love the flirc. Great work. It works really well with my XBMC on Raspberry Pi (openelec). I am using my Fetch TV (internet tv in Australia) remote, this is somewhat a universal remote, with a TV and DVD button to use with an existing system. I think the remote is great, so I don't want to get another universal to replace it. But the problem I am having is, when I enter a DVD remote code into this remote. Depending on the brand of dvd, it will not send a signal if the button does not get used. I want to use the unused buttons (back, numbers etc are not needed for dvd players) D…

  24. Started by dihu,

Hi, I like to use an alphanumeric remote control (shipped with an old Archos 605) with Flirc but run into problems with keys like shift or alt. Flirc assumes that, for instance, CTRL-SHIFT-A is a single keystroke on the remote but this remote has separate keys for CTRL, SHIFT, ALT-L, ALT-R. In contrast to a standard keyboard pushing one of these keys sends a signal by its one. So CTRL-SHIFT-A becomes a sequence (!) of three keystrokes rather than a single one. In order to process this sequence correctly, Flirc would have to store the keystrokes of these buttons internally to change the coding of the next "regular" keystroke (i.e. the "A"). Is that possible?

Hi! Just got Flirc. Everything is ok but i can not bind volume up/down for OSX. On Full Keyboard mode "Fn" button works as "Insert" and so I can not make "F11"/"F12" + "Fn" function as volume control. Please help with this issue.
