Remote Controls

I have a couple buttons (on my original Xbox dvd remote) that just won't take a programmed function. For example. The pause button works as the keyboard's "space" key. (confirmed with notepad) Since pressing play also pauses the media (and plays it again) I'd like to use the pause button for something else (namely "O" for on screen info in xbmc) but it just won't take it. Even though the flirc GUI says the button was successfully programmed, when I exit and go try it out, the pause button is still stuck as the "spacebar" key on a keyboard. i've been trying to get the new xbox 360 (rc6) remote to work with filrc and xbmc on a windows7 pc. initially i had the 'double key press' problem which i managed to work out myself before finding it on the forums, i correctly guessed it was that the remote was giving out slightly different codes on each key press but to me it wasn't immediately obvious that you could program multiple remote buttons to a single keyboard key. the xbox remote can be programmed to control the tv too however the volume +/- keys seem to give the same code when the remote is in tv mode or xbox mode so when i hit volume up both xbmc and the tv responded to the key press and i ended up with…

Just got my flirc and have to admit setup was a breeze. Im setting up some media boxes for friends and inlaws and went from an appletv with xbmc pre-eden to a dedicated box to support 1080p with other codecs besides x264. They are not very techinical...and have trouble using any remotes with a bunch of keys so i figure the appleremote would be best for them. Only thing missing is the long presses and possibly volume control. reading the xbmc forums, i heard this was in the works and was not difficult to do according to jason. Is there a beta firmware out for this functionality yet?? As a suggestion.. it would be nice to have preconfigured popular remotes such as …
