Hi everybody, I'm trying to setup Flirc on my Raspberry Pi using ArchLinux (RuneAudio) but I'm not familiar with ArchLinux and instructions are only for debian based system. I already tried a couple of things and searched on Google with no success. Can anyone help me to setup Flirc on ArchLinux? Thanks in advance.

Hi! I'm using flirc with my harmony hub and everything (Kodi, etc.) runs perfectly fine. There is only one thing that I can't get to work. I'm able to put my computer into hibernate via my remote but I can't wake it back up. The integrated wake function only works if I put the computer into sleep mode. Now I can wake it from hibernate with a button press on my keyboard and as far as I understand it the computer sees the flirc as a keyboard too right ? So why, if I send a simulated button press via the remote, won't the computer wake up again ? My keyboard is connected via usb to so that shouldn't be the issue.

Is there a way to map just the Windows Logo key by itself? I don't want to use it as a modifier, but just a keypress by itself (to pull up the Windows 8 Start screen.) Thanks

I got windows7, fedora22 and rasberry/rasbpian and FLIRC dongle. No matter what I do, it does not do the job. May be it is just broken. The problem is FLIRC seems to buffer keys so when (for example) I press "up", it does nothing at all, then I press "up" again and the cursor jumps twice, "up" again - nothing, "up" again - jumps twice. The remote is "Harmony 350", works fine with TV and receiver, I chose "windows media player/kodi" on it and then taught FLIRC using its software on Windows. Any idea how to disable this buffering? The FLIRC firmware is the latest. Linux tool does not want to work with it - "/usr/bin/Flirc" says unsupported firmware. /flirc_util…

I had an hp EHome remote receiver that I was using with Windows 8 and Windows 10. But I could not make it work with Windows 2012 R2, after reading about flirc which said it works with all OS, I purchased it but I still cannot make it work with Windows 2012 R2. I have a software which is Windows media player compatible and any media player remote works with it. But I need drivers for it. I configured the remote as media player comparable, but in device manager it's asking for driver with yellow make on it. Can you please help?

I have a new 700. Trying to get it to work with a Odroid C1+ box running OpenElec version of Kodi. I also have a Flirc USB reciever if I need to use that to have 700 communicate with the media box. How do I setup? Tried "Flirc Media Player" in Harmony setup already but doesn't work. Also, Flirc would not accept programming from 700 when I used Flirc interface and Kodi profile. Thanks in advance for your assistance!

Hi Everyone, I am sorry if this was answered somewhere else but I tried very hard to search before posting. I have a Harmony One and new Fire TV. I setup my Flirc using the Harmony software, adding the Flirc as a media center PC and the device name XBMC. I have everything set up working, but for some reason, only the return button acts strange. The signal it sends is correct but it sends it SO fast that sometimes it does not respond correctly (mostly in a double press way). I can see the difference in how it acts with the Fire TV because the white LED on front lights with every button press - It will come on for a half second then turn off. But when I press the…

I saw there was now a Kodi profile for the Harmony remote so I have followed the instructions on the Flirc website and uploaded it to my remote. All the button controls appear OK . However when I put the Flirc into the USB port on my Media PC I have no control of Kodi with it. Nothing will work. Should I do something with the Flirc first? If so what and how? Thanks

This is probably unsupported in any way by Jason so please don't report bugs in other threads when using this solution. If you have any problems with this setup it is better to post them here and I'll try to help if I have time to do so. Hi, This how-to is for users who want to build more advanced control schemes using their Flirc devices. It is mainly directed to Windows users because there is no way in Windows to capture input from a single keyboard, but can be done in Linux. But it should be also applicable in other OS-es when used with correct software. The problem is that not everything can be done just by defining a single key combinations. There are app…

Hi, this is my first attempt to program my brand new FLIRC. My plan is to set up a HTPC with the easiest possible remote control. I need this for an elder person. I have updated the FLIRC to Firmware v3.0 Running on Win 8.1./64 I bought a SEKI Medium IR-control http://www.amazon.co.uk/Medium-Universal-Remote-Learning-Capability-black/dp/B0059G9WHM I am using the full keyboard for programming purposes: I select CONTROL and + KEY in order to program the "+" button on the IR. Result: when I test it, the CONTROL and @ KEY is blinking at the FLIRC keyboard screen For other combinations, it says "Recorded successfully" but nothing happens. The key combi…

This may be repeated information, but here is how I got my old Harmony One working with my new FireTV. This required no command line configuration, and no copying anything to the FireTV. It seems like the new Flirc firmware addressed many of these things, so most of the help I was looking for in setting it up were out of date. I got the FireTV mainly to use Kodi, so my setup was centered on that use case. I had no idea that you could use the Flirc Windows GUI to set up multiple, co-existing profiles on the Flirc - I read that here on these forums, and it made setup easier for me. I have the latest firmware loaded into the Flirc, the latest update to the Fire…

Hi there, I just bought this Flirc Streacom Edition which also has the ability to trigger the power switch on the motherboard. But it won't either turn on or turn off the motherboard even there is 5V from the motherboard to the Flirc unit in S5 state. I'm using a Harmony One remote control which is coded as "Media Center PC / KODI". When I'm pushing the front panel on/off button the computer turns on/off but pressing the "Pwr Off" button on the Harmony has no effect, although it still sends out a IR-code. Any tips, anyone? tommy-70

Using FLIRC to control my new Macbook Pro retina with old white Apple remote. Using FLIRC I am able to start/stop movie in Quicktime Player, start presentations and advance forward and back in Keynote, and I can increase and decrease the volume system-wide. This setting also allows you to go forward and back in PowerPoint, but the play button doesn't start the slide show. It was a bit trying to get it to work because the f10 &f11 cannot be assigned to control the volume, so this should save you some frustration. 1) Plug in FLIRC 2) Dismiss/ignore any prompt that tells you about an unrecognizable keyboard 3) Open FLIRC app 4) It should default showing the minimalist co…

There are a number of situations where you may want to configure/control flirc from the command line rather than the GUI. For example, XBMCbuntu is made to boot directly to XBMC without ever displaying a desktop environment. You may also like to be able to modify your flirc configuration via ssh without interrupting an XBMC session. In this tutorial I'll cover some basic steps for getting started with flirc from a command line. INSTALLATION First, we'll install the flirc software. To do this, you need to add flirc to your apt-get sources. You can do this with any text editor. Easiest is probably nano: sudo nano /etc/apt/sources.list Scroll all the way to t…

I am trying to use a URC-900 remote to control my laptop when running JRiver MC20. I read on the support page the hints on using a URC remote. I loaded sony commands into my URC. I then went to the gui. I have the choices under 'controllers' of minimalist, full keyboard, etc. The best choice seems to be 'media keys'. So I matched the sony commands to the 'media keys' and then tried to control MC20. It responded, but didn't work correctly. If I hit the 'next' > key on my remote it skips to the next song, BUT THEN EVERY FEW SECONDS IT WILL SKIP TO THE NEXT SONG without hitting any remote keys. Its as if it were receiving ir commands on its own. I moved the remote out…

I am new at this, but I recently acquired a Fire TV, and I have been using 1 remote with all of my media gear, the Harmony 700. Since the Fire TV remote is bluetooth, I acquired a Flirc. The latest Flirc software has a built in protocol for Fire TV, and it was easy to program the Flirc. The Harmony 700 had corresponding keys for every key but the Home key. Not wanting to go into an involved procedure to create the Home key code, I decided to try some of the remotes I have lying around. I finally found 1 remote that had a Home key that worked with the Fire TV (via the Flirc). The remote is a Sony RMT-B107A remote for a Sony model BDP-S570/BX57 Blu-ray Disc player. I used…

Hi: I discovered this amazing product about a month ago. The best thing I like about the Flirc is that the HTPC is programmed to the remote's output, and not vice-versa like "universal remotes" are set up. This means that the smarts are where they belong - in the PC. I thought I would share the hurdles I had in setting up a unit the way I wanted it to run, and how I got around them. A couple words of warning - this is a little DIY. I CAN IN NO WAY BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE RESULTS OR OUTCOME OF THIS PROJECT. If you proceed to follow these directions - you do so at your own risk, My system is custom built like most enthusiasts. It is nothing special except th…

Greetings: I would like to use a FLIRC as a input to a program that I have written on a Raspberry PI running raspbian. I can see the device in DMESG but can not seem to find it in the /dev file system. There is no output relating to FLIRC with lsusb. Has anyone used a FLIRC with a Raspberry Pi NOT using XBMC or the like? Any help would be great! Thanks, schenkl

Hello, I have a Logitech Harmony 350 with a single "Activity" button that allow to power on various devices. I would like to have that button wake or put the pc to sleep (in addition to the tv and amp). I tried to add a fake TV as a device to control the PC and then I configured the buttons via the Flirc GUI. All work nice, I can assign play, stop, volume, etc. But for the "wake" media key, I've got trouble: - If I assign the "power" button of my remote to the "wake" media key, I have to press on it two times to put the pc to sleep and two times to put it at wake. Strange! - If I assign anoter button to this media key, it works with a single pr…

Hi, I installed the Flirc software on my Zotac CI320 running WIndows 7 prof 64, did a firmware update and recorded a couple things (Full Keyboard keys) from my old TV remote to use it with plex. It says "Recorded successfully" but when I try the keys in Notepad, nothing happens. (Like buttons 1-9) Am I missing something? THanks in advance.
