hello all i have now bought a flirc device and i want to use it to control kodi on my desktop. i choose kodi controller on flirc and configure it so i can use my tv remote to control kodi. all works fine but i only want to use flirc when kodi is ON because if im using the desktop computer and others are using the tv remote to watch regular tv, they will interfere with my desktop and i only want to flirc to responde when im using kodi on the desktop. since flirc has multiple controllers i thought that if i choose kodi controler only kodi will responde, but no, its always ON. is there any way i can do this? thanks in advance

Hi, just got my Flirc today to use on a HTPC, and while I've got it all programmed and working when the Flirc program is open, the moment I close it the shortcuts I've programmed for Flirc stop working. Am I missing a step, or is there something wrong?

Hey there. I have a Flirc (metal one) and i'm trying to do some automation. I'm trying do send IR signal to my TV box using the Flirc connected to a Raspberry. So I just bought a new Flirc Streacom Edition from Overclockers UK for my Streacom FC5 Evo case. AFAIK it is installed correctly, there is a constant blue light emitted from it when pc is powered on. I am running W7 64bit. However the flirc GUI says "Disconnected" & under Device Manager flirc is listed under Other Devices & has the yellow warning traingle beside it. This would suggest to me that the driver has not been installed correctly. I have tried uninstalling, deleting flirc folder & then reinstalling the flirc software a few times but no joy. *UPDATE* Final key mappings I found below I'm got my Flirc working with Android TV. A USB keyboard works just fine with a microUSB adapter. Here's the key mapping I found up = up down = down left = left right = right play/pause = enter back = backspace/esc search = Super (Windows) - could not map home = alt+esc (doesn't close apps*) I got everything working except for search and home. Search isn't really needed because it only accepts voice search by default so it looks for a bluetooth mic to activate which I don't have. No home button is killing me though. I can't exit some apps (XBMC) and can't easily jump between apps. Is there a way to manually map a remote …

I've used the same universal IR remote for years, and continue to use it with my 2017 Nvidia Shield TV via Flirc. The remote does not have a microphone, but it is still possible to use voice search. Mic: All Nvidia remotes and game controllers have microphones. I use a PlayStation 3 Eye USB webcam. It is available for $8 new at Amazon; I bought mine for $2 used from GameStop. Be aware of how Shield prefers Nvidia microphones. Remote: Android keycode 84, KEYCODE_SEARCH, triggers Shield's voice search. I have several RPi devices on several TV's around my home. Two of those RPi devices are connected to TV's with CEC enabled HDMI ports and I have the ports configured to stop play when the TV is powered off. Three of the TV's do not have CEC enabled HDMI ports and I use a USB flirc on those devices. The issue is that if someone is watching a show or movie, etc... and turns off the TV, then whatever they're watching just continues to play. I've told them several times that they need to press the stop button on the remote, stop the stream, then turn off the TV, but they can't seem to comprehend that and just hits the power button. Hello all I am having a problem with a Windows XP Home Service Pack 3 fresh install. I updated all the drivers and windows updates before I installed the Flirc software. I am receiving a dwmapi.dll error when I launch the Flirc software it does this if I have the Flirc unit in or out of the machine. It is an older Toshiba laptop that I want to use Windows Media Player for a music machine on my outdoor system. Can anyone point me in the right direction. I would search for older versions of the software but cannot find where do to this on the website.

Hi i'm having some problems with my oneforall remote (essence 4) and this set of hardware. Everything is pretty fine, but when i'm controlling Samsung TV the remote operates also on source hdmi1 which is Kodi on RPi4. Cec-Anynet is disabled in the TV menu and in the Kodi options, but i still get this issue. How can i fix it? thank you for helping me out Filippo

Just done a fresh install of Ubuntu 18.04 ( corrupt SSD drive). Tried to install flirc from the download section. Extracted files Flirc and Flirc_util. Not sure what to do with them. The info at the end of the download section for Linux indicates some dependencies and putting the above files in usr/local/bin maybe. Needed Dependencies: libhidapi-hidraw0 libqt5core5a libqt5network5 libqt5xml5 libqt5xmlpatterns5 libhid qt5-qtbase qt5-qtsvg hidapi cp the 99-flirc.rules rules to /etc/udev/rules.d/ optionally copy flirc_util and flirc to /usr/local/bin/ Not sure what this means, can you explain in more detail please

Hi, I need to have the power button on a universal remote to "wake up/power on" and to "sleep/power off" my PC. This is simplistic and intuitive to humanity, it should be a primary reason for flirc to exist. Now I don't have an harmony remote, just like a lot of others. Should it matter, no. I assigned and tried the power buttons from all controllers to 5 different remotes, most will power off/sleep but none will power on. It is not because of my Windows settings or BIOS settings, my keyboard and mouse wakes up the PC just fine...that's 17 years of IT support specialist speaking. Such script that could navigate trough settings menus and set values to brightness, contrast ect... I have decent understanding of python but what I do not understand is what commands to send and how trough RS-232. I chose RS-232 over IR since from IR you cannot get feedback to the script and for the script to work it would need to know the starting value of lets say brightness. I need to make the remote control the kodi box in as fully featured a way as possible, including powering the machine on if it isnt already, launching kodi via a remote button (the machine has remote clients and also wakes itself to record tv shows when necessary, so may already be on), standard tv controls within kodi and the ability to exit kodi (NOT shutdown the machine). Hello all. I had a peculiar issue where my Flirc was receiving a continuous button press. It was like somebody was holding down the up button on my remote. I believe the culprit was my phone's proximity sensor, which is IR based technology. I started testing things in the usual way. I cleared my configuration, switched ports, reinstalled, made sure my firmware was upgraded.. but nothing was working. The only thing that could stop the button input was when I covered the device with my hand. I can add to logitech harmony without any problem the device hptc brand flirc and type kodi, this works but it does not have alk keyboard commands which i can map in harmony software, only specific kodi commands.
