Hi, I really would like to buy Flirc IR receiver, but I need to understand if these two things are possible: 1) can I specify an IR Code to wake up the PC from suspend mode, and (important) waking up only with that specific IR code, becouse I don't want to alsways wake up the pc if i'm using a remote for controlling another TV for example (actually I'm using the Hauppauge IR blaster but the wake up IR code seems to be embedded inside and not changeble at all) 2) I would like to finally use the apple remote: is "long press" supported? can I use the "menu" button for wake up the PC and (once waked up) use the same "menu" button for something else like coming back to Windo…

Here is how i got my Harmony Smart Control and Flirc to suspend and wake up my HTPC Linux Mint box. Note: make sure you are connecting your Flirc to a consistently powered USB even if the PC is powered off, to choose one; power off your pc and connect your mobile on the desired USB port and make sure your mobile is charging with the box turned off. 1- Download Flirc latest Linux GUI from here (i used the zipped x64 version). 2- Add the file 51-flirc.rules to /etc/udev/rules.d/ (download the file from here), this udev rule insures that the GUI can connect to Flirc without root permissions. 3- Unplug then Plug your Flirc or restart your box for changes to take eff…

Hi Guys, I'm currently using a generic TV remote (maybe upgrade to harmony in future), but I'm having difficulty setting it up with flirc+WMC+XBMC. Flirc assigns a functions per remote key, but I'd like to use the same key and its function under both XBMC and WMC. For example how would I map the same info remote key to provide video info in both XBMC and WMC? Cheers, razz

I'm considering buying a Flirc, to use on my RPi along with my Tellstick to control my lights. Controlling the light is done my sending commands like "telldusd 1 on", etc. Can I program Flirc so that a key on my remote issues that command on the RPi? Or, will it just cause problems that I'm not really logged in to the RPi?

Hi all, I was able to program my FLIRC dongle on my office PC pretty easily but I'm experiencing a show-stopper problem on my HTPC. My HTPC is running Win7/64. I loaded the FLIRC software download from your site before connecting the dongle but I get "No Driver Found" for both Universal Serial Bus (USB) controller and SM Bus Controller. And while the software itself installs OK, I can't do anything with it. I've been at this all weekend with no luck. Any idea what I can try? I've quite literally got 30+ hours into this thing and I'm no further than I was in hour one.

Hi all, I have just ordered my Flirc and I'm waiting for it to arrive. In the mean time I want to get my Harmony One programmed and ready to go. I've read through the forum and from what I've understood Flirc works quite easily with XBMC and when I went to myharmony.com and added the Flirc and typed XBMC as the model and it seemed to work great with a full key mapping. I tried the same with Plex but it didn't seem to work in fact when I checked the mapping there were no commands assigned to any of the buttons. I know Plex is an offshoot of XBMC so a lot of the XBMC key mapping should work but it is slightly different. Is there a specific Plex profile for the H…

Hey Guys, So I have - OpenELEC 4.0 + Logitech Harmony Ultimate One + Flirc What would be the best way to setup Flirc for controlling OpenELEC? And are there any extra and special things for the harmony setup to use/do?

How does one go about making just one button sleep and way the unit in openelec? I have the wake button programmed to the power button on the remote, but I am now unable to assign it to sleep the box. I really don't like the idea of having to have a separate wake and sleep key. The Flirc GUI won't allow me to assign two keys to the same button press. Is the wake signal passed into the OS as a button press? If so I could do a custom keymap for it, but I have no idea at this point if it is or what the signal sent is. I assume that I have to do this in openelec somehow? I just received my Flirc on my 64-bit Ubuntu 13.10 machine. Since the repositories are down, I did a manual download. I can run the GUI but it gives the disconnected sign. lsusb Bus 004 Device 005: ID 20a0:0001 Clay Logic I suspect I need to add a line to my udev rules but have no idea what I should add or how to do it. Hi, since the last update (Windows-GUI says firmware is 2.6) keypresses are not repeated anymore when keep pushing a remote button. So i.e. when I press the Up key on my remote I get exactly one Up-command. When I keep pushing the button there is still only one Up-command. After button release and pushing again another command is created. Has anything been changed? Am I missing something? Regards knilch

Hi Everyone, i can't seem to get Sleep/Wake feature to run on my HTPC using Flirc and Harmony Smart Control, i have XBMC installed on Linux Mint 16. here is the steps i followed: 1- i have updated Flirc's firmware to 2.3 which is the latest version. 2- added the Flirc XBMC profile on the Harmony Smart Control. 3- started my HTPC and XBMC would boot automatically. 4- nice surprise!!! everything is working like a dream, now press the "off" button on the harmony...nothing happened (except other devices went off) the HTPC is still up. 5- used the harmony remote to let XBMC go to sleep (using menus), the HTPC slept with no problems. 6- pressed the power button…

I've upgraded one of my flircs to the lastest 2.5 software and enabled the sleep detection in the advanced setting as I did this. My understanding is this will allow only a single key to wake the htpc (rather than any key - which is the default). However how do I set which key to use. (i'm using the flirx xbmc on my harmony ultimate remote - so would like to set - 'select' only to wake the htpc). Thanks.

Hello, new flirc user. I am using flirc with a HTPC and Harmony remote with WMC keyboard device selected. Some of the video apps I use are Plex, Dish Anywhere, Amazon streaming. Unfortunately the keyboard shortcuts for the most needed functions (play pause ffwd rew etc.) are not the same between all the apps (what is worse, I can't even find keyboard shortcuts for some apps, but I digress). I tried forcing a firmware upgrade from my Mini running osx 10.9.2 and the latest FLIRC app. Seems stuck and won't complete. I am using usb3 ports. Is there another way of upgrading or restoring the FLIRC to the state it came in? Used to work great! Philip

Hello everyone. While I am loving my Flirc, one thing is driving me crazy. Yes its that old cannot wake boot pc that I have read sooo much about. I am running openelec 3.95 and using firmware 2.3 My mobo is a gigabyte GA-H87-D3H which is supposed to support Gigabytes on/off charge to supply power to the USB's when turned off. I have this installed and all should be OK. All the information about this mentions the USB headers for this to work are white with red inside. These headers do not appear on this board, lots of folk on the Gigabyte forums are confused too, I have emailed support, nothing back from them. So I had enormous troubles getting the GUI to work in mythbuntu 12.0.4, I tried running as root and kept getting a QT error. So, I transferred over to my windows machine and programmed the remote using the keyboard. I then transfered Flirc back to my frontend mythtv and it isn't working. Worked fine on my Windows 7 machine. Thoughts? Hi I just got flirc and ouya today and spent the last few hours getting it working with my ouya. Obviously android recognises it as a usb keyboard so some functions work right away but you need to get a little tricky if you want everything to work seemlessly including android home, menu, back buttons. I cant seem to get flirc to wake my htpc from sleep. I have latest firmware and gui with win 7. My wireless USB keyboard will wake my PC from start. There is no option in device manager to "allow device to wake from sleep" could this be the problem?

Hi all, I've noticed a lot of people talking about using hte keyboard emulator in flirc along with eventghost to control XBMC. I'm using a harmony remote and all the key mapping actually looks pretty good for the most part. However, I'd like to add a few new functionalities (eg. open XBMC) which are windows commands and not XBMC commands. I'd like to avoid having to use the keyboard emulator and remap everything with eventghost if possible...is there any way to use XBMC controller but add some functionalities? I could use the keyboard emulator for those select functions, but I'm not sure if they can both be used simultaneously? Thanks!
