  1. Started by Plutotype,

Hi, My Flirc arrived and I managed to assign everything well so far ( Sony HX850 HDTV remote ). Launching the Flirc app on startup can be be achived with Windows tools ( using startup folder or using task scheduler ), but I would need that the Flirc GUI window wont lauch in a window but hidden in a tray. Basically I need the GUI window runnig in the background. There are again apps like Trayit or RBTray, but maybe the developer of Flirc GUI can add this feature natively in Flirc settings. Thanks Pluto

  2. I'm using my FLIRC with a Raspberry PI running XBMC (Xbian) - I wondered for age how the hell I'm supposed to delete a content source in XBMC, then I found it .... context menu .... only that key (defaults to "c" in xbmc) is not part of your XBMC controller key-set..... arrgh !! Solved easily of course by switching to keyboard layout and mapped MENU on my remote to "c" - simple, but oh so much simpler if you actually had context menu on your XBMC key-set. Did I miss something ? I cannot believe that you left out the menu key, xbmc is unusable without it.

  3. I am using flirc to control a self made media box. I found it really wonderful that I can omit all the hassles of configuration that normally special hardware requires in Linux. Everything is great and the key assignment is super easy with the software, but there is one thing I miss greatly: I am using the control of my old media box and with that it was possible with one long press to navigate a list of titles just holding the key. Meaning the Cursor down or up functionality repeated automatically after a short while. That is a function that not only is available on many remotes, but also keyboards have a autorepeat functionality. Flirc has not, it seems. …

  4. Hi, This is an idea, not very important for me right now but could be convenient. Let say you have a usual remote for some devices. At the top of the remote you have few keys to choose the device to send the beam: TV, DVD, SAT, PLAYER, AUX... First you press the device key and then press the action key to the selected device. What is the purpose of the play, pause, fast forward, etc when you select TV? Nothing. When you select PLAYEUR key the above keys are used to the right action for the player and mapped. Note the codes are not the same when device selected is TV or PLAYER. It could be usefull to map the play, pause, fast forward, etc to command the play…

  5. Hello, Yesterday bought a Logitech Harmony Touch remote, it works great with the FLIRC-XBMC Profile but a few buttons don't work. - Guide - PVR Commands Would be great that it will be added to the profile !!!

Hello there! I'm using flirc and it's great!! but.... I would like to know if it's possible to change the default keyboard layout used in GUI and flirc_util.exe I'm from Italy and i'm using standard qwerty italian layout. Although this is not a problem for normal keys like letters or numbers, it is a big problem when i want to pair special keys like the plus sign or slash. I've tried also pairing them with command line utility flirc_util.exe, but it is the same. For example to use volume up/down keys with XBMC you have to pair plus and minus keys. If I pair them with GUI without changing system keyboard layout, the plus sign is mapped to "ì" and minus…

Suggestion: when assigning keys, the displayed controller map (xbmc, full keyboard, etc) show display which keys have already been programmed into the FLIRC. Eg: the corresponding key on the visual map is highlighted or dimmed when it has been acknowledged as mapped by the FLIRC hardware device.

  8. Hi Jason, would it be possible for you to create a specific Topic in the forum where you publish info of new releases? (as you did with pre-releases) :) And could you please also write the release date of current release on the download page? I really miss this today and it's difficult to keep track of if I have the latest release installed.

Hello all, I bought this and a Rii Mini and I have to say the FLIRC is so much cooler. The Rii mini is going back in the box and in the closet. Just wanted to give a big thanks to the flirc team and let you guys know I'm going to up sell this to everyone I know... I might even buy a few more for different rooms and to have a few extra around the house just in case one brakes. Cheers, -TweakedEh

Hello, I suggest to add azerty keybpard support. Indeed, some Flirc's virtual qwerty keyboard keys are different if I use my own azerty keyboard. One more thing that will a cool feature : press my keyboard key instead of clicking on flirc's virtual keyboard key.

Hi, Hope I haven't posted this in the wrong place. I'd just like to give a big thanks for the people involved in Flirc. I've just done a new install of Mythbuntu/Mythtv and Flirc made the remote control as easy as anything. Last time I did this I used LIRC and it was a real pain getting it to work and getting all the keys programmed. Thanks very much. Steve.

  12. Will flirc support this so we could perhaps control XBMC via flirc using our voice, or hand gestures?

  13. Started by aanno,

Hello, on Linux, there is a specification for supporting 'Media Player Remote Interfacing' [http://specifications.freedesktop.org/mpris-spec/latest/]. Very many Linux Media Player really adhere to this specification (e.g. vlc, banshee, rhythmbox). Sometimes, a plugin is needed, for example XMBC needs http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Add-on:MPRIS_D-Bus_interface . It would be very cool if Flirc would support MPRIS 2.2 on Linux. I guess that this would beak down to the following: Provide a special keyboard layout in the Flirc application the could map the MPRIS functionality. Provide a software daemon that translates the Flirc dongle (emulated) key strokes t…

I tried the native XBMC profile on my Logitech Harmony, and it worked beautifully(ish)! As far as I can see, most of the concerns (for example ) are still valid. Using XBMCs new PVR functionality adds on a couple of more missing keys. Wouldn't it be easier to just have a full keyboard profile, with as many keys as possible just generically named? This way, "power" users would be able to create a perfect setup directly in the Harmony tool, without needing modifications of keymap.xml or using multiple devices on the remote to get more buttons. What do you say Jason? Please let me know if there's anything I can do to help.

I'd love the ability to reprogram my remote buttons from within my Ouya, rather than turning everything off, disconnecting, and going downstairs to my PC. Any possibility of an Android app in the future?

It would be nice to be able to buy an alternative version of flirc for internal installation, I have small kids and a dongle sticking out would dissappear or break quite fast, and imo it looks better ;) First thing I did when I got the device in the mail was to break it open and solder on a cable for internal usb connection and drilled a couple of holes in the htpc front and mounted it with a custom mounting bracket I made, works perfectly. But unfortunately not everyone feels comfortable with a soldering iron so be able to buy this ready to go, possibly with a mounting bracket would be great. :D So this is my simple suggestion and thank you for a great produc…

  17. I setup my FLIRC today and although it was pretty straightforward, I made some observations that may help other new owners. Firstly, the GUI needs to come with just a few more instructions. Simple things like, do the remote commands immediately become active or do I have to 'save' the config...or is saving the config simply a backup? (I know all this now but it wasn't obvious at first) The full keyboard has a key labelled 'DELETE' where the backspace should be. Delete and backspace AREN'T the same thing and when looking to program the XBMC function assigned to the backspace key, it's a bit confusing. Also, some of the icons/keys on the XBMC programming screen in …

I see that you folks make announcements via Twitter. Any chance of doing the same on Facebook? I see that there is a page created, but hasn't seen much love lately. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Flirc/261504800602090 I get similar announcements from OpenELEC, RasPlex and RaspBMC. I would love to get some FLIRC updates on my wall as well.

  19. Hi, new FLIRC user, just received 4 units. I am trying to get reliable XBMC/openELEC control using URC MX-890 remotes. I am using Zotac ZBOX ID84 machines, they do come with USB IR receivers, but the URC Complete Control programming app does not include a standard MCE profile that works with the Zotac IR remote. I did learn program the remote, but its operation is unreliable, especially the play and up keys. I am trying to use FLIRC and as recommended in the Harmony Remote thread, I am using a Panasonic TC-P65VT30 remote as template. Seems to work ok, but I am missing a few useful buttons that are present on the Zotac MCE remote, and most other MCE remotes. …

Jason, any chance you would consider adding Tapatalk support for the forum here at Flirc.tv? It would be great for us mobile viewers...thanks! http://www.tapatalk.com/activate_tapatalk.php?plugin=ipb

  21. I would like to see a flirc that would also have an IR emitter, and the right software to become an universal remote command translator. In fact we can do this with USB-UIRT but I like the idea behind flirc that does not need any programming expertise to associate IR signals it receives to keyboard commands. The idea would be to record IR signals from two different remotes and make FLIRC send the IR signal of remote #2 when it receives IR signal of remote #1. This way we could use remotes like the PS3 V2 that can command TV from various makers but is limited to Sony for audio equipment control. I'm sure it could prove very useful in many other scenarios to unify m…

Hi guys :) Yes I know this has been discussed before, yes i know that keyboard repeat rate is controlled by OS but.... Currently I am running XBMC on top of Ubuntu minimal, before that it was XBMCbuntu and before that Openelec. What ever I tried it never worked, I would enter needed commands but nothing changed spped of keyboard and flirc was always same. Back when I was on XBMCbuntu I learned that keyboard repeat rate was "hardwired" inside XBMC - but i did not quite understand what it meant. I always used SSH to log into my XBMC machine and change setting from remote computer and that is way I did not understand what was happening. So to "problem…

  23. Started by baj1,

These are probably low-priority requests, but I thought I'd mention them anyway. Is there a way to view the keyboard mapping, like in a table some how (the entire configuration)? Also, how hard would it be to enable keyboard shortcuts for the menu in the config utility? I guess this isn't a high-use program, but I keep pressing ALT-F, etc to get to the menus and nothing happens. I'm a keyboard guy and my brain is having a hard time adjusting to using the mouse for this. Thanks! -Brad

I'd like to see that if you press a programmed button, it's corresponding key in the GUI should blink. This would confirm that the button was properly programmed.

  25. Started by erikhorn,

Would it be possible to add the Numpad to the full keyboard in the flirc gui? I wanted to program a remote so I could use "Mouse Keys". Specifically I need LeftAlt-LeftShift-Numlock to toggle mouse keys on and off, and the number/arrow keys on the keypad. It knows the different between the numpad vs. the non-numpad keys. Thanks, Erik
