  1. Hello, first of all, it's 2018, and there's a forum, accounts, account-creation on plain, unsecure http, maybe that's something to be fixed, or not... The main reason for my account-creation was to ask about my Flirc favourite doohickey, is there plans for making a Kodi-case for Raspberry Pi 3B+ and with possible separate version for the coming Raspberry Pi 3B+ with PoE-hat, yes the official Poe-hat includes a small fan and therefore most likely ruins the dream of silent operating RPi with no moving, eventually failing parts. Maybe the fan could be removed should Flirc's aluminium-cooling design proove sufficient enough? But that's my second question!

Would be nice to have Page Up and Page Down added to the Kodi template. I use it often so you can scroll through your media quickly. I got it using the keyboard template but it took me a bit to figure out I could go between them to add key maps. Thanks.

Now that I've spent hours setting up my Flirc (no fault of Flirc, there's just a lot of factors to consider) it would be nice if I could dump my Flirc's mappings to file that I could save in my backups, just in case I got a new Flirc or my current Flirc gets stolen or zapped. AND, tweaker that I am, it would be nice if that backup file was editable text, not binary. Of course this implies that the backup file is used by the other nice-to-have function: a Flirc restore.

Some suggestions to make more script friendly, or just to improve security or missing things. flirc_util options: - format : does not asks for confirmation. It is dangerous. Any "delete all" action should ask for confirmation, if not overridden by a force switch. - keys : does not show which HID code is tied to the key index, if it is not recognized by the default listed keys (it always shows !). It should be anyhow a good practice to show the HID code used, even if the key is recognized. Perhaps by inserting a new column between "ID" and "key" columns, as the "key" column is of variable length and should be the last one. If this is to be implemented…

This would be much appreciated as it would allow manual editing as needed or at least cherry picking of other's configs.

It would be nice to be able to drop HEX codes on individual function right in the programming menu, instead of firing the ir codes from a remote. This would be very helpful for integrators, as we all use centralized processors to fire IR codes to IR bugs...this way we could just choose the proper IR codes in the software program them to the remote (crestron/rti/urc) and apply the proper hex code to the flirc buttons.

So in the Flirc config program where it's showing the layout of your virtual controller, it's the most logical thing to expect to see which buttons of your virtual controller are already mapped (and possibly, also to what, using maybe IR codes from your physical remote for idtentification). Why doesn't the software actually show this important info?

looking at the Kodi layout keys (controlers menu ) you are missing the Contextual menu key ,,,,same as pressing c on keyboard when in Kodi ..... could you please add this as shortcut .. Contextual menu is used a lot in Kodi ...thank you if i have missed it iam sorry

The Flirc executable in the "Universal Static Package" is 32 bits - which requires messing with 32 bit libraries. Suggest to add 64 bit version.

My Pi 2 Kodi setup uses a Didi+ sound card. It would be nice if this case allowed for it.

Hi there, I have been using Flirc with 2 different Android base TV boxes and in every case of Kodi freezing (which happens once a day) I can not minimize the app and go to the home screen to restart Kodi unless I switch to the native remote. My recent TV box is Nvidia Shield TV and I constantly need to grab the Shield remote, turn it on, press the circle button a bunch of time until I get to the home screen and then I can return to the TV remote that is working with Flirc to do the rest. Would be awesome to have an option ! :) Cheers, G

  14. How about adding a 3.5 mm jack for ir extension kabels? i know it possible to extend your flirc with a usb extender but those kables are to big if you need to drill holes and the flirc is not as easily hidden. By adding a 3.5 mm jack you would also be able to connect, lets say, a slingbox directly in the case that you own multiple slingboxes, connected to boxes responding to the same ir codes, in a tight lokation, near an internet connection for an example :). Im describing my setup after travelling with my kids who watches different TVshows on ipads and I hope that adding a jack to the flirc is something you guys would consider.

at the moment i usually use AutoHotKey in order to cause a key combination to let's say open up Plex on my windows PC, or maybe WinAmp. it would be nice if I could forego AutoHotKey and just map an IR command to run any file (execuable, batch, script,...).

  17. I've been using the flirc with an Intel NUC Windows 10 and a Harmony remote. I have the wake button from the keyboard profile paired, and the power button from the media keys profile paired. The power button will put the PC into sleep mode, and the wake button will wake it back up, but neither will do both. I've tried adjusting BIOS settings for USB waking the PC, and driver settings in Win10 for allowing devices to wake the PC from suspend. Since the wake button is working to bring the PC out of sleep, would it be possible to setup the wake button to send the sleep command when the PC is running? Thanks

I'd love to see the Flirc case have a IR window for GPIO setups, maybe you could even have a add-on similar to keymap-editor preform the same function as the windows program does for the USB Flirc. The other option would possibly involve an automated SSH that can place a config file of your remote into the proper directory. For now I have just drilled an opening into my case and plan on getting a piece of Ir acrylic to clean up the looks...

After spending a lot of time trying to get it to work the way I want it to, I think I have come to the conclusion that the only way to do what I need is the ability to program a little macro so a single remote press can be a set of key combinations. Others have had this issue, the Apple silver remote behaviour is different when Kodi is on an Apple device vs a dedicated device, eg openElec. I am not talking about long press, I have read that topic. I am looking to move from our aging mac mini with Kodi to openelec running on a Fitlet. However, this issue is the one thing currently stopping us making the change, the family hates it and complains. On Mac Kodi, the me…

Hey man, I am one of your original supporters. I bought two Flircs way back in the day when they were $35 or so plus shipping and only available from your site. Now they are on Amazon for half the cost with free shipping. A steal! I have lost count of how many I have told ppl to buy after they saw what can be done with an HTPC (probably close to a hundred is my guess). Anyway, I have seen that you have done a lot with firmware, software, compatibility, features. But the one thing that bothers me is the form factor of this device. I know you need to keep the casing clear to be compatible with IR signals. I am fine with that. But I wish that you could shrink down the f…

Hi there, It's been a while since I've been to the flirc forums. I have 4 flircs in the house at the moment, all connected to seperate htpc setups and all working great. A while ago in these forums I suggested a feature to add secondary functions to buttons to add more functionality for smaller minimal button remotes like the apple tv remote. An example would be; to wake the pc push and hold a button to trigger the wake command, or push and hold 'up' to adjust volume. Essentially this would double the amount of functionality of a small remote. This suggestion seemed to gain momentum with the creator of flirc even stating that he was even working to implement the fe…

Since some remotes send alternating codes and there are multiple questions/postings about having to record the same key twice, why not record two key presses when going through the setup? The second press could confirm the original code, or determine if the remote alternates codes between presses. If users don't want to go through this process, you could also just make this an option in the Advanced menu "My remote uses multiple codes per button". Possible workflow: 1) Press a button on the gui or use the flirc_util record command 2) Prompt user to press a button on the remote 3) User presses button on the remote 4) Acknowledge the code was received and prompt t…

Just wanted to say thanks for a great product. My apologies for the long post. This is kind of a feature request/bug report of sorts. More than anything I'm sure the problem lies with the myharmony app, but I'm hoping you find this worth reading and can come up with a solution. I have run into an issue that I thought should be brought to your attention. I recently purchased a Flirc and a Harmony 650 for use with an HTPC running XBMC. The biggest motivation for me in purchasing these products was that I have an older tv that has some HDMI handshake issues with my AVR. Everything works, but only if I turn it all on in a certain order (htpc first, then avr). If I t…

  25. I would really like a full keyboard with numpad and button like PrintScrn too! Something like numpad may seems useless, but actually Windows uses it for mimic the mouse, so it has a purpose, like other buttons, at least for me! (by the way how it's called the one right to the right Win button?!) Thank you.
