  1. Hi all, I am trying to program URC MX-780 to power up/wake up my original MiBox (manually downgraded back to Android 8.0). After initial Xiaomi faulty upgrade of their MiBoxes (that made the box unstable and often unresponsive), I went back to using Roku which the MX-780 controls just fine. However, there is one custom app that cannot be loaded on Roku (Russian TV service that my mother watches). I was going to throw away the MiBox but found the tutorial on downgrading it back to original FW which worked and now I have fully functioning MiBox. I managed to upload Xiaomi Hex codes on the MX-780 and the remote controls the box just fine EXCEPT for the "power" command. The "Power Off" Hex code works just fine but I was unable to get "power ON" command to work. The same command ("Power ON") works 100 % of the time from the original BT remote. So I bought a USB Flirc hoping that I will be able to program it to reliably turn On the MiBox. Unfortunately, it was not the case: I tried programming under Kodi, Shield, Windows (wake command)- nothing worked so far. Have anyone managed to program gen.1 (original) MiBox to turn On/Off reliably using Flirc? If yes, what did you do? Thanks
  2. I've had a couple of the old style FLIRCs for ages that I haven't used for a while, but having just got a Channels DVR system I was pleased to discover there is a specific controller available for it. So I have updated my FLIRC software and then the firmware on my devices. 2 questions as a result. It looks like the Channels specific commands (Guide/DVR/Live/CC etc) don't work on my old Flircs, do I need the newer version to get these to function? Could a Stop button be added to the Channels Controller layout? I know there is a Channels API command for stop because that's what I'm currently using.
  3. No, I was trying the download beginning at this page: https://flirc.com/ubuntu-software-installation-guide I have just tried the curl command above and it did run and seemed to complete successfully but when I run Flirc I get a long stream of errors starting like this: ] gui/Flirc/src/main.cpp log_setup(131): flirc.ini not in the default location[E] lib/libflirc/flirc_driver.c fl_major_version(508): something bad happened [E] lib/libflirc/flirc_driver.c fl_minor_version(498): something bad happened [E] lib/libflirc/flirc_driver.c fl_patch_version(558): something bad happened [E] lib/libflirc/flirc_driver.c fl_major_version(508): something bad happened [E] lib/libflirc/flirc_driver.c fl_minor_version(498): something bad happened [E] lib/libflirc/flirc_driver.c fl_patch_version(558): something bad happened The GUI does pop up (version 3.27.10) and works, although the Advanced pop up window is empty.
  4. I don't have IR Debugging as an option there on my system. This is using my V1 Flircs (latest firmware). I will try later with my V2 in case it is only available on those. EDIT (I did find it in the end it's under File->Device Log-> Enable IR Debugging) but I don't believe the issue is anything to do with the IR side. It is what the "2" digit in the Channels Controller is mapped to send over the USB interface that is the problem. I have tried mapping different buttons and even used an entirely different remote, no matter what remote button I map to the Channels Controller "2" button, when connected to the Shield and the button is pressed it sends a "down" command as well as the "2" command. It does this whether I am in the Channels app or on the general Shield menu. All other digits in the Channels Controller work correctly. I have attached a config file. This one has both the keyboard "2" mapped to my Humax profile IR 2 (which works correctly) and the Channels Controller 2 mapped to a random LG remote 2 which sends "down" and "2" Did you see my post earlier about Flirc on Linux btw? I have to say, I absolutely love Flircs and my AV system couldn't run without their functionality, but I do find it very frustrating to setup and use the programming GUI. 1) On Linux it was a days worth of Googling to even get it installed with a ridiculously complex set of commands. It still throws up errors when it runs. I haven't a clue how I would now go about an update to the latest firmware. 2) On Windows the GUI crashes whenever I plug in a V1 Flirc. I have to close the GUI, plug the Flirc in and restart the GUI. Even then sometimes it still crashes. 3) You cannot successfully restore a configuration file from a V1 Flirc to a V2. It gives no error message when you do it but nothing is actually copied across. So I end up having to go through the setup all over again on the V2 and then duplicate any adjustments I make to both V1 and V2 files. 4) At some point in the past when connected to the GUI, you could press a button on the remote and the button it was programmed to would flash on the GUI screen. This was really useful to check you had programmed every button as you wanted but this functionality seems to have gone. It certainly doesn't work with the Channels Controller. Flirc seems to be a very small company so I don't want to be too harsh, and once set up the devices themselves are totally brilliant, but really I wish the GUI program was easier to install on Linux and more reliable on all platforms. fordebuggingthe2issue.fcfg
  5. Update I updated the Flirc GUI Firmware on my Windows machine and reprogrammed my Flirc using the Channels Controller. Mostly it seems to work, but I think I found a bug and the TV, Guide, DVR buttons didn't work quite as I expected. The bug is that the "2" digit when programmed using the Channels Controller seems to send a down command as well as the "2". All the other digits in the Channels Controller work fine and if I select the "2" from the keyboard layout, instead of the Channels Controller "2" and program that to my remote "2" button, that works fine. With regard to the TV, Guide and DVR buttons I thought they would go directly to the Live TV, Guide and DVR pages. But it looks like they are actually sending F1(Blue),F2(Red),F3(Green),F4(Yellow) commands which you can then set within the Channels app to do different things. So depending how you have Channels set up, the Guide command from Flirc could actually go to Live TV,Recordings etc etc not the Guide. I already use the F1/F2 etc functionality so was hoping the TV,Guide,DVR buttons in Flirc would be mapped directly to those commands and free up the F1/F2 options within channels for other stuff. Maybe this is not technically possible?
  6. While waiting for my remote to ship, I figured I'd go ahead and set up my activities ahead of time in the software. (The software is very straightforward and nice to use, BTW.) Everything is all set except for one thing, mentioned in the title. The "Back" button is missing for the Roku Streambar device (the only Roku device in the list of audio devices). As that's one of my most used buttons, I'm hoping you can add it to the command list for the Streambar? (I know the process for adding a device now, but not one specific command to a device already in the database.) If it helps, I have an old Roku 2 media device I don't use anymore, and tried out the Back button on its remote - it worked fine on the Streambar. And I saw that the Roku 2 in your database does have the Back button in the list of commands. So I imagine you can just copy the code for that into the Streambar's list of commands? Let me know if you'll be able to get that added when you can. Thanks in advance.
  7. Hello, I want to purchase a FLIRC but I want to be sure Ill be able to work out what i need to do before I do. My situation: Have PC (Win10) Stereo Amplifier My requirement is to be able to turn on/off the amp, and control its volume from Windows command line (my whole goal is to go remote-less) I know the FLIRC can send IR commands and can learn them too. But the process of doing this via command line with flirc_utils sendir is confusing. For my amplifier, the RAW IR codes are available in the support manual. But sending that via sendir is where I'm getting stuck. Volume down for example is: 000 006D 0022 0002 0157 00AC 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0689 0157 0056 0015 0E94 But I'm unsure how to 'convert' that info a format that sendir will accept/understand. I found these threads below, which are quite similar to what I'm after - but as above, I don't really know how to convert it. Do I/can I use IrScrutinizer? I asked ChatGPT but it gave lots of incorrect answers. Thanks!
  8. Thanks Jason, Ir learning wont work for this because the physical remote has far less buttons than is available with the IR codes. The function i want is to switch input to aux which is multiple presses on the remote but with IR code it would only be one hence why im using the skip. So can you please tell me how to add these codes thanks? KEF LS50 Wireless II IR Codes for Universal Remote Control The following tables list the command codes required. 9. While you are working on that area, would it be possible to add a Stop button to the Channels Controller? I have been mapping the stop command to the media stop button which works fine, but it would nice to have all Channels commands that need mapping on the one controller page.
  10. @asybaNoodling with beta 4 with IR learning to try addressing this problem I made a discovery. It may apply to other devices also... worth a look. The default setup for DirecTV receivers in the database is for the play/pause button on the Skip to send a "Play" code. There is no "play/pause toggle" command that can be applied. I was going to try learning what my other remotes were sending as a toggle to get the required code, or if not successful apply "pause" to the stop button on the Skip. I noticed that as I was dinking with the other remote, trying to learn the codes, My TV was play/pause toggling when I was pressing the pause button on a remote I was trying to learn. Turns out that the "pause" command IS a toggle. Removing "play" and applying "pause" to the play/pause Skip button (rather than the default "play") makes the play/pause work as one might expect. Deep sigh of relief; It had been driving me, or more to the point my wife, crazy! Marital bliss restored - mostly!
  11. I'm not able to install the windows 10 app (and the Linux version simply does not recognized the remote once plugged in, And i'm not rich I don't have a mac) Tried to install it manually but I could not find a suitable version version for one of the dependencies. ``` PS C:\Users\***\Downloads> add-appxpackage -Path ".\SkipApp-0.9.80-Beta-x64.msix" add-appxpackage : Deployment failed with HRESULT: 0x80073CF3, Package failed updates, dependency or conflict validation. 12. I just received my Flirc Gen 2, and so far it's been a breeze to set up. I'm using the full keyboard option to control the audio output of a Raspberry Pi, using alsamixer commands... "Q"= left channel+, "Z"= left channel-, "E"= right channel+, "C" right channel-, "B"= balance equal, "W"= volume+, and "X"= volume-. But I also want to map the mute button... that requires an actual command: "amixer -D hw:CARD=audioinjector set 'Output Mixer Line Bypass' toggle". Is this possible?
  13. Just got my skip1s and so far it's working really well... except for ONE small thing. I'm use a FireTV on my LG OLED TV (OLED65A1AUA), and I've been trying to get the 1s to control most of the commands needed for it via the TV's HDMI-CEC functionality. However, there is one button that I need to create a sequence to be able to program the 'HOME' command, which will take me to the Fire Stick's 'Home' screen. The LG TV remote is the MR21GC magic remote. On it, there is a button that has a '...' image on it, labelled as the 'More Actions' button. Pressing this button opens up a context menu with additional commands for the Fire Stick remote, one being the 'Home' command. I've tried all of the commands available when assigning the LG Category's 1 and 2 models from the Skip App database, but none of them are able to open this 'More Actions' context menu. Is there a way I can get some help figuring out how I can get the 1s remote to 'press' this 'More Actions' button from the LG Magic Remote? I've attached the TV's documentation which included the button layout for it. There are also some key codes at the end of the manual, but I can't figure out how to use this to do what I'm looking to do... any help would be greatly appreciated. 14. As a developer myself, I find it useful to see a video of what is going on. What this shows is first, something that isn't that important, but in case you didn't know. On windows if you just enter flirc_util, the library dll doesn't find it, you have to actually enter flirc_util.exe. Another thing is that you can't have the GUI up for flirc_util to work, which might just be by design. Then I thought I'd erase the left control 2 entry and try to re-learn it. But when I try, I just get erase cancelled. I also can't get a new key to learn. I click on the key to learn then emit the IR command, but nothing happens. And it appears once you get in a state, there's not way to clear things without rebooting. Anyway, I'm sure it's something I'm doing wrong, but any help would be appreciated. 15. I'm trying to set up play/pause for a Nvidia Shield Pro (2019) with my Harmony 650. Play/pause is one button on the Shield, but two buttons on the Harmony remote. I could just use the play or pause button, but it's not a clean solution and confusing for other people using the remote. How can I do this?
  16. Good morning everyone, I've recently received my Skip 1s and Flirc USB and have some ideas/suggestions/questions. For that to make sense, I'll need to write a bit about how I came to make this post. Background story I found out about the Skip 1s online and think it looks amazing, the Flirc USB also looks great and the feature set of both devices good (especially since it has Linux support, which is a killer feature for me, as a daily Linux user). The Harmony remote of a "friend" broke and I want to replace it, to make his/her life a lot simpler. So I went and ordered these devices and attempted to configure the Skip 1s (the Flirc USB was more a fallback option, but since I'm a techie, I wanted to check it out as well). Skip 1s app So I downloaded the Skip 1s app (manual Linux version, NOT the repository version). And here I was confronted with a couple of issues on my Ubuntu 23.04 system: installation instructions ( https://flirc.com/ubuntu-software-installation-guide ) they include an outdated dependency list (but that won't stop me, although I hoped the qt5 dependencies would not bite me, since qt6 is the default nowadays) it mentions a file ( 99-flirc.rules ) which I eventually found the content of on this page ( https://flirc.gitbooks.io/flirc-instructions/content/linux.html ). A manual chown and chmod could do the trick as well (without udev rules in place) as a temporary workaround (did not want to fiddle with udev for now). running the GUI app it seems to have a ldd it shows a GUI, but keeps throwing errors about flirc_driver.c: user@host:~$ ./Flirc [E] lib/libflirc/flirc_driver.c fl_minor_version(498): something bad happened [W] gui/Flirc/src/main.cpp log_setup(131): flirc.ini not in the default location[E] lib/libflirc/flirc_driver.c fl_major_version(508): something bad happened [E] lib/libflirc/flirc_driver.c fl_minor_version(498): something bad happened [E] lib/libflirc/flirc_driver.c fl_patch_version(558): something bad happened [E] lib/libflirc/flirc_driver.c fl_major_version(508): something bad happened That probably explains why the GUI always states it is "disconnected" Going to File -> Advanced opens a new windows which is empty (all grey) running the flirc_util it seems to have a hard dependency on libreadline.so.7 which has been superseded by libreadline.so.8 (on my system at least). That can be worked around by creating a symlink in /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu running flirc_util unfortunately always gives me the same output: user@host:~$ ./flirc_util device_log device disconnected, can't run command So I thought to manually compile flirc_util ( https://github.com/flirc/sdk ), but after compiling and running the binary, it gave me the same issue. checking out the configuration bits (trying to get a feel for it) I noticed my devices are not in the database. TV: LG OLED55C21LA and soundbar: LG S90QY(26) and there is no clear way to add them. I did read this forum topic: I don't mind manually creating and submitting json files for those remotes, but there does not seem to be a clear way to do just that. Ideas / suggestions / questions So I have several ideas / suggestions / questions, based on the experience above: create a link on the installation page to the udev rules update the dependencies and fix the GUI and cli apps provide instructions on how to create and submit json files. Especially the bit on how to get the IR codes (can't figure how to do that with the Flirc USB) provide a LICENSE on all source code ( https://docs.github.com/en/repositories/managing-your-repositorys-settings-and-features/customizing-your-repository/licensing-a-repository ). Personally I strongly prefer the GPLv3 ( https://choosealicense.com/licenses/gpl-3.0/ ). I notice that (for me personally) it motivates me to work / help an open source project, since the license means it is future proof and my own work will always be available and improved upon. perhaps (depending on your goals), provide the source code of everything ;-) use a simple wiki for documentation you can use a per repo wiki (there's a tab in github for that, easy and done in a few clicks: https://docs.github.com/en/communities/documenting-your-project-with-wikis/adding-or-editing-wiki-pages ) or use something like Github Pages ( https://pages.github.com/ ) Apologies for creating a single forum topic with several topics in them, but it is all very intertwined. Just trying to help out here :-)
  17. Basic info: Ubuntu 16.04 Flirc 3.20.4, installed both ways (tried alternates) described here: https://flirc.tv/ubuntu-software-installation-guide (Debian curl, and generic 64bit archive). Output below is the debian curl install. Latest hardware (the metal one, bought 1 week ago) The GUI launches, but it does not connect - see screenshot. However, the dongle is indeed connected, and it successfully receives commands from my Harmony remote, and controls my Kodi setup. However, I would like to remap a few commands, and to do so I need to have the Flirc config GUI working. Launching from the command prompt has some repeating output which may help - see below. I can't seem to run any of the flirc_util commands to get logs etc because it needs to be connected first. richard@home-media:/usr/bin$ Flirc [W] gui/Flirc/src/main.cpp log_setup(131): flirc.ini not in the default location[E] gui/Flirc/src/device_log.cpp update_fields(139): updating fields, present: 0 [E] gui/Flirc/src/device_log.cpp update_fields(139): updating fields, present: 0 [E] lib/libflirc/flirc_driver.c fl_major_version(403): something bad happened [E] lib/libflirc/flirc_driver.c fl_minor_version(393): something bad happened [E] lib/libflirc/flirc_driver.c fl_patch_version(413): something bad happened [E] gui/Flirc/src/device_log.cpp update_fields(139): updating fields, present: 0 [E] lib/libflirc/flirc_driver.c fl_major_version(403): something bad happened [E] lib/libflirc/flirc_driver.c fl_minor_version(393): something bad happened [E] lib/libflirc/flirc_driver.c fl_patch_version(413): something bad happened <<repeats those last 4 lines continuously, roughly every second or so>>
  18. Quick Answer The Harmony Hub is primarily RF controlled. Direct control with the Skip is not supported possible. Not Quick Answer In theory, you can set up a Raspberry Pi with Home Assistant and a FLIRC as a translation layer between IR and IP control for the Harmony Hub. The FLIRC would receive the IR command from the Skip, triggering a Home Assistant action. The main challenges include potential latency from the translation process and the need to establish actions and connections. I haven't done it, but below are a couple of links to get you started if you want to try. * Harmony Hub/Home Assistant Integration * Controlling Home Assistant with an Old Remote
  19. Hello, Hope that this i the right forum as my input relates both Skip 1s remote and Flirc USB. I recently received my Skip 1s remote with Flirc USB. I will appreciate for some guidiance about setup as I am little confused about how to setup my configuration. My setup is Desktop PC (with Flirc) and Kodi, Google TV Chromecast dongle (with remote) and all connected to my LG TV (UH 850V-with magic remote) My previous PC Zalman case has internal IR receiver with IMON app and remote. Since I want to same power on/off function, I also installed Inteset Internal IR Receiver which wakes from The Off State(S5) (because unfortunately Flirc SE not available anymore) I would like to setup as; * Activity A: PC 1- Turn on PC (via sent command to Inteset Internal receiver) 2 Turn on TV and switch HDMI 1 3- Use most Skip 1s buttons for Windows main functions. 4- Shutdown TV and PC * Activity B: Kodi 1- Turn on PC (via sent command to Inteset Internal receiver) and launch Kodi (or only launch Kodi-as I can do first step via Activity A) 2- Turn on TV and switch HDMI 1 3- Use most Skip 1s buttons for Kodi/Media Player and some for LG TV's 3D on/off and picture mode button 4- Exit Kodi 5- Shutdown TV and PC and LG's volume up/down and picture mode button 4- Shutdown TV and Google TV Thanks in advance
  20. this is working for me, but I have just a single command.
  21. Response from Keith at Emotiva that I sent to Jason... long story short: the new XDA-3 will likely have "product identifier" specific codes. So, the Skip database has "XDA series preamp", but those may not work with the new one. "All of the IR codes for our products, and almost all other products out there today, follow a standard format (sometimes known as "the Philips Pronto standard"). This means that they can all be programmed into a true learning remote or one of those remotes that "learns" codes from other remotes. However, in theory, each individual product has a "product identifier", and the codes are supposed to be unique for each and every individual product. The codes on some of our specific products do actually intentionally overlap - for example the codes for our XMC-1, XMC-2, and RMC-1 are the same. So, for example, even though a few of the buttons on the remote for the XMC-1 and XMC-2 do different things... ALL of the buttons on those remotes send the same CODES. You will also find that the "mini" remotes on some of our BasX products use a few of the same common codes as some of our larger processors. But... in reality... - there is sometimes some unexpected overlap and some codes may work across multiple products - the way the codes are sent is actually somewhat sloppy (so individual codes that are "close" may work for products other than the one they are intended to operate) (this is why a certain code, or sequence of codes, from one remote may quite unexpectedly cause another product to do something) - overall you will find that, with many products, common codes like VolUp and VolDn are the same or close enough to "overlap" There are several different kinds of "universal remotes"... The simplest ones simply have a "library" of the codes for several hundred popular products stored in them. These are the ones that ask you to pick your product by entering a three or four digit number from a list. Other "true learning remotes" actually allow you to enter codes - either manually or with an editor... And many of that type also give you the option of downloading sets of codes from an "online library" (like the Logitech Harmony). Others can actually record codes (you point your original remote at the programmable one, press record, press the button on the original remote, then assign that code to a button on the new remote). Yet others use a sort of trial and error method (they try various codes for each command... and ask you to confirm when the command worked... or choose to try another one.)"
  22. Hi there. As I see here this is a known issue, any update on when this is going to be fixed? You should consider removing the command if it doesn't work, just purchased my first Flirc and I was about to go nuts thinking I was doing something wrong, until I found that thread. If this doesn't get fixed, how can I delete a button I programmed using a remote I no longer have access to? Thank you, this seems like a fantastic product. Cheers, mprost
  23. Hello, I just bought a Flirc usb receiver and tried to flash it from a virtual machine with Windows. The flirc GUI app restarted and left flirc in a weird state. I've tried since to upgrade the firmware via the gui on a standalone Windows machine, however it crashes instantly when flirc is connected. I am unable to go to advanced menu or do any operations with the GUI tool. I am able to communicate with flirc via my Linux box. This are the outputs of some of the util commands. flirc_util device_log NVMCTRL bad command Reset Cause: SYST: False WDT: False EXT: False BOD33: False BOD12: False POR: True Error starting app header->boot_flag: FF ?= 0x55 Waiting in bootloader... flirc_util unit_test Self test not supported Flirc Fucked Flirc Not Okay Flirc Not Okay flirc_util settings 3.25.3 Bootloader Version: v3.3.1 [E] lib/libflirc/bootloader/bl_3.3.c fl_sku(115): not a valid image Hash: 0x538A716C Settings: sleep detection: NA noise canceler: NA inter-key delay: NA variant: Flirc builtin profiles: NA Memory Info: NA [E] lib/libflirc/bootloader/bl_3.3.c fl_sku(115): not a valid image product sku: NA Records: NA What can I do to fix this? I've read on the forum that maybe flashing firmware to it, might do the trick, but I am unable to find it anywhere. Thanks
  24. I've got an activity that uses my TV, Soundbar, and Roku. The activity shutdown doesn't turn off the soundbar and turns off the TV before sending a home command to the roku. This makes the TV turn back on since the Roku recieved a command. The app asks if everything looks ok, but I don't see a way to edit the shutdown sequence. Does anyone know the trick?
  25. Bingo !! Channel up & down now working :) But every command is sent twice. If I press number 1 - it send the number 11. If I press number 2 - its send the number 22. If I press channel up - It goes up 2 channels etc... Any way to change / fix that ?
