Awesome, thank you for doing that.
Try the attached using the instructions outlined here: -

Confused, so how can I, even with a blank remote get the new codes? And you saying the brands list is wrong, needs to be deleted otherwise I wont get the one in the database?
A new blank remote will launch the wizard.
in the main window there is a gear icon if you hover over the activity before selecting it. Click this and then go back to the wizard. Add your device again.

Same problem as before with the Ok(Cursor Enter) button. Its assigned but nothing is sent by the remote.
The remote is also still listed as an audio device and not a TV, so perhaps the wrong version of the file was included in the update. You need to re-add the device in the wizard. It was explicit not to overwrite your codes because what if our provider gives us something incorrect.
in the future it will let you know there is an update and prompt you. Show you the differences. And give you a way to revert.

Thanks for the responses and feedback @jason
1) So when I stated switching between the versions of the app installed, I ment using the option within the application itself that lets you pick Release, Beta or Nightly. Once you have selected say Beta, you cannot revert back to the Release version via the menu within the application - nothing happens. If I then go to Nightly I get the install prompt again (and now I can't go back to either Beta or Release version). I suspect you comment about the flushing the DNS is more to do with downloading from the website (as certainly doesn't help in this case).
2) Thanks for clarifying the situation with the button names. I get the need for internal names for auto assignments, I don't know how often you have to rename, but maybe there is an option to have an optional "friendly" name, and when present that's what we see, while the internal name is used to assign the key. This is a very minor issue (now its known), and so its a quality of life update, that certain can wait and should be on the bottom of the to do list.
Please note that its listed as an audio device still and not as a TV in the the nightly version 0.9.93.6374 which I'm assuming is the version you refer to coming out on Friday night. I tried removing the remote and re-creating the activity and its still an audio device and still not working.3) Great to hear the next update will address the naming and database management as that was getting confusing with more and more remotes added (I assume that if a file was present, with the same name as one in the database that could be clearly indicated in the selection screen, so we know if we are using a supplied code or a "extra" code. This will be useful when learning codes becomes a thing, as I suspect you'll want to add those in via the brands files, vs appending the database.
4) Manual Sync. So I went over the setup again, and found the specific case, where your checksum isn't working. This being the delay function, when you have a series of codes on a single button, and you want to add adjust the delay. Changing this does not seem to change the checksum and so you can't Sync the change. Adding a repeat does cause a change and does offer the sync (reverting that to what it was naturally removes the sync).
The other main use case for having a manual sync (and maybe it called something else), is when the software and especially the database is updated and the codes change for a remote within the database that's being used. How is that being handled? If the nightly has the new code for the "OK" button as suggested, I didn't get prompted. I had to replace the whole activity to try it out.
Currently trying 0.9.93.6374(Nightly) with 4.12.18-0-g69245a9 firmware (please can we make that information selectable in the app, just so we simplify reporting of issues!) but that every sync I have tried produces no visual indication at all zip, nothing. The ring light just stays blue, before, during and after. Is there a firmware I am missing?
5) Glad to hear you are working on the options for the combined keys, hopefully allowing the activity keys to be able to run a series of commands is right next to that - doesn't need to have two modes, like the power button, so maybe it's easier.
With regards the mailing list, I was the one that mentioned it to @Nathan that the mailing list doesn't send out an email about about your registration, and I think to date I have tried to register 3 times and so far beyond the 2 emails stating I was registered (on 29th June and again to be sure on the 28th July) I've had nothing (and yes checked spam filters etc). So nice idea, just nothing is coming out via that route for me. (I've used mailchimp before and I know its able to handle duplicates and discard them if they appear).
So currently the only emails I get are via this site and its digests and alerts systems (and none of them have ever mentioned an update).
As a side note, what I actually was suggesting with mailchimp is you can set it to send out an authorisation email (not a confirmation as now) which asks for the owner of the email address to confirm and authorise the use of their email address, which then completes the sign up process - this prevents bots signing up hundreds of accounts to it, thus filling up your free 500 contacts list, and making you pay each time something is sent out.
So in summary thanks for coming back to me, the remote is still not working and there are still a few issues over the update process of the app and the remote. The mailing list still doesn't do anything (for me).
I’ll get next to many of these soon. What is not working with your remote?

Ah, gotcha.
Trying to get this in to the next release. It's not as easy as just modifying our database. Can't do that, it's commercially licensed and then we need to track everything.
What we needed to do was create a way to make modifications to theirs during the build. So we came up with a method for merging/modifying/deleting entries during build. It's done, this is in there, but there are some bugs. I was hoping to release tonight, but we have to fix it first. Sometime early next week if not monday.

yeah, eventually the remote too, but it's a work in progress. Once you get the flirc, open up the flirc software. go to file->advanced. Enabel IR logging.
Then record what you get in the window with every press in a text file for me. For example:
Temp Up+9019 -2323 +123 -213. .....
Temp Down
+9019 -2323 +123 -213. .....I'll send you a file to try once I have those.

Yeah, not quite ready. I added the HP01, do those codes work for it?
Do you have a flirc usb? -

The other bit of feedback, the list of brands that have been imported is a little odd, and you can't see the last one, if the list is longer than the page - which by default it is, I deleted a few that I don't use, and now I can see the end of the list, with white space below, I'm able to see the last remote added and can delete it.
This should be fixed. More improvements are coming tonight. There is a mailing list:
On 7/18/2023 at 12:43 AM, Jilas671 said:1) how to switch between app versions without deleting everything and starting from again as can't downgrade from nightly to beta or to release!
You just need to download the right one. When you see the update about the wrong one, it's because you need to flush your DNS cache. Looking into how to improve this from our side.
On 7/18/2023 at 12:43 AM, Jilas671 said:was this remote actual included with the missing OK button into the database or as an extra brand file? Searching the file I couldn't see any labelled OK
Yes, but I see one bug, not sure if it caused a problem. There will be another update tonight.
On 7/18/2023 at 12:43 AM, Jilas671 said:how does the system/update process manage a clash between brand files (existing Vs new)? Which is used?
That is what 0.93 update is about. We are going to have a way to modify existing database entries rather than creating duplicates. I'll have more documentation about this soon.
On 7/18/2023 at 12:43 AM, Jilas671 said:4) we need a manual sync button, the app is being dumb by trying to be smart by only letting us sync if it things there is a change. (If item 3 is that it over writes, then there is no easy way to update the remote with the new codes)
Can't do this. We calculate a CRC on the host and on the device, if they are the same, we do not allow a sync. There would be no point other than killing the flash on the remote.
On 7/18/2023 at 12:43 AM, Jilas671 said:adding something to make the single play/pause work
Yeah, we need to do this. For mute too. Or a way to detect it and automatically do it.
On 7/27/2023 at 8:36 AM, Jilas671 said:Would be nice for the remote to flash or something to say it's been updated.
The activity letter lights up during transmission.
On 7/27/2023 at 8:36 AM, Jilas671 said:And will add a new oddity in the 0.9.92 beta, now when you view the Brands page, if you click on say the Westinghouse Fan remote, instead of showing that file, it shows me the details from the RX V-1000 at the end of the list! So for example, to get the westinghouse on screen, I actually have to select Topping -PRE90 to list the westinghouse codes out.
Yes, it is fixed in the next update.
On 7/27/2023 at 8:36 AM, Jilas671 said:There is still no Key listed as "OK".
Yes, the button needed to be renamed "Cursor Enter". All buttons need a similar naming scheme so auto mapping will need to work and so when I get something from a customer, I rename them so the wizard puts the buttons in the right places. Sorry for the confusion. You are right, there is a bug in the config regarding this button, I've fixed it and am posting a new update.

solved in latest release.

Try 0.92, there is no automatic update in the app yet. It will now prompt you for permissions to install the udev rules.

You did! Buttons all work.
So, to summarize, why did the ATV lock out the Skip? I went back to using the Apple TV Gen 4 (media mgr) device code and all buttons map correctly. You may want to add the "unpair" option to this device code for others having the same issue.
Do appreciate the great support in resolving this.
I spent nearly all day on it. But when you told me about your harmony, I started messing around with mine and the original apple tv silver remote. Then I remembered you can pair it. So I tried to figure out what the pair code was for the newer remote models but couldn’t. So I decoded the silver pair remote, and tried to add it to the skip, but it wouldn’t work after a modification.
But then I locked myself out. So I was on to something.
So I finally stumbled on how to unpair a remote and tried that. Yes, I’m definitely adding that along with documentation.
So glad it’s working. Thanks for trying that quickly and helping put this to rest.

I have the Flirc USB up and running with v3.11.0.
I think I got it. Import this.
Map the 'UNPAIR' button to something. Press and hold that until you see your apple tv flash. Then the remote should work. crossing fingers. Let me know.

A few days ago I tried a Harmony 700 IR remote and it worked fine with my ATV (responded to all button presses). For some reason, the Skip is locked out. It would be a major job to reload all the apps if I did a reset. Only have 1 ATV.
"It's gotta be something on their side". Don't disagree with that but why the Logitech works and the Skip doesn't is the question. The fact that it does work with some (or most) ATV's leads to your conclusion that it's something on their side. The issue here is that a majority of users are going to be in same camp as me and won't want to reset their ATV if this does resolve the issue.
Doing a little online research, I believe the ATV can only be paired with one ATV remote at a time. Wondering if maybe the Skip is mimicking a ATV remote and thus locked out. Doesn't explain why some work and others don't, but thought I would throw it out there.
That’s probably it. It was using the harmony and then it’s locked to their ID. Do you have a flirc usb ?

do you have a harmony or any other IR remote that may work on the apple TV?
Do you have more than one appletv? Are you at all open to going to settings and hitting reset. It’s gotta be something on their side.

US, the 4 above. What's odd is that I'm not the only one having this issue. I've played around with all the ATV settings with no change.......Why it works on some boxes and not others is the question of the day.

Yep see that now. I was able to update the app and added the Json files. Tried all with the Apple TV. Unfortunately, same results; ATV blinks when sending commands but nothing happens.
This is crazy, I have about 10 appletv's. Between us, my inlaws I setup, and the office, I've never seen this issue. What the hell is going on.
What Region are you in? (US, EU?)
Which JSON Files did you try? -

@jason, FYI, the U55CV-U didn't work but the other newly added sceptre tv did the trick (X435BV-F, which has 2 entries which appear as duplicates) so I'm all set. So there might be issues in accuracy of these entries but more importantly they work!
TYVM! Remote now in use! Love it! Appreciate the support! You and the team are building such a great and needed product! I love the community engagement! Will recommend!
Awesome, thanks for letting me know about the duplicates, I'll remove those. yes, the U55CV in the database was actually U550CV. Puzzled they didn't work, but I'm certainly glad you found the one that does.
I'm actually going to duplicate the X435BV-F as a U55CV for convenience for future customers.
Thanks again for letting me know. -

Jason, sorry to reply here but not sure where else it should go. As my remote never recovered from the issues I, gelein, and iBobZero have mentioned, how would I go about getting a replacement? Thanks.
PM me, I'll take care of it.

I pulled a bunch of codes from other places, I'm dumping them all here.
There might be some bugs, and because the naming of buttons is using the same as the source, and not our internal, things will not auto-map. But hopefully this does something. Start with the Gen3_v2 and Gen3 files.
Please let me know.
There is also a bug on the import page if you click on an item, it shows the wrong file on the right and you'll eventually crash the app. This is fixed in the latest nightly which I'll probably release tomorrow because it's pissing me off. Here is a copy:http://update.flirc.tv/skipapp/nightly/0.9.92.6338/SkipApp-0.9.92.6338-Nightly-x64.msix?token=skipAppUpdate

Okay, I finally finished a tool to convert those codes into ours. I'm not positive everything is correct, there still might be bugs. Also, I use their button names, so they will probably not automap.
But you can try importing all these codes and letting me know what does/doesn't work. I'd be extremely grateful.Roku - Roku.json Roku - Roku2.json Roku - Roku2_channels.json Roku - Roku3.json Roku - Roku_Alternate.json

I'm not sure if you saw this, but I added something to the GUI, you can already find it in the app, and the file used to create the device is attached for completeness.
But try adding within the app and let us know. -

You can not remove the entries that are added by Flirc. If you do, it's just for the session.
