  1. Looks like it’s working now. No keys are paired. Did you try pairing something with it and running that command again?
  2. Thank you for the quick reply, I really appreciate it! I have to say, Flirc is a brilliant idea and I was thrilled when I found it. Its a very elegant and simple solution. I just tried the command line you suggested, unfortunately it does the same thing as when using the + button in the GUI "full keyboard" controller (the button that has + when shifted and = when not shifted). When VLC is playing a video, pressing the + key on the numeric keypad speeds up the video, but pressing the + key on the main keyboard (with or without the shift key) is always treated as the = key by VLC. Another way I can tell the + key on the numeric keypad is a different code than the + key on the main keyboard (+ and = key): when I open Properties for a Windows shortcut and go to the Shortcut key field and I hit the + key on the numeric keypad, the Shortcut Key field displays "Num +" whereas if I hit the + key on the main keyboard (+ and =) with or without the shift key, the Shortcut Key field displays "Ctrl + Alt + =" I hope all this makes some sense!
  3. Jason, Sorry if this has already been asked I have a new 2019 Shield TV Pro, Harmony Elite Remote, and FLIRC. The Shield is far away from the Harmony hub so the Harmony has a wired IR dongle that is runs to the FLIRC to get commands to it for the Shield. Everything works fine per the FLIRC setup instructions (adding device FLIRC manufacturer and Shield TV model) but the Shield does not turn off with the Harmony. There appears to be a line in the shutdown sequence to shut down the shield but it does not seem to do anything. Also when I look at the commands available to the FLIRC device, there is no power button there. Any advice would be helpful to add the power command to this Harmony "device" would be appreciated. Screenshots from MyHarmony below. Thank you!
  4. To update, as I wait for the beta firmware I was playing around a bit with sendir. While I could successfully send a packet from the flirc and the receiver could pick it up, it would eventually stop working with that packet and I would need to capture a new one in order for it to work again. My guess is this is from the encoding used. The problem is when I was attempting to map Volume Up, Down and Mute on a media remote it eventually stops working. So this option is no good... This is too bad as I purchased a Rii MX3 and MX6 for some testing. The MX6 won't learn anything off the Denon remote while the MX3 will but has far fewer keys to learn IR, ie Volume sent over USB and not IR. It looks like my only option might really be to just use the Denon remote with my HTPC if I truly only want one remote.
  5. Hi ya'll! Just got my Flirc and have already run in to a problem. I am recording commands with the "Full keyboard"-profile since I can get more commands that I actually want for Kodi than with the "Kodi"-profile. The issue I am having tough that the keyboard command for volume down in Kodi is "minus" and I don't know how to get one. When I hover with mouse pointer over the minusbutton in the GUI it says "dash" and Kodi doesn't lower the volume when that is recorded. Any ideas? /Dave
  6. It must be two commands in one... Maybe you can see something in the hex code from the original string. Possibly play acts as an ok command on some apps and a stand alone ok is there somewhere.
  7. That's cool!! Take your time, I can wait, I really just wanted to get the discussion going on the options. I also should add, I am looking into using the sendir option too to just remove the need for the Denon remote. But do we need to decode the signals for this too? (Edit: Nevermind, I messed with it a little more and got sendir to control a couple of functions on my Denon too. Again, this is just one more option for me. Once I get the beta firmware and mess with it I'll decide if I want that over using a completely separate remote to control both.)
  8. @jason thanks for the updates and hard work. I can confirm that I got everything working on my 2019 Nvidia Shield TV Pro with the new updates except for the already mentioned NetFlix button (not a big deal). Also thanks for following up with Logitech although I remembered that I don't use the profiles from Logitech. I have two Flirc in the same room, one for the Shield and a second for an Amazon Fire TV. For this reason I can't use the Logitech profiles as they are effectively the same profile sending the same command so I simultaneously control both devices at the same time (one blindly). This is obviously not the behavior I want so I select two different devices that don't exist in my home. I then use the remote codes from those two devices to program the two Flirc which then independently control the Shield and Fire TV.
  9. NOTE - This firmware has been publicly released, feel free to keep posting feedback here. Firmware v4.8.2 Supports Wake up features with remote buddy Custom single command Multiple buttons ir_transmitter updates, ability to kill a running transmission Possible bug fixes in XMP protocol To update, make sure you have at least GUI version 3.24.2, release date November 19th, 2019 First, backup and save your configuration. Head over to File->Advanced. Check which SKU you have, it should be either dori, or nemo. Then do File->Upgrade and point to one of the images attached. Note - You do not have to quit the remote buddy application to update your firmware. This firmware is only required for sleep/wake functionality extended specifically through remote buddy. Flirc/Remote Buddy 2 support has been baked in and tested since v4.6.x, this update is not necessary to use Flirc with Remote Buddy. Please feel free to report any findings here. Bugs specific to this version of firmware. dori.release-4.8.2.bin nemo.release-4.8.2.bin
  10. Hi @jason I have the same/similar issue. After the update to 3.25 and Firmware 4.9.0 my Flirc v2 has issues. It does not react to any commands. The only thing it reacts to is if i send a command to configure the Flirc in the 3.25 app. Before the update i used 3.20 and Firmware 4.4.2 (if i remember correctly). Another Flirc v2 i'm using and have not updated yet still works. The issues are with the Sunrise UHD Box. Also tried to use the Flirc on a nvidia Shield TV 2017, also no reaction If possible i would appreciate a way to downgrade back to 4.4.2 (Ialready tried to install 3.2.0 Soffware, but then Flirc is not recognised.
  11. Hi All, I have a 2019 NVIDIA Shield and I've gotten most things working except for getting the Circle key to go back to the home screen. Looking at docs, the command is Ctrl-Esc, which is working, but using that is a little messy. Thoughts?
  12. Hello again, I was able to map pretty much all the buttons of the shield remote on my hamony 350 thanks to this thread and others Just noticed that through flirc / harmony it doesn't register keyboard presses when you open up the keyboard to search from the main menu or through the search in Plex for example. It seems the 'ok' button from the shield remote is not the same command as the 'ok' for everything else even though it is the same button on the shield. Quite odd. Do you experience the same issue ? Shield remote or the Android TV phone app can be used as a workaround in the meantime. Bit annoying though to be so close from not needing the original remote.
  13. Thanks Jason. Ok, I got that thanks. It's not that crude really :) It worked ok to make a macro and now (of course) there are more things to get confused over. First snag was that the keyboard didn't do what expected. I paired a Bluetooth keyboard to the TV and tested what each F key does and I expected just to choose the matching key on the Flirc setup to make it do what I wanted. But they were all doing different things when I did that, so I had to just go through each F key and see what it actually did when Flirc plugged into the TV. I found quite a few functions anyway so then I tried to make the macro I wanted and found problem 2. That was that I need a pause command. What I'm trying to do is set up a key that would switch on and off HDR+ mode. (I know it's not useful for most stuff but it looks nice with computer animations and it needs about 20 keypresses to get there.) I found that I can make a macro that will select Picture Mode but then the TV seems to want a second or two to get ready and by that time the rest of the macro that would navigate to the required function has already run. I tried putting in 50 'Space' keys hoping that might force an artificial pause but it didn't work. I read a couple of forum posts and it looks like a 'Pause / Wait' function isn't available. Is that right? Maybe there's a different key that'll take me into the Picture menu, I'll look for that. Thanks for the help with the macro setup, do you have any suggestions about my other snags? Thanks.
  14. Anyone working with sendir at all?
  15. Hi everyone I'm using a shield with hd homerun, and the issue I've been having is my family will leave the tv running when they are done watching. Items I have: Nvidia Shield 2017 model LG TV (model: LB495550-UY) Hd Homerun Prime Harmony 650 Remote Flirc Usb I'm wondering is there a way that will shut the tv down when I turn the nvidia shield off? My tv is a 2015 non smart lg tv that doenst have CEC either, so I'm wondering is FLICR my option? My theory is I could add a Flirc and teach it the TV's power IR command to "stop" or "home", both of which should also stop the HDHomeRun app, and free the tuner. Thanks in advance who can help!
  16. Hello Flirc is receiving a down command every 15 second... in device log : :e:49 0,187 :e:49 0,212 :e:50 0,208 thank you for your help
  17. I used this command in a "cmd windows" to add this key to a button on my Harmony One : flirc_util.exe record_api 0 101 I've explained how I added the "sleep/wake up" on this post I hope it will work for you :)
  18. Hey guys, I've been setting up my parents nVidia Shield 2019 with their Harmony One remote and I've managed to make the Shield go to sleep using Flirc. I've not been using just one IR code profile on the Logitech Harmony Remote Software, but two. I've used the "old" Shield IR profile one for the directions (up, down, left, right, ok, back and home) and media keys (play, stop, rewind, etc...) and for all other commands (custom Kodi commands, F8 in netflix to show informations, etc...) I've used an other profile (because the Shield IR one didn't have enough commands and also because some of them were the same with different names so one would be erasing the other). I used a Yamaha Amplifier for the other profile because my parents don't own any Yamaha product so there was no chance of conflict. The command in Flirc I used to go to sleep is the Power button in the "Media Keys" section (set up to a command in the other IR profile). The "ok" button in the Shield IR profile was used to wake up the shield. So, for each device (Shield & Yamaha) in the Harmony Software I made these advanced changes : Shield device : "Ok" to power on, "no button" to power down Yamaha device : "no button" to power up, "the command I chose" to power down This way I created an "Watch Shield" activity which used 4 devices : My parents TV Their amplifier Shield device Yamah device And everything works like a charm. I also managed to find the "settings" button in the Shield remote. It's the "Application" (or "Menu") on a Windows keyboard (I plugged a USB keyboard in the Shield to test each key). Since Flirc doesn't propose it in the "Full Keyboard" profile, I set it up to one button on my harmony using this command : flirc_util.exe record_api 0 101 (101 being the HID code for the "Application" key on a keyboard) I haven't search the Netflix button because my parents don't care using the menu to access it.
  19. I connected a keyboard to the new Nvidia Shield TV Pro to see if I could discover any new or unknown keyboard shortcuts for the Nvidia Shield TV Pro. I discovered that the PrtScn (PrintScreen) key takes a screenshot. I figured this may be useful to have on my remote at some point so I went to record it using the Flirc GUI. However I then discovered that the Flirc GUI full keyboard is missing the Print Screen key. However I then found the above post to try to get around this problem only to discover that the link to the reference is broken. I dug around a bit at the site and found the updated link for the reference: https://www.usb.org/sites/default/files/documents/hut1_12v2.pdf From there I assume that I can record the Print Screen button using the following command: flirc_util.exe record_api 0 70 I will give this a try later on to see if it works.
  20. Yes, it would be nice to get the Setting button to work. Granted, I don't see a need to have a dedicated button just to go to Settings. However, the Shield allows you to change what the Settings button does, so if you use it to do something else, the Settings button would be good to have. It would also be nice if the Shield allowed a way to redefine the Netflix button (and the Flirc had a way of sending the "Netflix" command). Don't know why Netflix needs its own button as opposed to just calling it something generic and letting the user define what it does.
  21. Thanks for the reply. I was able to do pretty much exactly what you did after doing some more research. For power on, I just set my Harmony to send the "ok" command after turning everything on. This wakes the Shield. It goes to sleep on it's own. When I turn everything off, I have the "home" command sent so it will be on the home screen when it wakes next time. Only thing I wish I had was the setting button. But I can still get there using the arrows for now.
  22. I had to go over the Flirc documentation and other Flirc forum threads. The Flirc documentation made it seem a lot simpler than it was, but various commands were missing when I only followed the Flirc doc, so I had to define commands using 3 different controllers in the Flirc software. As discussed in the doc & other forum threads, it doesn't matter what remote IR commands you use, as long as they are not used for any other devices in your system. I used the old NVIDIA Shield IR codes. I have a Pronto remote, so I was able to copy-and-paste the old NVIDIA Shield codes posted online to my Pronto, and then I used my Pronto to "teach" the commands to the Flirc. My primary purpose of using Shield TV is for Plex, so I focused on making the commands work for Plex. Below are the Controllers and commands (in Flirc and the corresponding old NVIDIA Shield IR code) that I used with the Flirc software (again, it doesn't matter what IR codes that you use, but for me, I decided to use the old NVIDIA IR codes): Controllers->NVIDIA Shield: =============-======== Flirc Old Nvidia Shield IR Code ===== ===================== Cursor Keys Cursor Keys Select Ok Back Last Home Shield (other option was Menu). This command seems to take you to home page, as expected. Controllers->Kodi: ============== Flirc Old Nvidia Shield Code ======== ================= Numeric keys Numeric Keys (0 to 9) <= these actually work for entering in a search window. in the future, consider trying to do alphabet, if it's worth it. ch+/ch- ch+/ch- <= these behave like cursor up/down. Don't know what scenarios ch+/ch- are useful in. May not be needed? Play Play Pause Pause Shutdown Power On. Although this command is called "Shutdown" in Flirc software, using this command actually turns on the Shield. This command does NOT turn off the Shield. *Info Display (I used an Oppo IR code for this) <= doesn't seem to do anything. *Caption Subtitle (I used an Oppor IR code for this) <= doesn't seem to do anything Controllers->Media Keys: ====================== Flirc Old Nvidia Shield Code ======== ================= **Rewind Rewind (aside: I believe cursor key left can also be used for Rewind, at least in Plex). **Forward Forward (aside: I believe cursor key right can also be used for Forward, at least in Plex). **Stop Stop ** Note: the Rewind and Forward keys work when paired under Controllers->Media Keys, but don't work when I paired Rewind and Forward under Controllers->Kodi. Note: Flirc Previous and Next do not work, whether paired under Controllers->Kodi or Controllers->Media Keys. As indicated above, I got Power On to work. I don't have a way to Power Off the Shield. But not a big deal, since my Shield will sleep automatically after 20 minutes (user-configurable) of non-use. I'd rather have a discrete Power On than a Power toggle, since it makes remote macros more reliable. The Shield OEM remote also has a settings button on the upper right of the remote. I don't know how to teach Flirc this command, but not a big deal since settings is not used frequently and is easily accessed with cursor keys. However, having this command would be useful if the button is reconfigured to do something else other than settings (such as starting a favorite app). I also don't have a Flirc command to go with the Netflix command in the OEM remote. But, not a big deal. Kind of strange that Netflix has its own button in the OEM remote. Should have just been made an anything you want command changeable from Settings. Netflix can always be brought up using cursor keys from home page. Note: before using Flirc, I had plugged in a USB keyboard to the Shield TV to see what keyboard mappings might be useful, but I didn't see any potentially useful commands over and beyond what was mentioned above (if anyone knows any keyboard commands that might be useful, let me know... I recently read that F8 may be useful to get Netflix info while Netflix is playing, but I haven't tried it). I wish there was some sort of Info command which can be used to bring up Info on the Plex movie that is playing (such as codec, etc.), similar to what can be done when using an embedded Plex Media Player in Linux. If anyone has other commands not mentioned above, or better ways to configure Flirc, let me know.
  23. I have the same issue. Using the new 2019 Nvidia Shield Pro/Flirc/Harmony Elite remote. There is no power toggle command that I can use to put the shield to sleep but the new Shield remote has a single power button on it. In the MyHarmony app I have a "Flirc" device with the "Shield TV" model number. Please add a power button to the available commands. Thanks
  24. Is it possible to define a discrete power on command, so that if the Shield is off/asleep, the power on command wakes it up, but if the Shield is already on, the power on command won't affect whatever the Shield is doing (for example, if it's currently playing a movie, the power on command won't interrupt it)?
  25. Fix Bricked Flirc (Alternate Firmware fix) after 3.24.0 Install (with Linux) Like many on here I updated to 3.24.0 in Windows it attempted to update the Firmware and bricked my Flirc Tried the Usual Fixes: The Zadig Manual Firmware Fix did not Work. Also the Use of the 1.44 FLIRC in conjunction with new version fix to reflash did not work. -- What I had to do was Download and install Ubuntu on a another pc and ReFlash From There. Linux is a lil more "flexible" and can recognize just about anything device wise even broken devices. -- What you’ll need: A 4-8GB Flash Drive or blank CD preferably 2GB or more A Spare junk PC that you can install Ubuntu onto Kubuntu Iso: https://kubuntu.org/getkubuntu/ Rufus( USB flash Tool): https://github.com/pbatard/rufus/releases/download/v3.8/rufus-3.8.exe IMGBURN if you use a disc Imgburn: https://ninite.com/imgburn/ or go to official site -- Steps: Download some flavor of Linux that is easy enough for you For this case lets use kubuntu as its pretty windows user friendly: https://kubuntu.org/getkubuntu/ Download the ISO file Flash the ISO onto a usb flash drive using rufus or CD using IMGBURN Open either tool locate the file where ever you save it and flash / burn it Rufus may tell you it needs additional files to create the bootable accept the terms and let it install them Take out Completed Flash or CD and place it in your Junk PC *warning this will wipe everything on that old machine before installation of ubuntu* Boot Directly to the Flash Drive or CD ( tap f10 or f12, thinkvantage button, etc or whatever gets you boot menu when you first turn on the pc or laptop). Alternatively boot to bios if you know how and set the flash drive as first boot device. Remember to change this back after install is complete to your primary Hard Drive. Install KUBUNTU (installation is straightforward just read and follow prompts for user, time zone, and keyboard setup) Use a simple password for the first run (you can change it later) Get to the Desktop Hit the Start button bottom right Open Terminal Type Sudo su (this is to get the terminal in root mode (similar to run as admin in Windows) It will ask for password you made for the PC Type it in The terminal will now say root and your user Type sudo apt-get update This will update all your current repositories on the machine Next we need to download the archive aka (zip file on windows) for Flirc on Linux Were gonna grab the 64 bit Archive from here(https://flirc.tv/ubuntu-software-installation-guide) as we installed KUBUNTU 64 bit Download it Make a new folder in your home folder and copy the two files out (flirc and flircutil) of the archive into it We need one more file 99-flirc.rules which doesn’t come in the zip file we downloaded earlier We need to create this file Open Kate (aka notepad) on Kubuntu (it’s a text editor) Create a file called 99-flirc.rules and save to your home folder File > Save AS > Home > 99-flirc.rules Go back to the Terminal Window you have open If you closed it open terminal again and sudo su you will be at your home folder again in the terminal Confirm 99-flirc.rules can be seen by typing DIR (dir lists all files in the folder your in the terminal (aka command prompt) your in It will show you all the files in your home folder by name Run the following command: CP 99-flirc.rules /etc/udev/rules.d/ CP means copy this will copy 99-flirc.rules to the folder it needs to be in (/etc/udev/rules.d/) Now we need to install all the dependencies needed to launch the flirc executable that are listed here on bottom( in instructions) separated by spaces (https://flirc.tv/ubuntu-software-installation-guide): Many of them will be installed already But you may have to install them one by one to check: For each one we will do the following: Sudo apt-get update Sudo apt-get install (dependency name) Some will not work and you will have to do some research to find out their correct name For example: how to install x on Ubuntu in google ( they will take you to threads and give you their correct or working repository names so you can install them via terminal) Lets do first one as example: Sudo apt-get update Sudo apt-get install libhidapi-hidraw0 It will tell you that it may already be installed which is fine Continue to install all the dependencies (you will get Y or n prompts when you install hit Y to install) For any of the dependencies that has a qt in the name in the dependencies . These 3 commands should install most of the qt dependencies: sudo apt install build-essential sudo apt install qtcreator sudo apt install qt5-default those 3 commands basically install qt5 and makes it default which will help us install some of the needed dependencies in the list *info only: Steps for QT5 Install taken from here: https://www.lucidar.me/en/dev-c-cpp/how-to-install-qt-creator-on-ubuntu-18-04/ *info only* Once all the dependencies are installed (remember to check one by one) go back to the flirc folder in your home folder and right click > actions > run in Konsole This will launch flirc elevated and you will see flirc open in a gui window that your used to Attached your bricked flirc and it will be reflashed and showup connected. (try a couple diff usbs if its not showing) preferably a 2.0 port (black) Wait 30 secs, jump for joy, take your flirc out and bring it back to your windows machine Close flirc if its open in windows and reopen Optionally: Close Flirc GUI, Uninstall Flirc, Restart, Reinstall Flirc. Insert Flirc Should now show connected and happy Done -- Additionally you can create a desktop shortcut to flirc if you want: go in flirc folder drag flirc to desktop you will be prompted with three options Choose Link Here Option (it creates a "symlink" to the file which basically gives you a desktop shortcut) Done Hope this helps someone as it was a lifesaver for me.
