I’ve finally gotten this to work by choosing Formuler brand, model S Turbo Hybrid IPTV Receiver (Set Top Box). Only 2 buttons work from the get go but you can go into edit buttons and set everything else up.  Just wanted to update if anyone else needed the info.  Thank you.

    Thanks for the info!

That's good to know. I don't have one of those units so I hope one of those is compatible with my Zappiti Neo (One of the newer DV series units).

If it isn't, we'll definitely work with you to add support.

    Installed the latest beta tonight.

    Sony TV 85x950g works

    Marantz AVR AV10 working

Flirc USB is working to control Kodi.  Everything but a back button works.  Cannot launch Kodi, no button for it?  Cannot move the mouse with the remote either.

So for me, 3 things to make life wonderful.

Control the mouse, launch Kodi and a Kodi back button

Back button likely just needs setting up, either from the Skip App or FLIRC USB App or both. Launching Kodi is something you'd have to do from your ... whatever device you're using to run Kodi. Same with anything involving mouse control.

The name stands for Forever lirc or something like that right? :P
I run libreelec and have the flirc usb attached anyway i just wanted to play around with it.

The thing I cant figure out is how to turn on the nuc with its built in ir port. The nuc supports power on from S5 via CIR so it should work but doesnt for some reason. I have wake from s5 via CIR enabled in the bios but no luck so far. Hard to tell if the remote sends the wrong codes or the nuc just doesnt care for some reason, this needs some more digging. I tried all the microsoft entries but no luck. Power from usb should also work i guess, is this possible with the flirc usb?

Another thing i'm trying to change is that the kodi power down action only opens the shutdown context menu in kodi, is there a way to imediately shut down without the menu?
Probably some kodi setting i assume?

Do you have a remote that currently can power the nuc on and off? I'm not really super familiar with out that would work in the first place. Regarding wake from USB, here's a thread with some info.

I had major connection issues.  Finally rebooted my Win 11 PC and the app saw my remote.  Now the software does not see my Marantz AV10 pre/pro, nor does it work with Kodi that I am able to figure out.

Can it work with a PC Kodi software?

    Need some clarification.

When you say the software doesn't "see" your Marantz, do you mean you don't see it in the list? If so, that's current intended behavior. Under model, you can try selecting from the list and use the test button to see if it turns your Marantz on and off. You might check under Audio and A/V, there are different models in each category.

Kodi is software. You need to select something hardware-based that Kodi is running on. For example, if you are using the Flirc USB to control Kodi, you can search for a Flirc USB. What are you currently using to control Kodi?

    Thanks, Jason!

Possible dumb question here @jason, but was the 1s supposed to include a USB dongle? Mine didn't come with one and I was thinking it would, but maybe I just misunderstood.

Need a bit of clarification here. The Skip 1s comes with a usb cord to connect to your computer. It does not come with a Flirc USB, unless you ordered one with the Flirc USB. If you did and didn't get it, let us know.

I have set mine up so "A" is running my Samsung TV, and B is running my Kodi setup which is running an Intel NUC (11th Gen) with the FLIRC USB plugged into the front USB-A port. Setting up the remote in the Skip App to run Kodi on the NUC via the PC/Media PC option doesn't do anything, and using the FLIRC USB app has been pretty fidgety. Sometimes it will pick up commands from my remote, sometimes not; sometimes I have to hold a button down for ~2 seconds to get it to record, and then when I use the remote to try and manipulate Kodi, it does nothing or I have to hold a button; the down button let's say, and it will take 2 seconds in between each time it will move the UI as expected, but this is very slow and tedious. So far this remote is a $50 paper weight.

It should not have any trouble picking up commands and it certainly shouldn't take holding down a button and waiting 2 seconds for the UI to move. @jason is the expert on the Flirc USB, but it sounds like something in your room is creating IR interference. On A, is the Samsung TV working correctly?

Okay, great. Because I know many other universal remotes have issues with replicating Lutron's Pico remote for some reason. I guess the Skip 1s has solved that issue?

This, I could not tell you. I don't have an IR Lutron switch to test against. With that said, I'm sure if there were problems we'd be happy to work with you to try to solve them. The Flirc USB is designed to read IR codes, and we've been able to use it already to fix several tricky issues. Also the Skip remote itself has an IR reader which will eventually be able to do the same thing.

So I tried lowering LED brightness for my remote over the weekend in the LEDs section of the app, I put it down to 25% instead of 100%. This didn't seem to mitigate the issue with swapping back to activity A for me. Also, I think maybe someone mentioned this elsewhere, but it doesn't appear that changing the brightness setting actually does change the physical brightness, it seems the same.

Yep, we're working on a firmware update for this.

  10. On the bottom right of the app is a 3 dot icon. Click that, click Settings, and then change Screen Resolution from Regular to Compact. This should work in both Windows and Mac.

If you can't actually access that button, that could definitely be a problem we need to address.

Thanks. It would be good to know ahead of time so a request to add a certain remote could be done. My tv, 4K UHD player and av receiver are all pretty common brands (LG, Panasonic & Yamaha) so not to worried about those. I have a Zappiti Neo set top media player and I fear that one may not be on your list. It seems I can't do much with the software until I have the remote in hand so it does not do me much good.

    Does the skip support Zappiti?

    Looks like it does.

Is it possible to control Lutron IR switches using the Skip 1s? I know that the Lutron IR switches are controlled by their Pico remote, but it would be awesome to be able to have the Skip 1s turn on/off the lights and dim them rather than needing to have a second remote to do that.

    If it's IR, yes.

Update: I have the Skip controlling the FireTV stick now. The issue was the stick is plugged into the back of my receiver and the ir signals weren't getting through. I've plugged it into the aux HDMI port on the front of the Denon and it works fine. I won't be able to leave it there for aesthetic reasons, but I'm going to have to figure out a solution.

Unfortunately as both the FireTV and Nvidia Shield both have Flircs plugged in it seems all commands are received by both devices no matter which one I want to control. I have a sneaky feeling this is something I can't avoid (unless there's a way to have one flirc device controlled via different signals than the other?) and I might have to reconsider using the Skip as my living room remote and just it in the bedroom.

Sidenote, the Denon x1500h receiver control seems very flaky. Sometimes it turns on, sometimes it doesn't. Volume control seems to work well but most other button presses do not.

If they're both using Flircs, there's a simple enough work around. Set one of them on the Skip app to some device you don't have, like maybe an Xbox or some obscure European TV or something. Then train that Flirc USB to use those commands instead of the defaults.

Thanks for your reply. It's entirely possible I missed it. I did think the FireTV might be listed under set top box, I know it's not a "box" but to my thinking it performs the same function. I read in a post somewhere on the forum that the flirc devices were plug and play, so I wondered if maybe I wouldn't have to select a mapping option via the flirc software. I did it anyway though haha.

    Thanks again.

Check out the download from that post. I think it should be showing up in that beta.

edit: Checked. It looks like it's under TV/Projector

    Hello!

I recently received my 1s but none of the code groups are working for the Element Amazon Fire TV Edition nor for the JBL Cinema SB350 sound bar. The app test does work with my Apple TV but that's the only device so far that is responding to the test. I have the app installed on a MacBook, I can try to test on my Windows PC that's upstairs if needed.

What brand and models did you select for them?

I've recevied my Skip 1 and it seems my experience is more stable that most.

While the other devices work well the Humax FVP-5000T is sluggish - the buttons all work but they can't be pressed in quick succession.  If you're trying to navigate the TV guide you have to pause for a few seconds between each button press and even then the input is ignored at times.

Has anyone else experienced this?  I can help debug this as I've got the original remote and a Flirc so I can recored the original IR.  I'm happy to check the recorded codes vs. the database if there's a way to get the codes out of the database in a suitable format (since this seems to be all buttons not just specific ones so it could take some time.)

    Thanks!

If you have a flirc, can you open the Flirc app, open the Device Log, and enable IR Debugging. Then record your original remote. In particular, record the same button pressed a few times. Then paste the output in a txt file with a note saying which codes go with which button. Then upload here.

Going through the app this morning, it only lists two Sonos soundbars (arc and playbase, I believe), missing a bunch-- the beam gen1, beam gen2, and ray. The arc setting probably works, I can't test due to either USB-C or the broken windows software

Xbox is similar, it only lists Xbox One not Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X. The Xbone setting probably works, but that's confusing for users and just generally feels like a beta product. I suggest changing to "Microsoft Xbox (One X/S and Series X/S)".

I replied in another thread, but yep, this is something we're going to start working on.

Is there a location to post/ upvote feature requests?  As far as I can see right now they're scattered in posts - I'd like to +1 the ones I'm interested in (since other people beat me to them!)

Not right now. At the moment we're working through a bunch of updates that are essentially "must haves" in order to move out of beta. It's likely a few of those you'd +1 are the same ones we would! :)

    Hi guys,

How is the shipping going, when should we expect to get any update ?

We've actually slowed shipping to deal with a pretty big windows bug that's causing the remote to disconnect. I believe we're getting to a fix, and which point we'll start ramping up shipping again.
