March 13, 20251 yr comment_40130 I'm having issues with my first foray into Flirc... Windows 11, Flirc Gen 2, Skip 1s remote (the Skip 1s works flawlessly with TV and other IR devices, no issues there). I have the Flirc USB to go in an Nvidia Shield. Downloaded and installed Flirc USB software on PC. Plugged Flirc into PC USB port, recognised by software, updated firmware successfully. Flirc logs show nothing of interest (screenshot attached to show IR debugging enabled). I choose a controller Choose a button to map (or click go on minimalist), confirm the button starts flashing and says "Press the button to be paired with..." Press buttons on remote, nothing happens. I've tried multiple remotes, multiple USB ports, have clear line of sight between Flirc USB and remote, but no matter what I do the Flirc never seems to receive an IR signal. This is upsetting and I'm sorry to hear about it. Can we do a quick test. Close the GUI, and then fire up command prompt, and do the following: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Flirc\flirc util.exe" unit test What is the result? Report

March 23, 20251 yr comment_40286 I am having the same issue as the OP, no response to IR from my brand new (from Amazon) Flirc USB 2nd gen. I have a Gen1 that I have been using for years, so I tried uploading an old config to the Gen2 and it seemed to work, but then became unresponsive after a couple of minutes. Now it seems to be completely dead. I forced a firmware upgrade via "Advanced" in the GUI and it downgraded the fw, still doesn't work. Here are the results of flirc_util.exe, first without the flirc connected to the PC, then with. Thank you for any help you can provide! March 23, 20251 yr Author comment_40288 I got mine replaced by Amazon and the new one simply worked. Jason kindly offered to arrange a return/replacement but given I'm in the UK it was just quicker and easier to do an Amazon return. Report

I thought since my symptoms were a bit different than yours that maybe Jason could offer an easy fix. He'll probably respond tomorrow and we'll see. Report
March 24, 20251 yr comment_40303 Oops, I think I messed up. I forgot to include the "unit test" at the end of the command. I will have to re-run it when I get home tonight. Sorry about that Jason! Report

June 9, 20251 yr comment_41152 Just posting to add that I've experienced exactly the same issue, again with an old Flirc 2.0 that I hadn't used for some time. Same unit test failure, exactly the same symptoms as above. I've already ordered a replacement from Amazon, just posting here in case the data point is useful. Report

April 14Apr 14 comment_43443 Been trying to get FLIRC to work for the past 2 days now. Just found this forum and ran the unit_test. Getting "FLIRC Not Okay". Seems that I have a bad unit too. Went to the Amazon FLIRC page and the units are no longer listed on Amazon for purchase. Can I infer, that there is a QC issue happening with these units? I would like a working one, can I send this in and get a replacement? Stephen. Report
