Note that while those devices weren't listed, the Xbox One, Sonos Arc, and a bunch of generic "LG TV" codes were in there and my guess is they would probably work. I can't test it due to either USB-C or the Windows software issue.

Pretty much this. Almost every brand reuses codes over and over again. Because this picking of group codes is clearly uncomfortable for a lot of people, we're looking into solutions to match specifically with exact models.

So, in my own use case of trying to set up the Skip remote with my Flirc USB that is plugged into a Chromecast with Google TV...what is the intended procedure at this point? @jason You say we should be able to do all setup only within the Skip App and not bother with the Flirc USB app, but if that's the case, how would the Flirc USB know what signal to send to the device its connected to? Right now when I set up a device on my Skip as a Media Center PC with Kodi (same as @worksonmybox ), none of the commands do anything. I haven't yet tried reconfiguring the Flirc USB though.

Also please feel free to ignore this question for now if you need to Jason as I know you have a ton on your plate at the moment with other issues!

Flirc USB has some specific configurations already built in and shouldn't need the Flirc app to setup. That should include both Kodi and Google TV (via the NVIDIA Shield controller). Personally, I ignore that and still setup the Flirc USB because I like complete control over the process, but it's up to you.

If you have setup the Skip app to send Kodi Flirc USB signals, make sure those Kodi buttons have been dragged onto your remote from the Buttons Panel in the Skip App. See attached image.image.png

  3. Not right now. Currently the only way to switch activity is by hitting the activity buttons. We do plan on eventually supporting state awareness and sending commands based on state (so if you turned on the TV and are on HDMI1 and just want to switch to HDMI 2 for activity B, we'd only send the HDMI input button), but that's not available yet. It'll also likely be done with the activity buttons, not others on the remote.

  4. Regarding guides, yes:

It sounds as though not all the power up and power down buttons for your devices have been dragged onto the Skip Remote in the Skip App. If that's the case, see:

    Same question.

Based on what I can gather, you have to power off the current activity and then hit the next activity (A, B, or C) then power that on.

If there is a way to switch between activities without having to power off the TV, that'd be similar to how harmony works.

You are exactly right. Though you do have the option of making another unused button a second switcher. So for example on Activity B, you could use the number 2 on the numpad as a switch for hdmi 2

I finally got V 0.9.4 installed and running after resetting permissions in WindowsApps folder to default.

Q: After selecting my first "A" Activity "Watch TV", the GUI goes to "These devices will be used in your activity" and "Press continue...."

Problem: the screen shows no devices nor any way to add them.  (see screen shot)

That Add Device button there in the middle of the screen isn't working?

Hi there. I recently got my Skip 1s and all is going well, except the current activity sometimes swaps back to A for no apparent reason. This is a bit annoying and what's more there is no clear timeout period or anything (happens every few minutes to an hour or more), it just seems to randomly do it. Is this intentional? If so what's the trigger?

    Thanks for the help.

Definitely not intentional. This was happening with one of the development remotes, but not any of the others, and I believe at the time we thought it was just a glitch on that remote. This is a tricky one to fix, because as you said, there doesn't seem to be a clear pattern, so it's hard to recreate and test against, but we'll get working on it. If anyone with this problem can reliably reproduce it, please let us know, as that will help a lot in getting it fixed.

Is there a technical reason why the activity buttons can't be used with macros? It seems, to me, more friendly to tell my partner that, to watch TV, "press the A button" instead of "press the A button, then press this other button".

Can I program the power button by pressing the power button? If I follow your example, I press the A button, then pressed the Power Button to turn everything on, can that then re-program the Power Button to turn everything off on the next press? Or do I need to have a different button to turn every thing on? Though now that I look at it, does the Skip1 keep track of the power states of the devices?

I hope you change your mind with macros on the activities because it really does make the remote more intuitive to use. I've used two remotes to control my entertainment center (in the last 20 years), the first the RadioShack RS2117 (with some JP1 modding); and then the Harmony Companion/Hub. Having the macro on the Activity button made it a much easier user experience. People just picked up the remote, pressed one button, and were watching TV.

This is being requested enough that we'll likely make adding buttons to the activity buttons an option in the future. It IS technically possible, it's just we only have so many developer hours a day. :) I believe right now the priority list is getting Windows as stable as possible, then making it possible for the Skip to learn a remote by "listening" when another remote is pointed at it, then activity button work (both this request and making 6 or more activities possible).

I do have one feature request for SkipApp. Please add a menu to switch between different remote profiles, as in Living Room Remote, Bedroom Remote, Family Room Remote, Office Remote, etc. I'm using it on my Mac Mini M1 and don't see a way to switch at this time.

Your profile will switch depending on which is plugged in. You can also manually switch by going to the Remote Manager page. Top right corner, click the remote icon. List of remotes is on the left.

I was looking at it backwards. The Flirc receiver interprets the remote buttons into the keystrokes I desired.

Sorry about this public display of confusion.

No problem. The Flirc USB is always a little bit tricky to wrap one's mind around. I've explained it to my family about 500 times, and I think they still don't really get it. :)

Hi, any news about an integration of AV switches, in my case "FeinTech VAX04101A HDMI eARC Pass Switch 4x1". Or is it possible to teach Skip1 the keys of the Feintech remote in the meantime?

Sounds like that's probably going to be either the first or one of the first new features rolling out, purely because it'll make setting up the remote so much easier for people. Too many problems with people having trouble finding the right product.
