  1. The answer to both kickstarter and pre-order shipments is pretty much the same.

In January we had to halt the shipping and building of pre-orders for a while due to a bug in Windows caused by Steam that was causing many remotes to fail to connect for setup, and we were uncertain whether the bug was in Windows or in the remote. While we've cleared up that issue and resumed shipping, this has pushed back pre-order fulfillment, as we had to reserve a new build time in the factory and are at the mercy of our supplier. When we receive the newly built shipment, we'll post an update on our forum.

Okay. The button is not missing, LED on the Vu+ Box is indicating that it gets a signal, but no reaction. So I recorded the Cursor Up button, but it is different every time I hit the button? No idea how this works, but I assume this is correct...

I can confirm that this is the right button for Uno 4K (not SE) and Solo SE (V1)... so maybe you could copy a working profile and just change the cursor up?
(But I think this would be right for all working profiles)

Working profiles for Uno 4K (not SE) and Soloe SE (V1): Most Models, Solo 4K, Solo SE V2, Ultimo 4K, Ultimo/Duo2/Solo2, Uno 4K SE, Zero 4 K
Not working at all: Duo+, Uno and Duo

Sorry, let me make sure I understand. So is there a model where cursor up does work, it's just not the one where all the other buttons work? If that's the case, you can add both models to your activity, and drag and drop for that one button.

My remote seems to somewhat randomly switch back to activity A. I switch to activity B and at some point without me pressing any of the activity buttons it switches back to activity A. I would assume once I select an activity it should stay in that activity until I press another one shouldn’t it?

Currently I can reliably reproduce this by pressing activity B. Waiting until the light goes out and then pressing the LED button to light up the ring, this shows activity B as expected. Once the ring goes out if I press the LED button again it now lights up activity A instead.

Have you upgraded to the most recent firmware? This should have been fixed in that one.

I had my Skip App set for nightly builds, and in the build a night or two ago I could no longer search for devices. I was trying to add an Apple TV. It looked like the interface for device searching had been updated, but when I typed in Apple, nothing would show up. I switched back to 0.9.66 and it was fixed.

Could be a known issue, or a hiccup with whatever API or data source you're using, but just thought I'd mention it.

We are getting ready to completely replace those search boxes with a better version of the search tool. Not sure if that's been merged into the beta yet. I'm gonna move this over to the beta subforum to make sure eyes are on it.

  5. Pretty much all or most Skips set for February shipping have gotten delayed due to the pause. We're rushing to get the next round built and shipped. We should have an update when we're ready to send more out again.

Finally what other ways can the community help you, to help us.

For example, I don't think anyone expects you to buy and have access to every single remote, so providing the tools for us to help capture those remotes that are in the wild would be so useful (for both sides) but agree there would need to be a sign off process to confirm if things are done right.  I purchased up a usb module with my remotes for that very idea.

This ability is actually built into the Skip and is part of the planned upcoming updates, just not ready for prime time yet.

You can actually also capture using a Flirc USB with IR Debugging turned on. It's awkward to use though and not everyone has a Flirc USB, so it's not always something we push.

Thanks for the suggestions! The team is quite tiny at the moment, so we don't really have a standardized development and release cycle built up yet, but as we grow, I think your suggestions are absolutely a great way to go.

I am trying to get used to how this remote works but this one has me stumped. I have one activity configured to watch TV. The Power On macro powers on my amp and TV and switches the inputs to the correct ones. The Power Off sequence powers off the amp and TV.

Pretty much all of the time I try to power off the activity it powers it on instead. I'll power on normally, watch an hour or two, then press the power button on the remote to shut off everything. Instead, it tries powering on everything again and switches the inputs again, after which I have to press the button a second time for it to actually power off.

What is the logic behind how the power button works? I haven't even switched activities. I powered on everything to start with and it did that properly. Why does the remote apparently forget that power on was the last command the power button sent and does not power off the activity the next time I press the power button? I would think this is one of the very basic things the remote should be able to do. Remembering the state of the one activity I powered on and knowing to power off when I press the button an hour later should be very straightforward, so why doesn't it do that properly?

I believe this is a bug in the firmware. Someone else has noticed it as well and reported it in another forum post. It should indeed remember your powered on state. I notified Jason and we should be able to look into it soon.

  8. @userdude Ok. With regard to the Flirc USB, you should actually be able to File -> Clear Configuration, and that will solve a lot of problems. The Flirc is built already knowing some codes. If you clear the configuration on the Flirc, and then program the Skip 1s in the Skip App to work with Flirc - NVIDIA Shield, the Flirc USB should just work, no programming in the flirc app needed.

Regarding the other two devices, if you have a Flirc USB and the original remotes, we can record those remotes and create profiles for them. To do so, open the Flirc app, then File - Device Log. Then enable IR Debugging. Then go through and record each button and save the output as a text file with each button press labeled. Each button press will look something like:

    +9051 -4416 +605 -511 +601 -1625 +606 -1626 +605 -1621 +605 -511 +605 -1625 +605 -1622 +609 -1621 +605 -1626 +605 -1626 +605 -1621 +606 -510 +605 -519 +597 -510 +606 -510 +605 -1622 +605 -511 +605 -1625 +605 -511 +605 -1622 +605 -510 +606 -510 +605 -513 +603 -510 +605 -507 +605 -511 +605 -1626 +606 -510 +601 -1626 +605 -511 +605 -1622 +605 -511 +554

    -41

    +9055 -2182 +554

We can turn that into pronto codes and get you a fully working remote. Eventually, this will all be automated and part of the Skip App, but we're not there yet.

Unfortunately, the remote seems to have a terrible memory for states. Powering on an activity works fine but then if I try to power off the same activity an hour later (without switching activities at all), it still tries to power on instead of powering off. I have to press the power button a second time to get the power off sequence. I have no idea why the remote forgets it powered on the activity so quickly and I'm really disappointed in that.

This should not be the case. @jason seems we have a firmware issue

    Hi,

Would like to echo this request. A better solution would be to create a "Device Management" tab where you can store default layout profiles of specific devices (i.e. TVs, streaming boxes, receivers etc). And to select from this preset list when creating activities. After all, it's going to be a fixed device pool.

Also, would be good if there can be a full display of remote functionality codes when selecting the device group. For now its against generic naming conventions (Group 1, 2) so some guesswork is needed on which code profile suits best. Although I understand the remote database will include specific model convention going forward?

Excellent idea on the first part. We're going through designs right now on how to better handle existing configurations. Will suggest mocking up something like that to the designers.

Regarding part two, I believe the eventual plan is to turn the Testing option in the wizard into the ability to scroll the entire button list and test every button. This should get you what you're looking for, code-wise. Further, our ultimate goal is to make most of this incredibly simple with just remote lookup, so you don't have to do any guessing at all.

Sorry for being vague - i'm using the skip with line of site until i get it to work. Then i'll want to get an IR Repeater that works with it (if you have a suggestion that would be great).

For the shield, the USB port is back. I've tried pointing the skip at it from the back and the shield still does not respond. My receiver does not respond either. The tv is the only one that works.

    Cheers.

You've mentioned the USB port a few times. Is the Shield being controlled with a Flirc USB?

It’s not working like I’m used to with the harmony.Even when I map power to an activity, the tv forgets and goes out of sync with my amp, then I press the power button again and the tv comes on, by the amp goes off.Hopefully this will be resolved further down the line, as the remote is unusable for me at the moment (I do appreciate the hard work, I know it’ll be fixed eventually).

It shouldn't forget. Is the TV going to sleep in power saving mode or something to get it out of sync?

Sorry for the delay as i've been away. I have the NVIDIA SHIELD TV PRO from 2019. I've been using my logitech harmony remote with it using the harmony IR blasters. The device resides in my AV closet along with my receiver. I have plugged the usb into the back of the device. I feel like i will need to purchase something else but not sure what that else is at this tim.

Ah, OK. Yeah, the Skip needs line of sight. There are IR repeaters out there that could help with this.

I tried again, with most Vu+ profiles all buttons work, except the cursor up. Two of the profiles don't work at all, with both my set-top-boxes.

Is there a way I could figure out where the problem is? I have the original remotes and an old Flirc USB-receiver.

If you have an old Flirc USB, we can record the missing button. Open the Flirc app. Hit File > Device Log. Tick the "Enable IR Debugging." Then point the old remote at it and hit the button. Save that to a txt file and attach it here.

I'm really looking forward to when we add learning support, so this isn't so cumbersome. :)

I have a Cocktail Audio X45 Pro (by Novatron). It is a music server and DAC (for Audiophiles).

How can I get support for this device (remote) and how is the support file downloaded into the Skip?

    Thanks Adrian

Please post your device in the Supported Devices subforum. https://forum.flirc.tv/index.php?/forum/101-supported-devices-databases/

You can learn how to add the support file in the first pinned post there.

  16. This is unfortunately a tricky question to answer right now. Back in January and early Feb, we had to put a pause on building remotes until we cleared up the Windows connection bug, because we weren't sure if it was a Windows error or a Skip error. We eventually figured out it was a Windows problem and were able to resume shipping and building, but that pause pushed back new builds at the factory. Since we don't have complete control over how quickly Skips get built at the factory (and we're not a massive company like Apple who can force them to hurry), we can't be exactly sure how quickly the next round will get to us. When we do get the next round for shipping, we will likely post an announcement.
