Hi - I just bought the newest 2023 FireTV 4k Max v2 on the Black Friday sales.

While it appeared to work properly with my old Flirc at first, I noticed that it doesn't work 100% of the time. For example, the "OK" button works most of the time, but it doesn't work at all in the Sling TV application. When I switched my new v2 FireTV stick with our FireTV 4K Max v1 stick, Sling TV works perfectly when the OK button is pressed.

Is there anything I can do to fix it?

Is that the only app that doesn’t work? Only the okay button and only on one version of the firetv?

I am also experiencing this with the 2023 FireTV Max "Gen 2".  I have the Gen 1 and it works flawlessly with it.  Seems to be certain screens that do it.  The easiest example is the password screen prompt.  If you have your FTV's parental controls turned on, it will prompt for a pin when you go into something like notifications - Main Screen Setup (cog wheel all the way to the right) -> Notifications.  Navigating to the works fine including using the ok/select button to enter Notification.  It then shows the "Enter Prime Video PIN" screen with the option to enter 1 (up), 2 (right), 3 (down), 4 (left) and 0 (ok/select).  All work except the ok/select button.

I can do more testing if needed.

Hello.

It is happening to me with other apps from this specific device.

The OK buttons works inside FireTV menus and official apps, but any external app is experiencing this issue.

I understand that it is "only" one button on one device, but the most important one to achieve anything.

Is there a way we could help troubleshoot?

Just to add a +1 seeing this issue.
I’m using a flirc firetv edition with a harmony remote, but the enter/ok button does not work in some specific applications.

its working fine within the main device menus and most other apps.

so either the issue is with the firetv itself, or some apps are not responding to the same remote codes.

@jason did you ever get to the bottom of this with your previous investigation?

Same issue. Not able to change options within Playback on Prime Video. Is there a fix/planned fix for this?

Yes, I'm going to take a look soon.

Have you tried manually re-programming the problematic keys using the Flirc GUI? App-specific issues like this often require custom mapping. Also, ensure your Flirc has the latest firmware for maximum compatibility with newer devices .

How do you do the custom remapping? Is there are guide for this? I'd like to add functionality to the Android TV profile to call numbers.

I have the SAME issue with 3 brand new Fire TV sticks 4k and the Enter/Select middle button not working in certain submenus.   There must be a different OK or ENTER or SELECT command for these that the factory remote issues.   We need a solution for a big install at a restaurant sourcing these to 20 TVs.

I promise I’m seeing these and know of how I can solve this and the reason why. I have a huge family event coming up next weekend and have very little time beyond the necessary at work. I will try to address it before but at the latest will jump on this the first thing on Monday the 22nd.

Sorry, we've all been taking turns getting sick and I was playing nurse at home. I bought a FireTV Max, a game controller, and I have some test firmware. I should be able to do  some testing tomorrow.

I figured it out. I'm going to think about how best to solve it. I also figured out how to send those fucking primet, peakcock, directv, etc buttons....

Try the following. This includes a firmware image that fixes the issue with the built-in profiles. It should also resolve the issue if you relearn the keys using the FLIRC software and the Fire TV controller (relearn any problematic keys).

If you have a Skip remote, this adds a few more buttons. Load the attached file into the Skip software, as this is currently the only way to access the new keys until I expand the Fire TV controller in the GUI.

Windows 32 Bit
Linux App Image
Linux Static Compile
Mac Universal

Sorry this took so long. It was much more work than I expected. I was able to implement some of the special Amazon keys, but it will require additional firmware work to fully support them, which I plan to do.

Please let me know.

I downloaded the Win64 version and tried to run it but get an error.  I did the "Unblock" thing on the zip file (right-click -> Properties) before extracting.  Is there something else I have to do?  I copied over the WinSpakle.dll file into the extract folder which it complied about first.

Ok, well I tried it using the command line exe - never used that before.  I loaded using the same IR code with the older Fire TV.  Unfortunately, it behaved the exact same way.  I even tried importing the the Hex code for the `CURSOR ENTER` button in the JSON file via the URC software.  Same result.
