Perhaps get your changes to @jason so he can add them to a future build, so the next person to have a Arris VIP5662W box doesn't have to go through what you did.

Awesome, this works... don't know exactly why, but it does. For anyone wanting to try this, the keyboard.xml file is the Kodi keyboard.xml file. You'll need to update the settings under the <keymap <global <keyboard section. If there are existing equals or minus bindings, you'll need to replace them with these.
-
Those are the exact same thoughts as me.

@jason what are the chances of getting this in an upcoming release? Should be fairly easy as it's just another pair of key presses?
-
Reported here : @jason said to export config BEFORE removing old version, then reload once new version is installed. That worked for me. That being said, seems strange that the app couldn't just use existing config files if it can find them, when a new version starts up. Having the config embedded as part of the install seems strange to me. Most other apps I use keep configs seperate from the main install, so if the install is removed, the config files remain. Many provide a "do you want to remove the config files as well" option should you wish to really remove everything. Jason, is this doable?

In looking through the list of "Buttons" that the Skip app can send, it seems to be missing Kodi's native PageUP and PageDOWN support. Are they perhaps called something else? How hard would it be to add them to an upcoming build? This would be really handy when looking a lists of items, and be able to go through them page by page, vs skips limit of item by item.
-
The only thing to try to figure out now, is how to get it to send Kodi next page, previous page. For some reason those options are missing from the Skip app.
-
I figured this out on my own. removed all skip stuff and reinstalled. Export the current the config on the skip app. Uninstall the skip app. Install the latest version of the skip app. It went through the welcome screen, and wanted to initialize everything. Connected Skip 1s, it hung.. and crashed. (BTW, please get rid of the animations in the app.. not needed.) Restarted skip app. Started great. Import the saved export from above. Firmware upgrade to Skip 1s available.. installed. FINALLY.. volume up does just volume up. It no longer also sends next chapter. EDIT: Not the solution.. still having the problem. Turns out I was testing with new files that didn't have chapter makers.. duh.

Upgrading Skip App failing from 0.9.966 to 0.9.971.8482
revin replied to revin's topic in General Questions
That worked. And it immedatly found another update; 0.9.980. Thanks. -
3 months now.. and not a peep or a question or followup from anyone at flirc. @jason @Nathan BTW: almost all of moderators for this forum haven't logged in for YEARS when you look at their profiles. Time to houseclean?
-
Running 0.9.966, and it detects an upgrade is available. I choose update. It downloads and starts the install.. then fails with the following error: App installation failed with error message: Windows cannot install package SkipApp_0.9.971.8482_x64__nk6j7xazwq5t8 because a different package SkipApp_0.9.966.7695_x64__sddpyax1dmvqm with the same name is already installed. Remove package SkipApp_0.9.966.7695_x64__sddpyax1dmvqm before installing. (0x80073cf3) Pretty sure this used to work in the past. Any Hints?

2 months now.. and nothing.

Disappointed. More than a month later (6 weeks actually) and not a peep, or even an acknowledgement from @jason or any of the Slip team ( @Nathan ??)
-
@jason can you take a quick peek at the skip file? Anything stand out?
-
I've taken a look at the config json files, and I don't see anything obvious. Am I on my own on this one?
-
@jason Thoughts?

I've attached my config, but this has been going on for a while. When I press volume up on the skip, the volume goes up, but it also does a next chapter. Very annoying. Volume down, does just volume down, as expected. Running Skip App 0.9.965, firmware screenshot attached. Flirc app is a v3.27.15, firmware on Flirc shows as v4.10.5 Any ideas? minipc.skip

I'm experiencing the same thing. Remote won't light up. Makes it seem like the battereis are dead. I remove the batteries, wait 30 seconds to a minute, put the same batteries back in.. everything works.
-
My remote is good for a few days/weeks and then locks up. It makes it seem like the batteries are dead, but the remote itself is locked. For me, I have to remove the batteries.. wait about 30 seconds to a minute. then put the same batteries back in. Works fine after that. Try that?

FLIRC and Plasma TVs.. what's the magic sauce needed?
revin replied to revin's topic in General Questions
I have 1 activity; devices are TV and Media Center PC. TV is the LG. Media PC is Flirc -> Kodi. However, I've been doing some more digging, especially around Plasma TVs and IR interference. LOADS of forums in different devices with this in common. In reviewing many of the "fixes" (worked for them, not for me) and suggestions, I came across one that sounded strange, but plausible. This post [Does plasma radiation interfere with IR signals? | AVS Forum] suggests putting masking tape over the IR receiver to filter out the plasma noise. Apparently it filters out the indirect noise, while still letting the direct IR through. "The tape is translucent enough to allow the actual remote ir signal in but opaque enough to cut done plasma interference sufficiently to avoid confusing the equipment." Guess what.. it bloody works. With a simple peice of masking tape over the flirc IR receiver it drops the interference by at least half, maybe more. Mutiple layers might also work, but what I did was to be more strategic in the placement of the PC itself. I've positioned it deeper in the TV cabinet, yet still have LOS to the skip1s when I am using it. This now works flawlessly. No more skipped button pushes. No more phantom pushes. There is still some IR noise received by the flirc, but not enough to have it translate and forward those events to the PC. In a nutshell; masking tape over the flirc receiver and better placement of the PC (and thus the flirc itself) to make it less susceptable to plasma noise from the TV. Hope this helps others. -
I have the skip1s paired with a flirc and have been having no end of trouble., Missed presses on the Skip, phantom presses that the flirc happily runs with, etc.. It's made the slip1s+flirc unusable for me. After some amount of trial and error, I think I've traced the issue down to the TV itself. It's a plasma based one. I run the flirc app on a media pc connected to the TV and open "device log" with "Enable IR debugging" enabled. The logs shows phantom signals being received by the flirc. I'm not touching the skip at all at this point. Sometimes the interference seems to flood the flirc. If I RDP in (this allows this test), connect to the same session as above, turn off the TV, the interference noise goes away. Almost completely. Turn back on the TV; interference flood. Turn off TV; quiet. (even with the TV off there is a bit of noise, but not the flood while it is on). Apparently, in reading through some of the posts here, I'm not alone in this problem, especially where Plasma is present. I don't understand.. if my old Harmony IR hub didn't have the same issue connected to the same devices, why would the flirc? Is there a noise cancellation/reduction option in the flirc app/firmware that can filter out all of the TV noise?
-
I think you are right. The issue seems to be with the Flirc. I'll close this thread and start looking in the Flirc posts.

Flirc v2 very slow response and missing keys events

I know this is an old thread, but I'm encountering the same issue. What did you mean "light paper mask"? can you post a pic?
