I thought I'd share my configuration of my Harmony 650 remote. I didn't think it's worthy of it's own thread, so I hope I'm not hijacking this thread here. [Edit by Chris!: I think it's worth it's own thread so I used my mod powers for good - not evil :) ) The media center (which I setup for my Father) is running Windows 7 using WMC for live & recorded TV and XBMC for downloaded movies & TV shows. I initially thought this may be tricky due to XBMC and WMC having overlaps in the default keymap for some of their functions. Play/pause/skip/etc are actioned by different keyboard commands. It is possible to edit XBMC's keymap, but upon inspecting it, I see it also re…

Got my Flirc in the mail today that I picked up on the BF sale. Had some initial difficulty getting the software installed but after about 15 minutes the device was connected and I updated to the rc6 software. Then I proceeded to install the Samsung profile because that was the first forum post I stumbled across. After a bit more searching I found out about the Flirc/XBMC profile for my Harmony 650 and all seems to be working well. I just wanted to say hello to everyone in the community. I'll probably be back with more questions and look for further info on tweaking my setup. So far I'm very happy to have Flirc!

Here's my setup, finally. Apartment All those network cables sitting on the right are for one of these. This brings the video/sound from my gaming PC that is in another room. Works great so far. House - see below :) Here's the back of my remote that came with the TV. Here's the front.

I've finished my Fathers setup recently.. Media PC enclosed in a SilverStone ML03 case. 120GB solid state HDD for the system and a 3TB HDD for media and a TV tuner card. Low power i3 CPU and a run of the mill Asus motherboard. Controlled by a Harmony 650 remote pushing commands to the Flirc receiver. Nothing too special, just a clean simple setup which gets the job done for Mum and Dad. The Flirc receiver is connected to a USB extension cable and sits hidden away in the gap on top of the computer. Picks up the signal just fine. XBMC for movies and downloaded TV shows and WMC for live TV. I've setup Couch Potato with the bookmark which allows them to browse IMDB and …

Just received my Flirc yesterday to use with an upgraded MythTv system and I wanted to say thank you! This is a brilliant idea and has literally saved me hours and hours of work goofing with lirc and programmable remotes. Teach it, plug it in and go. Ten minuets and I was done! Amazing! Best of luck, and thanks again.

Trying to cut down on cable cost we dropped back to just basic. This gives us 32 analog channels. To pickup more channels i chose the Hauppauge HRV1600, a two tuner card which lets us have 20 ATSC OTA channels. Hauppauge cards ship with WinTV 7 and include a remote. Only problem was the remote operation was unusable. I notified Hauppauge support but never heard back. For the OTA channels I built two Gray Hoverman antennas... Living on the south end of Vancouver Island we get the Victoria/Vancouver Canadian stations and the Seattle/Bellingham US stations. Hoping to fix the remote problem I picked the FLIRC, same problem with erratic to non-operational…

  9. FLIRC is a wonderful thing. USB DACs disable the volume control on Macs. This is sensible from a perfectionist perspective but obnoxious when it adds to the remote control garden. I decided to hijack 3 of the 7 buttons on an Apple Remote and hook up an Alps motorized potentiometer and a mute circuit. It's in a gutted an old Advent radio with the LEDs wired to show activity. Aside from FLIRC, the big find was pygame, which allowed me to capture the keystrokes without fail. With a tiny shell script, the simple code below runs beautifully as an appliance on powerup without a display or keyboard or network. The added circuitry is just 2 L272M power opamps, a 2N3906 t…

Received my Flirc today, set it up for my Windows XBMC Box and my older Logitech Harmony 656 remote and it's working great! I set up my Logitech Harmony 656 remote as ASUS O!Play HD2 remote, ran Flirc software to program the keys, loaded up XBMC and its running great, no lag when scrolling through the menus, doesn't miss a button press or pause and then jump ahead like I have read other posters here complain about. I did grab an old remote I had that had a few other keys that the Asus O!Play remote didn't have and programmed them in with the learn IR option in the Logitech Harmony software, like the 0 to 9 number keys, record button and the guide button, info etc et…

Very Simple to setup yet robust media solution. .My setup includes (PLEX, XBMC, Boxee, Hulu Desktop, AutoHotkey), using http://www.flirc.tv/ with my DirecTv remote setting AV1 to my Audio reciever and AV2 to (DirecTV Reciever 00003). It allows me to switch between the apps with a touch of a button. Thanks to Flirc since it is what makes it so easy. 14. Jason... I want to post a public "thank you" for what you did recently in my wife's name. Without making the details public, I want to let everyone know how much it touched us. To everyone... I know this post won't make sense to you. Just know that this developer -- this man -- is awesome.

  15. First thanks eskro for suggesting Flirc on XBMC forums and thanks to you for making such a little beautiful product. I've tried so many remote mini keyboards and IR receivers that I've given up on trying and settled for a full size wireless keyboard to control the XBMC. That is until I found out about Flirc and eskro's enthusiasm made me order one. So here it is my little retreat corner. XBMC box is a i3 530 CPU on some ASUS main board with 2GB ram and a 32G SSD running Xbmc Live in Linux. For audio and video I use a passively cooled Zotac GT210. Box is a standard and cheap mATX case with a silent Corsair PSU. The other bits include a Samsung 55" LCD, Denon AV…

This isn't really a question, I just wanted to express my gratitude for such a great product. It is so rare to find something that seems so simple and yet actually works, I have been astounded. I am running XBMC on an Ubuntu install and wanted to control it with a remote from the start. At first I did a lot of research on the XBMC boards, and most of the posts explain how to set-up an MCE remote to work with XBMC. So I bought a cheap MCE remote and dongle, complied LIRC because of course my cheap remote wasn't supported out of the box, and got it working relatively well with XBMC. Only one problem. There was some kind of IR interference from my remote with the TV and e…

Hello I thought i'd share my set-up: XS35GTV2 (running openelec) + Flirc + Harmony remote 300: My harmony remote is programmed as a plex player panasonic tv remote so it works with my Mac's IR port when using XBMC on mac. The plex player setting is also used for FLIRC I programmed Flirc using keyboard setting so I could get the most functionality out of XBMC (http://wiki.xbmc.org...Global_Keyboard) I mapped the channel up and channel down to page down and page up respectively so large abouts of the library can be skipped - fine by me! I'd like to see more set-ups with XBMC not only out of curiosity but if I was a new user i'd like to know other pe…
