Radical_Rhino Posted October 8, 2024 Report Posted October 8, 2024 (edited) Hi, I have three devices connected to my LG G4 OLED via HDMI and then the HDMI2 eArc port going to my receiver for audio. Unfortunately I have to do this because my receiver is old and does not support 4k. Someday I'll upgrade, but I'd like to avoid it because it's still serving me well otherwise. Because eArc is flaky, to get any sound, every time I turn my TV on, I have to either: 1) Enable/disable eArc in the LG menu (doesn't seem to be a button for this I can program) OR 2) Unplug / re-plug the HDMI2 cable OR 3) Turn off/turn on the eArc audio extractor I'm using for backwards compatibility with my Arc-only receiver To automate this, it seems like I could add a smart outlet for #3. Could the Skip1s control a smart outlet? What tech would be required to enable that? Edited October 8, 2024 by Radical_Rhino Quote
ytsejam1138 Posted October 12, 2024 Report Posted October 12, 2024 If you have a button on the Skip 1s you are not using you could turn it into a macro to toggle eArc on and off in the LG menu. For example say you don't use the number 7, you would assign commands from your LG TV settings>menu down>menu right>ok>settings. Or whatever commands you use to get to the eArc setting to turn it off and on. You might also need to add some delays between the steps depending on how responsive your LG is to IR commands. Quote
