Yes I use a std micro usb cable as well on 3 different devices and both the units were not getting discovered on any of the pcs / laptops. 

I did manage to get one discovered when I had conned the Flirc Fire TV Male Microsoft usb to the a microusb to usb adapter. Though it would get discovered by the flirc software and gave me a message to upgrade the firmware. I click on okay and then the flirc software crashed and after which the flirc fire tv would not connect. 

I also tried the methods suggest of trying to manually install the driver or recover it but nothing seems to work as it says the flirc device is not connected. 

 

Your assistance will be most appreciated. I am happy to have to a video call and a TeamViewer session if you can spare time to help assist in troubleshooting this.

I managed to get the flirc usb fire tv edition connected. I managed to get a new micro USB cable and that seems to work and I managed to connect to the flirc and update the firmware, though it was not showing up in the device manager.

 

 

Is there anyway to change hdmi inputs on the Amazon Fire TV using the Flirc?
