Hi, Not sure if this forum is still alive but here goes nothing! I have a Flirc Streacom edition ... Gen 1 and it's been a faithful little device for years. Recently, I purchased a new TV and I wanted to remap the buttons to a new remote... and that's when the fun began. I found the flirc app was showing as disconnected despite the device still functioning normally with my old remote. I followed the instructions for uninstalling and reinstalling the driver but to no avail. The driver was installed and showing as healthy in the device manager. I tried the command line utility flirc_util but it just gave me errors "Access is denied. Unable to contact device". I tried using zadig and it shows the flirc (interface 1) as being on libusbk (v184.108.40.206). It allowed me to upgrade to v220.127.116.11 but it didn't help. So I booted up Ubuntu and I tried to get it working on a live USB. I managed to symlink libreadline.so.8.1 -> libreadline.so.6 and got the software to load but it too showed disconnected. I tried flirc_util and it offered some colourful language when doing a `./flirc_util unit_test` ... saying it's f**ked. I ran `./flirc_util dfu` and upon starting the GUI client it immediately updated the firmware! I recorded the new remote and shutdown the machine, booting back into windows. At this point I lost functionality... neither the old or new remotes would work although I could still power on. In Windows, I loaded the GUI and once again it showed as disconnected. I loaded zadig and found a 2nd interface "flirc (interface 0)" in the list which was using WinUSB. I updated it to libusbK (v18.104.22.168 - was the only option) and GUI immediately started a firmware update, flashing to 3.11.0. I could also use the command line utility and started trying to remap keys. The recording is successful but the keys cannot be played back! I ran the `flirc_util format` in an attempt to restart but this only resulted in the loss of the power button. I had to boot back into ubuntu in order to re-record that key press using flirc_util. I could record left, right etc... but they don't work even though the recording is successful! Long story short, I have a flirc streacom edition gen 1 on 3.11.0 with libusbK 3.0.7, Flirc 3.26.5 and no working remote. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! (especially if anyone knows what drivers it should be using on the 2 interfaces!!!).

Flirc SE - Gen 1 or Gen 2?
astromo posted a topic in Remote ControlsI've got a Harmony Ultimate One and a non-Streacom case. From what I can see advised here: http://www.streacom.com/downloads/ug/flirc-se.pdf the SE board should work with any mother board that provides matching pins. What I can't work out is what generation of Flirc the SE aligns with. Gen 1 or Gen 2? The relevant page doesn't make it clear for me: https://flirc.tv/more/flirc-streacom-edition If I'm looking to deal with a Gen 1 style setup, then I'd probably pass and opt for a Gen 2 USB unit instead. Thanks in advance for the assistance.
THRobinson posted a topic in General QuestionsI have the Flirc Streacom edition plugged into my media server. Was updating a few things today, small SSD drive and decided to give Ubuntu a try, but, nothing seemed to work... uninstalling LibreOffice fails, updates wouldn't work, couldn't get the Flirc install to work either. Never used Ubuntu/Linux before, but I know how to follow directions... just odd errors and such. Finally gave up, and tried OpenEllec instead. Installed, booted into KODI, no problem, but couldn't figure out how to get to the OS to install Flirc. Figured, if what I read was true, I could just hook up the old drive, boot into Win7x64, install and setup Flirc with that, because from what I read, the chip on the Flirc itself saves the keypress info. But, I'm still having issues. I'm still in Win7. Until it's working perfect with Kodi I don't want to swap the drives around. I setup the remote using Kodi under controllers, and surprised at how many keys that I use daily are missing. I guess I'll have to use full keyboard and in Kodi remap the key functions from there? Main 2 issues though are 1) Every other time I go into Kodi, one or two buttons don't work. I go back to the Flirc setup screen, and most buttons say 'button already exists' but always one or two that aren't setup even though I had them setup and working. It seems that after a restart, or just over time I'm not certain, the Flirc forgets a few buttons. Since not a USB Flirc, I can't fix that easily once I switch drives around if it forgets again. 2) Power off/on doesn't work. I mapped the PWR button on my remote (Sony RM-VZ320) and saved... but when I click the button while the system is on, I get a Windows 'ding' noise. When the system is powered off, there is a (very) bright blue LED on the board that remains on, so getting power, but when I click PWR, nothing happens at all. Case PWR button works fine. Any ideas? I need to get the power on/off working, and make sure that once programmed, Flirc doesn't keep forgetting random buttons.
Flirc (Streacom) not working on Debian 9 Stretch
Erdbeergulasch posted a topic in General QuestionsHy, my brand new streacom flirc (ST-FLIRC-SE) device is not working currently (on Debian 9 Stretch). If I use flirc_util as root and as normal user, I always get "device disconnected, can't run command". It happens with both, the debian packages and the Linux binaries. also the device doesn't show up in lsusb: $ lsusb Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0003 Linux Foundation 3.0 root hub Bus 001 Device 005: ID 8087:0a2b Intel Corp. Illuminated Keyboard Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hubBut If I open the case, the Blue LED is lighting, therefore I hope, I have connected it properly: I connected it to the MB this way: GND <=>GND, +5V <=> +5V, DX- <=> DA-, DX+ <=> DA+ and the 10-Pin USB Header on the motherboard is designed as following: Pin 1,2 +5V Pin 3 USB DX- Pin 4 USB DY- Pin 5 USB DX+ Pin 6 USB DY+ Pin 7,8 GND Pin 9 NC Pin 10 NA I use the GA-Z170N Motherboard: (http://download.gigabyte.eu/FileList/Manual/mb_manual_ga-z170n(h170n)-wifi_e.pdf) And a Streacom Alpha FC8 case. What can I do now? Thanks
Shutdown not working
Brigitte posted a topic in General QuestionsHi everyone, First off, best wishes for 2016! I recently purchased a Streacom case and a Flirc SE addon card, to use with my Logitech Harmony Ultimate. In the Harmony software I set up a Flirc device with Kodi as the model. At first, the PC wouldn't start, but then I found that the command Logitech had added automatically ("Shutdown PC") was actually the proper command to turn on the PC. I switched the power settings in the Harmony software and now the remote can start the PC. However, I've been unable to use the remote to shutdown the PC, the computer is simply not responding. It is running Windows 7 and the "what happens when I press the power button" is set to the default "shutdown". I tried recording the power button using the commandline and flirc_util, but this breaks something, the PC will no longer start up. Any ideas? A second issue I'm having is that the power button on the remote now starts two PCs. Is there a way to differentiate between the two computers? The second computer has an IMON display/IR receiver. Any help is appreciated.
FLIRC-SE on the way ... preempting questions!
sniperzoz posted a topic in General QuestionsHi all .... So .. i'm new to FLIRC .. but not new to HTPCs (and building PCs in general) .. i've also read a lot about FLIRC. Anyway .. i'm changing my current HTPC setup, but am keeping my streacom case - i've ordered an FLIRC-SE which will be replacing streacom's IR header ... one very important feature for me is the ability to power on the PC via remote (specifically a harmony ultimate & hub). So - having read quite a bit on FLIRC i was planning the following: mobo to have USB power on stand by enabledupgrade FLIRC-SE to latest fw and make sure internal profiles are enabledadd FLIRC/KODI device to harmonySo ... in theory that should already give me 99% of functionality (right?!) ... what i'm not sure on is powering on - the FLIRC/KODI profile doesn't seem to include a PowerON command (PowerOFF is present) ... do I need to program a PowerON button myself? If I understood correctly - if I don't do that any IR signal will turn the PC on ... or is it any button from FLIRC/KODI profile? That might be acceptable. Cheers all!
Hi all I have a HTPC build in a Streacom FC8 Evo case (http://www.streacom.com/products/fc8-evo-fanless-chassis/). The HTPC serves content via HDMI to a Samsung UE46ES7005 (the Scandinavian version of the Samsung ES7000). No speaker system is yet included in the setup, but I plan on acquiring one and I plan for it. Streacom sells a FLIRC module (http://www.streacom.com/products/flirc-se-adaptive-ir-receiver/) which can be mounted inside their cases and this module is able to power the PC on when it receives a certain IR signal (not sure what this signal is yet). It does being inserted into the ATX power on circuit (the two wires connecting pin 16 on the ATX 24-pin connector and ground). The Streacom FLIRC module is how I heard about FLIRC. I came to their site to check out their other IR receiver+remote (http://www.streacom.com/products/irrc/) looking to make a CEC setup (having just learned about CEC from a friend). So I would like to hear if it is possible to choose a remote (for use with FLIRC) which will allow me to control my HTPC (Streacoms custom power on function and XBMC/Kodi), my Samsung ES7000 (power on, volume, channels, menus etc.)? On top of this; do you think it is possible to find a speakerset / receiver+speakers which will also work with the same remote (power on, volume, choose input)? In this thread I was told that the most popular remote on this forum was the Logitech Harmony models. yawor also spoke highly of OneForAll Simple 4 remote ( URC-6440). Would either of those work for me? A speaker system would most likely be connected to the HTPC using S/PDIF (RCA or Toslink). I suppose I have to pick a receiver featuring a remote in order to control them with a Harmony or OneForAll universal remote. Thank you for your input! / Jonas
hi there and thx!Hi, i just wanted to say thank you. Got my flirc yesterday for my streacom htpc and i think it is awesome, but i only had some hours to play with it until now. Before i start questioning i'm reading through the forum, new IR-Device and new remote (harmony touch) is damn confusing. My first impression is that this is an XBMC thing, good for me using mediaportal. :( I'm switching over from the libCEC adapter because there are some features missing like startig programs and powering on both, tv and pc). That's it! :D Will head over again when done with the setup or completly distracted. ;) greetz loki
