Dear Developers, I experience a strange problem with the Flirc USB2. Apparently it is not possible to assign both keyboard keys esc and backspace (latter one is designated as delete key on the full keyboard) to different buttons on my remote controller. For some reason if I record a remote controller button to the esc key than the delete key is also assigned to that remote button (in Kodi then it realy shows the escape behavior, i.e. jumpt directly to the main menu). However, if other way round I assign the delete key to my remote button, than automatically esc is also a mapped to that button (then the behavior is back, i.e. go to the upper folder). To be more specific: I am using a harmony companion remote controller having two buttons BACK and EXIT. My goal: BACK button to be assigned with the backspace key, EXIT button to be assigned with the esc key. Even more strange is, when I assign both buttons as described above and erase one button (doesn't matter which on, say EXIT) if then I try to erase the other button BACK the GUI says that this button has already been erased (which I didn't). So I really would like to ask for your support in this matter. Best greetings from Berlin

Hi folks, I received my nice new Flirc Skip 1S remotes yesterday and excitedly got down to setting them up on my ‘most straight forward’ configuration (A TV and a Kodi Box). An hour later, I was stumped. After a few searches on the forums, I didn’t find any obvious fixes, so I spent a rainy Saturday figuring this out for the community. Here are my conclusions and also a few Bug Fix requests for the Flirc team at the end... My configuration MacBook Pro OSX 13.5.2 Kodi 20.2.0 Flirc Skip App 0.9.954 Flirc USB App 3.25.3 YouTube Video showing the same method can be found here Steps to configure Flirc Skip 1S for Kodi, including PVR and other ‘missing’ commands Delete all configurations from the Flirc Skip 1S remote and delete the remote from the Skip App Connect Flirc USB to a USB port In the Flirc USB app select the Kodi Controller In the Skip App, Use the wizard to configure an activity using the wizard as follows: Activity A: Media Center PC > Kodi Add Devices: PC > Flirc - Kodi PC > Flirc - Windows Media Center Map the Kodi device to the controls for Navigation, Media and Audio Choose the Buttons panel and make the following modifications Power Button: Power Up: Remove any Power Up commands Power Button: Power Down: Removed any Power Down commands Record Button: Map to the PC: Windows Media Center - RECORD command Channel Up Button: Map to the PC: Windows Media Center - CHANNEL UP command Channel Down Button: Map to the PC: Windows Media Center - CHANNEL DOWN command Home Button: Map to the PC: Windows Media Center - GOTO GUIDE command (This is a personal preference given the lack of a dedicated Guide button) Synchronise the remote. At this stage, there is one button that still won’t function, the STOP button. To enable the stop button… Open the Flirc USB app Pick the STOP command in the Kodi controller (you will be promoted to record an IR command) Press the STOP button on the Flirc Skip 1S remote (the STOP IR command should now be mapped to the Kodi command for STOP) Grab a beer, popcorn or nachos and enjoy a fully functioning Kodi remote Hope at least a couple of folks find this interim solution useful. Now for the Bug reports BUG: Skip 1S Flirc - WIndows Media Center device has the command GOTO RECORDED TV mapped to the record button: FIX: Change to the RECORD Command BUG: Skip 1S Flirc - Kodi device is missing various IR codes and respective Kodi action mappings: FIX 1: Please add PC: Windows Media Center Record Button IR Code to the Skip 1S Record Button and map to the respective Kodi RECORD action [R] FIX 2: Please add PC: Windows Media Center Channel Up IR Code to the Skip 1S Channel Up Button and map to the respective Kodi PageUp action [Page Up] FIX 3: Please add PC: Windows Media Center Channel Down IR Code to the Skip 1S Channel Down Button and map to the respective Kodi PageDown action [Page Down] FEATURE REQUEST: Please add PC: Windows Media Center TV Guide IR Code and map to the respective Kodi TVGuide action [E] Solo

I'm trying to use a Philips DVD player remote. First, recording buttons failed often, but by repeating the procedure I finally managed to record all buttons. I read this means the frequency is non-standard? Second, when using it the keypresses pretty much give random results. I. e. pressing arrow down moves left instead, so on. I'm ready to buy an another remote, can anybody point me to a remote on eBay that works?

Hello, not sure if this is better of in the Bug section, so please move if this is true. I recently bought a Flirc (along with a Dell Thin client) to replace my RaspberryPi4 (with soldered IR receiver) to replace my Kodi setup. In principle it is working but I see these double key press issues. I tried reducing the delay in my harmony setup and used the Flirc profil as well but the problem persists. I attached the log from the Flirc app and you can clearly see the :e:25 almost every time. Kodi is almost impossible to use this way. This happens on my Mac if I’m very close but also on my TV setup being much more far away from the Flirc dongle. And there is a second issue with Flirc. Using my keyboard to control Kodi during setup of the ubuntu server I had no problems controlling Kodi. When I started using Flirc and tried starting a video I noticed that around every second time the controls worked only until then. When the video is playing, I’m not able to stop/pause the video or get back into the menu. And this is true for the regular keyboard as well. When I restart Kodi (systemctl) and without any further action the controls work fine again in Kodi. Not sure if this is a Flirc issue but I’m not seeing this with the regular USB keyboard. Any ideas? Really appreciate your help. my_flirc_config.fcfg my_flirc_log.txt

Received Flirc V2 today. Both software on MacOS and firmware are current as of Mar 12, 2022. The subject remote is XRT136 for Vizio TVs. The problem is that the remote gets stuck in some menus, then I use a usb keyboard to unstuck it, after which the remote works fine. The behavior is repeatable in the same menus. With the GUI, using the full keyboard template, I recorded remote keys successfully. Moved to my Libreelec box running Kodi 8.2.5. Remote appears to work successfully. As I pushed the Flirc-remote by navigating every corner of the system, I ran into several menus where the remote gets stuck. I also have a keyboard attached, so I hit "backspace" which takes me to previous menu. This action unstuck the remote as well, and it continues to work without any problem. Go in the same menu, it gets stuck again. One problematic menu is Libreelec settings and the other is Kodi System Audio selection menu. With this exact same Libreelec hardware and software I used an IR remote which came with its receiver, and a 2.4Ghz wireless remote successfully without any problems for a long time. Any suggestions?

So it took me forever to figure out how to wake and suspend Kodi using Flirc Usb and Logitech Harmony Hub and Alexa. These are not step by step instructions but you can google how to do it. 1. In Kodi, install the keymapper addon and use it to map the f12 or any key you would like to hibernate or suspend Kodi. Once setup, when you hit the f12 key while in Kodi your pc should suspend. 2. Install a new device in harmony hub app using manufacturer Flirc, Model Kodi. Once created, Edit the device, select power settings, and select turn off when not in use, use a single button to power on and off, and select the power off button as the button that will turn it on and off. 3. Once the device is created in the harmony hub app, Open the device and you will see a power button. Leave this open 4. Open the flirc GUI, select full keyboard as remote and select the f12 key in the flirc software to program it, it will turn green. When it asks to press a button on the remote, press the power button you just created In the harmony app that you left open above. This will send an ir signal from the harmony hub that will program the flirc usb 5. Now when in Kodi, if you hit the f12 button it will suspend. When you hit the power button in the Flirc device it will also make Kodi suspend. In addition, if you go into device manager and go to the properties tab of the flirc usb (listed as hid keyboard) And click power Management. Make sure That only “allow this device to wake the computer” is checked. If this is Setup properly and your motherboard allows wake from suspend, when you press the power button it will also wake your hibernated pc! If you have two hid keyboards, remove the flirc usb and the one you want will disappear. If you have a keyboard also attached, and it wakes your computer when you press a key, you can deactivate this same way by entering power management for your keyboard and uncheck “allow this device to wake computer”. 6. Now once this is all working you can create an activity in the harmony approach turn on pc. 7. Once the harmony activity is working in the harmony app, if you add the alexa skill harmony By Logitech and link your harmony account to Alexa, it will create a scene in Alexa. When you say turn on PC, or whatever you named the device in Harmony, it will wake your pc.when you say Alexa turn off pc it will suspend. hope this helps!

I have an Asus Chromebox with dual-boot but I almost exclusively boot into Kodi. I own a Harmony 665. I don’t have much experience exploring compatibility of plug-in peripherals in Kodi except for memory expansion (external hard drives). Is the Flirc IR receiver compatible for Kodi ? If it is, how does one configure Kodi functionality from within Kodi ? Thank you for your time.

I received my Flirc this morning. Syncing to my remote control was a breeze. But I'm trying to optimize things. Right now Flirc is plugged into my Raspberry Pi 3 running Kodi. Generally I leave my Raspberry Pi on all the time. Which means, if I'm using my TV on another application like Netflix (which runs from an app on the TV) I have to press the arrow keys and enter keys to navigate. Since Flirc is still plugged in and the Pi is on, this means that while I'm browsing Netflix I am also blindly navigating around Kodi files and settings. Obviously there's a potential for something to go horribly wrong here. Is there a way for my Pi to know when to not receive signals from Flirc? Can it somehow be attached to the signal, so that Flirc only sends signals to Kodi when the Pi's input is active?

Hello everybody, I´m new to this forum and I hope this is the correct question in the correct forum/section. I need some help in detail. Generally, My Harmony 650 works fine with Kodi/OSMC. My Flirc Firmware ist up to date. As I had some not-so-good-experiences with programming another remote-Crontroll (Hauppauge), I cleared all programmings in the flirc-SW. In the harmony software I chose Flirc as manufacturer and XBMC as Device. In general, my harmony rc works fine with that, except of two buttons: "volume down" and "info" don´t do anything, volume up and mute work fine! So I went to the myharmony-software and wanted to reprogram this vol. down button under "buttons". As I saw, that vol. down was assigned correctly, I didn´t change anything. Then I went to the flirc - sw and programmed the vol. down button. But it did not help. Does anybody have an advice for me? Thanks in advance! urmel

Hi, to resolve my problems with FLIRC and recording of my IR-codes from the Toshiba PC 'Qosmio' IR I tried every option from the 'Advanced' menu item but it keeps in "not working" state. E.g. the error message 'button already exists' occurs very often and even if not the recorded commands does not work at all or does not work as expected. Therefore I cannot use my Windows 7 media center HTPC together with FLIRC and my existing setup! I have read a lot of problem reports in this forum and my conclusion is: "Use any remote with your media center" is marketing bullshit. Sorry about my clear words but I'm very disappointed about this WRONG advertising. Why? Because also my IR keyboard "LiteOn SK-7100" shows the same negative result and for around 40 EUR (Amazon.de, approx. twice the price as in the US) FLIRC is a bad experience for me. One positive aspect I recognized: The "Flirc Kodi" device in the Logitech Harmony database works out of the box with my LINUX based Kodi HTPC. (This was only a cross-check if the FLIRC hardware is in general working.) For (e.g.) this use case you may get happy with FLIRC ... Michael P.S. I wrote this to inform other people which may have equal problems and not to get advices / help ...

I'm trying to get my flirc v2 working with a remote that was included with my TV card (DVBSky T9580 V3). I've recorded 6 keys on my Windows 10 desktop and then plugged it in to my HTPC running Arch Linux and Kodi 18. Unfortunately a lot of double or no presses occur. I'm sending a device log where I pressed 5-6 different keys for 1-2s which I hope you can take a look at? Otherwise I'll need to return the flirc as it is unusable in this state. Thanks! my_flirc_log.txt settings_output.txt

I just got a flirc 2. Using it on a PI 3 running Kodi 18. I have successfully mapped buttons that are working in Raspbian Pixel desktop. They also seem to work in Kodi—except ENTER. Nothing I map to ENTER in the FLIRC GUI will send an ENTER command to Kodi correctly. it is crazy because I can see ENTER working fine in a terminal window. I open a command prompt, press my enter key on my remote, FLIRC receives this and lo and behold, I see the command prompt go to a new line. By that account it seems to work. So I launch Kodi and my other nav buttons work, but ENTER does not. Yet, I know Kodi is ready for ENTER because I have a physical keyboard connected for testing and I can press enter on it and it works in Kodi. i have tried disabling the built in profiles in the GUI, I have remapped other remote buttons to enter, tried it on the full keyboard module, I even tried loading the Kodi key mapper add-on to attempt a workaround, but even this does not work. I can map the button press with Kodi key mapper (it registers receiving it) but it does not work when I try to use it. I am stuck. What is going on with the ENTER key in Kodi 18 on the Pi? This is useless if I cannot get ENTER to work. Other than that, it is really cool! <EDIT> Well, I think I may have solved my own problem here. The IR command I was issuing for the ENTER key was getting sent as a 3x repeat. FLIRC must have been recording this in some odd manner and when issuing the ENTER, it would sometimes rapid-fire a string of them, four in a row for example. Changing the IR repeat to 1, re-recording/learning the command seems to have fixed the problem. At least I am able to generate ENTER commands in Kodi now. I have some reconfiguring as a decide how to orient IR blasters etc, but I think my issue was the multiple sends, the recorded result, and further multiplying the effect when re-sending the command once learned (Kodi was often getting a contextual menu "c" command instead of enter, but BASH would show four enters in a row most cases).

Hi, I have a weird problem with Flirc and my Logitech Harmony 350 remote. When I press a numeric key (between 0 and 9), each number could be sent one or more time. I have the following setup : Flirc firmware version 3.9.0 Flirc GUI 3.11.6 Harmony firmware to latest version, set to "Flirc Kodi" device. Interkey delay is set to 350ms, I tried to change it to 500ms without success. Input delay is set to default value (500ms). I also tried 1000ms, without success Minrepeats was set to 1, I change it to 0 without success. Finally, I tried to change Flirc interkey delay, still without success. I switched between 0, 4 and 7. Did I missed something ? How can I make numeric keys to work ? Every other keys are fine. Thanks in advance.

Hi there, I got a Flirc IR universal receiver I want to use with Kodi. I first plugged it in a Mac running Flirc's GUI, programmed a few basic buttons (directional arrows, back) from a disused IR remote control. Kodi runs from LibreELEC on a Raspberry Pi 3. When I plug the Flirc IR receiver into the Raspberry Pi 3, nothing happens as I press the buttons on the remote control. Rebooted, same absence of result. What could be happening there?

Hello! What's the manufacturer/device used to get the full keyboard profile on a harmony ultimate remote? I've done Flirc/Kodi, but that aligns to the Kodi profile (that doesn't seem to work with play/pause). I've tried various forms of Flirc/Keyboard etc. Thanks.

hi, I have a linux system (opensuse) with 2 video outputs. One per hdmi to a LG TV of 50 "where almost always only kodi is displayed and another output to a 22" monitor that is the one that I use with opensuse daily. I have Flirc gen1, the one that comes in the Streacom box. Flirc is programmed with the keyboard commands that kodi uses, but if I want to use kodi and any other application of opensuse, for example surfing the network, it becomes a little complicated. For example, if I'm browsing with Firefox over the network, firefox has the focus, and if my child is with the remote and gives the arrow up, firefox goes up and kodi does not know. My son asks, what happens, does kodi ignore? So, I programmed a button on the remote so that when I clicked, kodi would receive the focus, but I do not think it would solve the problem ... There has to be some way that the keyboard that simulates Flirc only had an effect on Kodi, but I can not get it. It had occurred to me that in Kodi I could use a keyboard.xml and map the specific Flirc entries, but I can not do it. If I could add a prefix to the Flirc button, I could map the prefix + button to a kodi command ... but I do not know how to do it Can someone help me please? Thanks in advance

Hi, I'm trying to set up flirc that I just bought with my LG smart remote to be able to control kodi on an android box. I keep getting button already exists, and I did the following to trouble shoot, but none helped: 1. Avoided interference, all electronics and lights were off except for a laptop with windows 10 that I was using to install flirc 2. Reinstalled app 3. tried to minimalist and Kodi remotes, none of them worked 4. Disabled reconfigured profiles in the advanced setting as one suggested so far none worked. Any suggestions?

My setup is an Amazon firetv with a flirc and a Harmony 655 remote that have worked fine together. Recently I wanted to add a FLIRC to my HTPC with the same remote. In Harmony software I have two devices (FLIRC firetv and FLIRC kodi- they both show as flirc media player). The problem is both the HTPC and the FireTV are picking up the same commands. Which is wreaking havok on whichever device isn't currently active. Any ideas?

Hi all, I have been pulling my hair out trying to figure out whats going on so figured id sign up and ask! Been a Flirc user for over 2 years and legit 2 days ago it simply stopped controlling my Kodi setup (Windows 10 PC) using Logitech Harmony. I can see its still active in Device Manager and tried uninstalling software/driver + reinstall. Tried removing the Device from Logitech Harmony and re-adding. Changed USB ports .... almost everything under the sun I can think of but my remote simply cant control my PC (kodi) any more. I have tried re-mapping the buttons with the Flirc windows software but it just wont read the input strokes from the remote. Unsure where the issue lies, whether its Windows, Flirc, Logitech, Kodi but I have basically tried to address each one to no avail. Does anyone have any idea what else I can try? Happy to send logs or whatever else required. Thanks heaps in advance for any insight!

Hi, I just received my Flirc to go with the Nvidia Shield and I'm having some configuration challenges with my Harmony 350 remote. I followed the Harmony setup guide for Flirc and I'm using the "Flirc Media Player" profile. I noticed that there are several native Kodi controls that are missing that are mapped to keyboard shortcuts. The main ones that are missing for me are the Live TV controls such as EPG or channels, page up and down, etc. I tried using the keyboard profile but Flirc isn't recognizing all of the Harmony button presses - I imagine this is why the Harmony profile was created. Here's a list of the full set of Kodi controls available through a keyboard shortcut: http://kodi.wiki/view/Keyboard_controls Does anyone know how to map the buttons that aren't in the Harmony profile? Thanks

If you have been wondering on how to make Kodi work with Flirc and Harmony remotes to automatically suspend without you having to call up the shutdown menu or be stuck with the other methods that limit suspend commands to the home screen of Kodi this is how to do it with Kodi v15 at time of writing. Thx to GoodOmens for the tip though his info is a little out of date now so this is a guide on how to do it all. Kodi/Openelec Go to system information and make a note of it's IP address Turn on SSH in Kodi services Harmony Software Devices Flirc Media Player Change Device Settings Power Settings I want to turn this device off when not in use I press the same button for on and off Add command and select PowerOff (if you have messed with poweroff before finding this guide choose the fix command and reset IR code for PowerOff) Sync remote Go to Flirc software Select file clear configuration Select full keyboard Select Ctrl+F12 (as Kodi wont respond to this at least not yet) Go to devices on Harmony remote and select Flirc media player then hit the power off key to map it to Ctrl+F12 (requires harmony with display screen or map power off to physical button) From Windows Download WinSCP Select SFTP Input Kodi IP address Username = root and password = openelec Once logged in select options\preferences\panels and tick the box for “show hidden files” Browse to /storage/.kodi/userdata/keymaps folder Create a file called remote.xml Copy and paste in the text below, then save (old floppy disk icon) <keymap> <global> <keyboard> <f12 mod="ctrl">XBMC.Suspend()</f12> </keyboard> </global> </keymap> Exit WinSCP Kodi/Openelec Reboot the system (required for new xml to take effect) Now if all goes well when using Harmony activities the system should go into suspend. If you've been wondering why not just use the stock Flirc/Kodi power off command combined with the Kodi settings\power saving changing it from shutdown to suspend, this doesn't work. If you go this path the system will always wake up when using any activity and not go into suspend, the stock power off command is bugged somehow like it's being sent multiple times.

I bought FLIRC specifically to use with Kodi on a new iMac without an IR receiver. (There is a picture of this remote on the website, so it seemed reasonable to expect it to work.) But there is no controller map for this remote, and it seems impossible to duplicate the behaviour of the original so that, e.g., the up arrows work for navigation, but also change volume while a file is playing. Have i wasted my money?

Hi, I have had a Flirc Gen.1 plastic model for a number of years in an older media PC. That unit had died and I have just setup a ZOTAC Windows 7 Pro PC. I also use a Harmony One remote and added a Flirc device in Kodi flavor. After downloading the current software from your site, I could program keys - but I cannot use the Harmony to operate Kodi (or even use the number-keys within a .txt file). The log reads: Error: unsupported device must have flirc gen 2 enabled device and fw >= 4.1.0 I did google this and ended up with messages based on the same symptoms but with no real solution. There is also mention of some "Zadic" software with no reference on how to use it or whether this did actually help anyone. Is this gen 1 dongle obsolete? Do I need different software, firmware, etc.? Thanx in advance for your help. Cheers, Volker
