Re: the IR extender, most of them seem to be pretty short. I'm actually gonna be running the cables through the walls and across the room via the attic - so it's a fairly permanent installation, & I want to make the right choice.
I made my own extension cable so cable length is not an issue.

Most issues are already posted in the thread "Any chance of getting the Harmony Profile updated?"
I suggest Admin close this thread and everyone puts their feedback in one place.

Just a thought, if the current HW makes it difficult to implement and it breaks principals for programming, isn't it also then very difficult to get this reliable without huge investment in time?
If yes,wouldn't a gen2 HW be a much better base? Why not postpone support for this feature in current HW and instead focusing on cleaning up bugs in current SW (for example the Native Harmony profile) and try to get out a new hardware version of Flirc. As I have understood, your code base is now prepared to do so, correct? :)

There is a bunch of issues with the native support for XBMC keycodes, I hope Jason will start looking at this soon :-)
It's both issues with mapped native codes in FW (can be workaround by manually adding the mapping) but also problems with the Flirc profile in Harmony config tool.
-
I have similar solution with about 20 feet (~6 meter) between my htpc och TV. My solution was to route a USB-cable the same path and connect the Flirct to a small USB2-hub close to the TV.
Earlier I also used to have my tranciver at the same place as the htpc. Then I used a simple wired IR Extender for all of the IR-signals.

So far I know, the Guide key doesn't have a mapping in the Flirc profile. Check Flirc Device in the Harmony config tool.

I have today in more detail tested the Flirc XBMC Profile in the Harmony software. I found that many of the physical buttons are missing and some of the hardcoded commands in Flirc aren't correct.
Several commands in the current Flirc Profile are also not available in the default keyboard map for XBMC/Kodi. I hope Jason prioritze to reuse those IR signal codes for the physical buttons that is not working today.
In the list below I have also added some important key codes that are missing today and where Harmony One doesn't have a physical button. They are added as "Touch Screen Butttons".
Source fpr the currently used default keyboard key maps in XBMC/Kodi are available here: http://kodi.wiki/view/Keyboard
and the complete list: https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc/blob/master/system/keymaps/keyboard.xml
Jason, I would really appreciate if you could release a new version of the Harmony profile and also update the firmware with the correct codes. Let me know if I can assist in some way. :)

EDIT
Found out a page where Jason has documentet the mappings of codes for the flirc GUI, I thought it would appropriate with a link to it from here as referens: https://flirc.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/202923419-Controller-presets-in-Flirc-GUI

I there any plans to update the Harmony Profile in the near future?
If not, can the community do anything to help out to update the Profile sooner then currently planned?
-
You can check the WMC keyboard shortcut here: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/media-center-keyboard-shortcuts#1TC=windows-7
I assume they have one for the buttons mentioned above.
-
You could change key mappings in XBMC to be compatible with WMC.
For Logitech Harmony, will a native profile for WMC be available as for XBMC?
I use WMX as PVR and XBMC for movies on the same PC. For me it's more interesting having a native WMC profile than for XBMC because, as you write, XBMC keymappings could be altered - but that's not the case with WMC.
All WMC keyboard shortcuts are available here: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/media-center-keyboard-shortcuts#1TC=windows-7

Hi Jason,
would it be possible for you to create a specific Topic in the forum where you publish info of new releases? (as you did with pre-releases) :)
And could you please also write the release date of current release on the download page?
I really miss this today and it's difficult to keep track of if I have the latest release installed.

Plex use escape-key as back button.
Is there a way to link the menu button on the remote to the windows-button, making it easier to navigate back to PLEX if you leave the program.
OK, XBMC also use Esc but for "Previous menu", Backspace is used for "Back". I hope Jason will add Esc to the "Exit" button.
You can use Windows+1 has shortcut for jumping to the first Program on your activity list. Next has 2 etc.

Even though Option 1 is more obvious, it's much less intuitive for people who have no idea what's going on. For example: Option 1, they install the flirc harmony profile, record keys, don't understand that these keys are already on the device. They delete the key, BUT that key is still mapped to the original key when they hit the button again. This then leads them back to this forum posting saying that they can't delete keys. I get a ton of emails, pull my hair out, change the way it works, and then piss everyone else off. I'm leaning towards Option 2 because of this.
Jason, when I read above, my first impression is that if the GUI was informative about below, I think many misunderstandings could be avoided and less frustration would be created if you choose implementing Option 1:
- that a native Flirc XMBC profile are available for Harmony remotes and it's enabled as default in the Flirc settings, OR let the user easily activate the native profile directly from the XBMC Controller view in Flirc
- when a user map a new code to an existing native key, ask if the user want to re-map/overwrite the native key and also provide link to more information about how it works with the native key mappings (URL to the Wiki?).
- Make it possible to re-load the native key mappings and remove the users key mappings for those. But don't touch other key mappings the user did for other remote codes.
- In general, do not show an error message for "remote key already exists" without also showing which key code that is already mapped. And why not ask the user if they want to overwrite this remote code with the new key code?
Personally, I'm also using the same Flirc together with WMC as it is my PVR, Obviously, I would also like to have a similar native Harmony profile for WMC... XBMC supports the most of the used WMC keyboard shortcuts, I would the only need to add the few XBMC specific that I personally use. Or if your native profiles can use different remote codes and both can be activated simultaneously in the Flirc device, I can easily use one XBMC and one WMC device profile in Harmony. Any chance you will implement this?

I would prefer option 1, but I would understand if you choose to implement option 2 to start with. ;)
-
I will address this over my break, don't worry.
Sounds great! Will you at the same time also add the missing keys for below buttoms?
Menu = c>ContextMenu</c>
Guide = <g mod="ctrl">ActivateWindowAndFocus(MyPVR, 31,0, 10,0)</g> (Brings up the PVR Program Guide. Just "g" doesn't work)
Exit = <escape>PreviousMenu</escape>
Previous = <backspace>Back</backspace>
Recording = (can't find the correct key when using PVR. Maybe add as "ctrl+r" as it is in WMC?)
"E" (Enter) = <enter>Select</enter>
"+" = <q>Queue</q>
And also correct "Paus" to <space>Pause</space> (is currently "Ctrl+p" in the profile which works but is for WMC)

I have a problem with the "back" button, it lets me go backwards in the meny but I cant get back to the menu when I started a film...
If you use your keyboard, is it "Backspace" that brings you back to menu or which key is it?
-
+1
-
Strange, can you test it in another computer?
-
Great, then I will try to upgrade one of my current units to rc4 as soon as I can :-)
-
The majority being this microprocessor is old. Too many limitations, every line is critical in code to timing, and it's becoming a dumb waist of my time
Any chance you will release a new hardware revision soon with a more up to date hw? I love Flirc and want to order more but will not do so until the current hw works well and it supports all the standard media keys as well as Ctrl-F etc. (I'm stuck using Windows Mediacenter as TV PVR)
-
+1 I also wait for the new firmware and support for this and the media keys...
-
+1 This is an excellent idea, I would love it! :D

Have you configured the button mappings for the Activity as well or only for the Device? You need to do both for it to work.

have you checked the issues I have dokumentet here?
Most of it should be valid for Harmony 650 as well, or are you missing something?
