  1. The new Flirc FireTV Harmony Profile does still NOT solve the issue of the Harmony sending multiple commands!

The back button is fine now but the Direction up, down etc. are all sending multiple commands on occasion now!

Still more work to be done on this I think...

Nevermind, I reproduced it. I'll try to tell logitech, but it's a harmony setting. Follow this: https://flirc.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/203390449

    Leave interkey delay at 5.

Please save your configuration, and post it here.

  3. I see this Flirc FireTV profile has already been added in the Harmony Software as I just had a look and was able to set up a new device using it.

So this should stop the Harmony remote sending commands twice or do we need to wait for the Flirc Firmware update as well?

I have not announced it yet, because they have problems with the profile.

For example, the enter key is not mapped by default to the 'ok' or select button on the remote

Also, they don't have 'back' mapped to the 'back' harmony button either. It's going to cause a lot of confusion, you need to map these manually. Can you actually tell me if that was the case? Which remote do you have?

Otherwise, yes, it will solve these problems. I have my own vendor protocol tuned for flirc.

  4. I've just bought a FLIRC today and am in the process of trying to set up with PS4.

Using the Flirc iR-USB Harmony Profile it appears no commands are loaded (as in, when I try assign a button on my remote to my FLIRC, there are no keys/commands available), so I think I will have to "teach" the Harmony for every key I want to use? Whereas the XBMC profile already has all the commands mapped it appears.

Once I get that done I'm happy to spend the time doing whatever is required.

I don't have a PS4 profile in my GUI or in the harmony. But you could help me. If you hook up a USB keyboard to your PS4, and try and figure out what keyboard keys do what functions on the playstation and put them in an excel spreadsheet, I'll get you a refund. I would need shortcuts for applications like Plex and Netflix, and Hulu, etc. They are probably all the same across applications.

For the time being, add any remote (panasonic or samsung profile) and then randomly assign keys to your remote buttons of choice. Map these in your flirc to keyboard key shortcuts you find above.

  5. Hello

I am about to give up trying to get my ortek remote to work with harmony and fire tv.

If I buy a flirc will I be able to use both context menu and info button etc on my harmony 525? Is it easy to set up?

    Thank a bunch!

Yes, I keep asking people to be a little patient. A flirc, firetv will be added to harmony in the next day or so. But even if you didn't have a harmony, it will work with any remote.

  6. ok thanks. i'm not sure you'll be able to pick one up in radioshack as i think i've had it at least 4 years and is probably EOL'd years ago. might be easier to dig thru my stuff to see if i have a different remote.

did try doing the double press thing and was able to get some of the keys working, some said already programmed and with my tests in the command shell weird things happened e.g. programmed number keys and pressed & released 3 button quickly many times and i got things like 332323232333232323232323.

fiddle with the interkey delay would fix that?

might just be easier to find another remote though :)

    Just responded here as well:

Here is a help article: https://flirc.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/201054238-Every-Second-Key-Press-Doesn-t-Work

  7. p.s. i've just updated the help article to clarify what we mean when we say record the same button twice. It wasn't clear before, thanks for pointing it out :)

    Thank you.

I found the remote on Ebay. I will be spending some time analyzing this protocol to see if I can autodetect, and do the work on my device. Going to take a bit of time, each remote is different and is most likely going to not work for every MCE remote right away.

  8. I'm creating a Flirc-firetv profile tuned for Amazon TV. Please wait for this, I apologize for the inconvenience but this should solve all the trouble you are seeing on harmony.

I just asking others to politely wait and not post any harmony problems until this is released.

I will make a new thread for other remotes and a new one for harmony.

I see what's wrong with the roku remote, and honestly, what a stupid protocol it uses. I'll get to this later.

  9. I'm using Sony VL series remotes. The problem with the repeated sendings of the "back" command is weird. I can actually hear a click when it's sent the second, third, etc. times. The first press of the button usually gets somewhat better results as it doesn't always send the Fire all the way back home or produce a series of clicks. But the second time it always does. I haven't determined how long I have to wait, but if I press the return button once, thereafter the second press produces multiple clicks and sends me back home no matter where I am or what I'm doing. But if I wait for a long time the effect goes away.

It's a weird problem and a challenge to describe. I wish I could show it to you.

Two things, when you upgrade to 3.5, did you guys re-record the back key? If you recorded before 3.5, it's not going to work, which maybe  what you are seeing.

Also, maybe you can grab your phone and upload a video to youtube. That has helped greatly in the past.
