  1. Dear Developers, I experience a strange problem with the Flirc USB2. Apparently it is not possible to assign both keyboard keys esc and backspace (latter one is designated as delete key on the full keyboard) to different buttons on my remote controller. For some reason if I record a remote controller button to the esc key than the delete key is also assigned to that remote button (in Kodi then it realy shows the escape behavior, i.e. jumpt directly to the main menu). However, if other way round I assign the delete key to my remote button, than automatically esc is also a mapped to that button (then the behavior is back, i.e. go to the upper folder). To be more specific: I am using a harmony companion remote controller having two buttons BACK and EXIT. My goal: BACK button to be assigned with the backspace key, EXIT button to be assigned with the esc key. Even more strange is, when I assign both buttons as described above and erase one button (doesn't matter which on, say EXIT) if then I try to erase the other button BACK the GUI says that this button has already been erased (which I didn't). So I really would like to ask for your support in this matter. Best greetings from Berlin
  2. I purchased Flirc USB to replace an old Microsoft eHome USB infrared receiver that I used with my custom build Windows 10 PC. My PC does not have Bluetooth. I use a Logitech Harmony Smart Control remote and have created 3 Harmony Hub activities using 4 devices: Microsoft Media PC SE, Microsoft Media Player, AVR and TV. I have customised the buttons on my remote for each activity. After installing the Flirc Windows software, I updated to the latest available firmware and confirmed that all built-in profiles have been selected. Within my Harmony Hub, I added the Flirc Media Player as a device using XBMC as the device model number. I also tried using Kodi and Flirc Media Center PC as the device model number. In all cases, my Harmony remote was able to control my AVR and TV but had no effect on my PC. I tried relocating the Flirc USB receiver from a UBS port in the back of my PC case to one in the front but this didn't change anything. I'm hoping I missed something and don't have to change any of the above-mentioned devices within my Harmony Hub activities as this would mean recreating the activates from scratch and resetting all of the custom remote buttons. If anyone has any helpful suggestions I'd love to hear them. Cheers
  3. Hi All, I recently bought a FireTV Cube and the plan was to control it with my Harmony 665. I had read on the web about the Flirc workaround to the native BT protocol used by the Cube remote and remembered that I have a Flirc G2 bought in 2017 still in the box for lack of an application. Plugged it in my Windows 8.1 and upgraded the firmware to 4.9.3 After that, I continued with the following steps: Programmed Flirc selecting the Fire TV controller and the FireTV built-in Profile In MyHarmony, I added Flirc Media Player [Flirc FireTV], then went on to assign the Flirc buttons to the remote buttons Set ADB Debugging to OFF in the Cube's settings Plugged Flirc in the OTG cable and the cable in the Cube dongle Unfortunately, it does not seem to work and was wondering if anyone could help me troubleshoot it. Did I miss/do something wrong? Is there a quick way of figuring out whether there is a problem with the Flirc unit? It seems to be responsive, I have not gotten any error messages. Thanks.
  4. Hello everybody, I´m new to this forum and I hope this is the correct question in the correct forum/section. I need some help in detail. Generally, My Harmony 650 works fine with Kodi/OSMC. My Flirc Firmware ist up to date. As I had some not-so-good-experiences with programming another remote-Crontroll (Hauppauge), I cleared all programmings in the flirc-SW. In the harmony software I chose Flirc as manufacturer and XBMC as Device. In general, my harmony rc works fine with that, except of two buttons: "volume down" and "info" don´t do anything, volume up and mute work fine! So I went to the myharmony-software and wanted to reprogram this vol. down button under "buttons". As I saw, that vol. down was assigned correctly, I didn´t change anything. Then I went to the flirc - sw and programmed the vol. down button. But it did not help. Does anybody have an advice for me? Thanks in advance! urmel
  5. Hi, I just received a new FLIRC (the new model). I'm running FW 4.05 and GUI 2.0.1 on a Asrock Z77 Pro4 (Windows 7) I'm having two problems: firstly, I can't get the FLIRC to wake the computer. I've tried enabling and disabling "Wake from USB mouse/kb" in the MB BIOS. I've also tried selecting (and deselecting) all of the "Allow device to wake from sleep" check boxes in device manager to no effect. What is weird is that my computer wakes up from sleep fine using a logitech diNovo edge bluetooth keyboard, but nothing happens through FLIRC. Additionally, and this is probably related, whenever I wake the computer from sleep using the keyboard, FLIRC is disconnected, and I need to remove it and plug it back in again. I've tried plugging it in multiple USB 2.0 and 3.0 slots, and they all produce the same error. Also, in the FAQ, I saw that sometimes power supplies can be an issue, but I've got a Seasonic PS, so I don't think that's the issue. I also made sure that "sleep detection" is checked Any ideas? I'd really like to be able to turn my computer on/off with my new harmony remote. Should I try installing 1.4.4? does that work with the newer FLIRC models? TY in advance!
  6. Hey all, I'm really keen to unlock more buttons that can be used on the firestick 4k. I have a harmony elite controller + hub, the default map with the harmony is just the basic remote that comes with the firestick. If I get a flirc (using it with an OTG cable) can I program it to then allow more key events/maps? I'm trying to use this with an IPTV app (tivimate and iMplayer) which has keys that cannot be mapped with just the standard firestick remote as there simply isn't enough if I want full functionality of the available commands. Help!
  7. Hi There, After struggling with CEC adapters and various LIRC configurations, I bought a FLIRC for my parents to use with their MythTV setup. Set up is a Mythbuntu HTPC, Logitech Harmony One, FLIRC, TV etc etc I live overseas, so I sent them instructions on what to do (and set up the Harmony profile online for them so they just had to update it). I used the Computer > HTPC > FLIRC > XBMC Harmony Profile, and mapped things that MythTV doesn't use (like switching zoom level, switching subtitles etc) for some more MythTV like functions (PIP, PIP control/swap, aspect ratio, switch tuner etc). I can't remember exactly what I used, but it won't matter for your setup. The parents set up their FLIRC with their Windows 7 PC, using full keyboard mode. I sent them a subset of the key map found in the MythTV wiki, with a list of the Harmony buttons they should program for each key. They then unplugged the FLIRC and plugged it into the Mythbuntu PC, and reported back that it was working great! Good news for them (and less troubleshooting for me). The FLIRC seems like a great product - I see there are a few questions about which Harmony profile to use on the forum - I would recommend using the XBMC one, and customising the buttons to your own individual needs, this gave a good result. Cheers, Andrew
  8. Just got my two flircs and having my first play tonight. I am using a Harmony 650 with the device set to MCE keyboard. I want to do this as I want maximum flexibility to map as many things as possible. XBMC install is Openelec 1.0.2 I am also using the full keyboard mode in flirc. I am getting a lot of 'Button already exists' errors as I try and record my remote. A by a lot - I mean, basically every button I push. Meaning I pretty much can't record anything. (Of course I know I can use plex/boxee mode with the Harmony but this defeats the whole purpose of the flirc for me). I have tried just the 'minimalist' profile to record the arrows and enter - can't even get through that. It would seem the flirc needs to have finer grained distinction between the signals - Jason - any help??
  9. I own the Shield TV 16GB 2nd Gen and the Shield TV Pro 2nd Gen (I'm not using the Flirc with the Pro as it has a built-in IR receiver). I struggled for some time to properly set up the Flirc and Harmony 650 but have found a solution that has worked for me. This is what works for me: Run the MyHarmony app. Add the device: Manufacturer: Nvidia Model: Shield The MyHarmony app will ask if it is the NVIDIA SHIELD TV. Tell it "Yes" and you should see a full array of options for the buttons. Program the MyHarmony remote's activities and buttons as desired. Adjust the Shield TV's "start" activity to include: Shield TV Home command Adjust the Shield TV's "stop" activity to include: Shield TV Back command Shield TV Home command Run the Flirc program in connect the Flirc to be programmed. Under "Controllers" select NVIDIA Shield: Program each of the functions. Under "Controllers" select Kodi: Program all functions other than the Shield functions programmed earlier.
  10. Hi, I have a weird problem with Flirc and my Logitech Harmony 350 remote. When I press a numeric key (between 0 and 9), each number could be sent one or more time. I have the following setup : Flirc firmware version 3.9.0 Flirc GUI 3.11.6 Harmony firmware to latest version, set to "Flirc Kodi" device. Interkey delay is set to 350ms, I tried to change it to 500ms without success. Input delay is set to default value (500ms). I also tried 1000ms, without success Minrepeats was set to 1, I change it to 0 without success. Finally, I tried to change Flirc interkey delay, still without success. I switched between 0, 4 and 7. Did I missed something ? How can I make numeric keys to work ? Every other keys are fine. Thanks in advance.
  11. I"m using FLIRC SE, with a linux-based Kodi HTPC build (mini ITX fanless etc). This build has been working great for a year now. The FLIRC SE is only connected to USB - without the connection to the Power Supply, as I only need it to wake the HTPC from "suspend to RAM" (S3) state, I don't need it to wake the HTPC from S5. The remote is a Harmony Hub with the simple RF remote (they call it Harmony Companion these days). I use it to control the HTPC (Kodi), the Smart TV and my Receiver. Overall, it works great but there is one annoyance thought that I could not work around after I added more than one "Activity" to the Harmony Remote. Activity 1 is "HTPC" (FLIRC) In Harmony > Setup > Devices > FLIRC > power settings, I use "Use two different buttons", and using FLIRC's programming utility, I mapped "AspectRatio" to the "wake" event. For power off, I used the programming utility to map to the "F12" key. I did this because I use some custom script that gets triggered by F12 and check if it's OK to suspend, and later trigger suspend. The FLIRC device in Harmony is setup to "Turn off when not in use" This setup works fine: HTPC suspends and wakes perfectly. Activity 2 is "Netflix", launching my smartTV's Netflix client. This activity does NOT include FLIRC in it; it only controls the TV and the Receiver. It also works fine, turning on and off just works. Here's the problem: when I turn OFF Activity 2 "Netflix", the HTPC turns ON for some reason. Eventually, Kodi's idle timer will suspend it again. But this is annoying. It seems like FLIRC is catching infrared events that the Harmony hub is sending to the TV or the Receiver, and then sending some keypress to the HTPC, and the HTPC is waking up on any keyboard keypress. Wondering if anyone ran into this issue and was able to solve it. Ideally, FLIRC should NOT be sending ANY keypress to the HTPC while the HTPC is in suspend mode except for the "Wake" keypress when it is received by IR. Is there a way to enforce this?
  12. I've got a Harmony Ultimate One and a non-Streacom case. From what I can see advised here: http://www.streacom.com/downloads/ug/flirc-se.pdf the SE board should work with any mother board that provides matching pins. What I can't work out is what generation of Flirc the SE aligns with. Gen 1 or Gen 2? The relevant page doesn't make it clear for me: https://flirc.tv/more/flirc-streacom-edition If I'm looking to deal with a Gen 1 style setup, then I'd probably pass and opt for a Gen 2 USB unit instead. Thanks in advance for the assistance.
  13. Hello! What's the manufacturer/device used to get the full keyboard profile on a harmony ultimate remote? I've done Flirc/Kodi, but that aligns to the Kodi profile (that doesn't seem to work with play/pause). I've tried various forms of Flirc/Keyboard etc. Thanks.
  14. Can some one please share detail instructions for getting Flirc working with a Logitech Harmony Remote and JRiver Media Center Software. Thanks,
  15. I'm trying to set up my Harmony One & 900 to work with my Windows 10 laptop music server, specifically Media Monkey. The only things that seem to work is the Play, Pause, OK & the up & down arrow keys. The Back button skips back a few second & the Skip button brings up the Search function, not what it's supposed to do, but that's about all that works. None of the soft keys work and many of the hard keys don't even send a signal at all. Has anyone set up their system to work with MediaMonkey, JRiver or foobar or any similar program.
  16. My setup is an Amazon firetv with a flirc and a Harmony 655 remote that have worked fine together. Recently I wanted to add a FLIRC to my HTPC with the same remote. In Harmony software I have two devices (FLIRC firetv and FLIRC kodi- they both show as flirc media player). The problem is both the HTPC and the FireTV are picking up the same commands. Which is wreaking havok on whichever device isn't currently active. Any ideas?
  17. Hi, I just received my Flirc to go with the Nvidia Shield and I'm having some configuration challenges with my Harmony 350 remote. I followed the Harmony setup guide for Flirc and I'm using the "Flirc Media Player" profile. I noticed that there are several native Kodi controls that are missing that are mapped to keyboard shortcuts. The main ones that are missing for me are the Live TV controls such as EPG or channels, page up and down, etc. I tried using the keyboard profile but Flirc isn't recognizing all of the Harmony button presses - I imagine this is why the Harmony profile was created. Here's a list of the full set of Kodi controls available through a keyboard shortcut: http://kodi.wiki/view/Keyboard_controls Does anyone know how to map the buttons that aren't in the Harmony profile? Thanks
  18. If you have been wondering on how to make Kodi work with Flirc and Harmony remotes to automatically suspend without you having to call up the shutdown menu or be stuck with the other methods that limit suspend commands to the home screen of Kodi this is how to do it with Kodi v15 at time of writing. Thx to GoodOmens for the tip though his info is a little out of date now so this is a guide on how to do it all. Kodi/Openelec Go to system information and make a note of it's IP address Turn on SSH in Kodi services Harmony Software Devices Flirc Media Player Change Device Settings Power Settings I want to turn this device off when not in use I press the same button for on and off Add command and select PowerOff (if you have messed with poweroff before finding this guide choose the fix command and reset IR code for PowerOff) Sync remote Go to Flirc software Select file clear configuration Select full keyboard Select Ctrl+F12 (as Kodi wont respond to this at least not yet) Go to devices on Harmony remote and select Flirc media player then hit the power off key to map it to Ctrl+F12 (requires harmony with display screen or map power off to physical button) From Windows Download WinSCP Select SFTP Input Kodi IP address Username = root and password = openelec Once logged in select options\preferences\panels and tick the box for “show hidden files” Browse to /storage/.kodi/userdata/keymaps folder Create a file called remote.xml Copy and paste in the text below, then save (old floppy disk icon) <keymap> <global> <keyboard> <f12 mod="ctrl">XBMC.Suspend()</f12> </keyboard> </global> </keymap> Exit WinSCP Kodi/Openelec Reboot the system (required for new xml to take effect) Now if all goes well when using Harmony activities the system should go into suspend. If you've been wondering why not just use the stock Flirc/Kodi power off command combined with the Kodi settings\power saving changing it from shutdown to suspend, this doesn't work. If you go this path the system will always wake up when using any activity and not go into suspend, the stock power off command is bugged somehow like it's being sent multiple times.
  19. Hi folks, I recently swapped out my windows based HTPC for a Shield TV. I've got it up and running no sweat and have an activity tied to my Harmony Ultimate. No problems there. However, I'm interested in understanding if my flirc is even useful at this point. Does anyone out there have any good examples of how to use flirc with a shield tv? I would love to toggle subtitles, change audio feeds, and play directly from the plex dashboard (as opposed to having to go into a film or tv episode's detail page) but I don't think that's possible. Am I wrong? If i am - and this stuff can be done - is there a guide out there? Regardless, to reiterate my earlier statement - any of you kind folks using FLIRC w. Shield TV and if so why?
  20. My question is simple the solution maybe not. My setup consists of a logitech harmony hub and logitech harmony touch remote a J4205-ITX board and a flirc 2nd gen. The problem is that flirc wakes up regardless which remote signal arrives. It does not care if its from the logitech or from the remote of the tv or any other remote or key, it wakes up. Is it possible to stop that behavior? Thanks for all answers in advance
  21. Hey guys, I'm sure its been asked but whats the best setup for using Flirc, on Plex Media Player (Embedded) + Harmony Touch on a Intel NUC 5i3? I have it setup and it turns on and off using the Intel NUC device, and Flirc controls Plex ok, but there are a few buttons missing. eg, Menu and DVR. I'd love Menu to take you back to the very first menu on PMP, is this possible? Also I've noticed a delay of like 1s when pressing a button and PMP moving. I've read the article saying its the hardware or remote, but if I use the NUC built in IR it works quicker. I've set Harmony to have 0ms delay with inputs, but the delay still remains. Not sure if I've configured it incorrectly, any ideas?
  22. Hello, there is a strange bug with the volume +/- buttons in Win10 , all works fine under Libreelec 8. Remote is Harmony 350 and V2 Flirc. Standard Flirc/Kodi setup in MyHarmony. When i try to map the volume buttons in Win10 GUI (latest firmware) under Kodi remote both of +/- are responding as volume up, green blink on volume up for both buttons. Win Kodi is also responding in same manner with volume up on both buttons. On same PC I have dualboot with Libreelec and without changing any config the +/- volume buttons works fine in Kodi under LE8. As the fault is clearly visible in latest Flirc GUI i assume it has to with the windows driver. How to proceed? / Freelance
  23. Hello, First thank you for your amazing device, it's really useful, i just get 2 new pieces :) This bug : is about a missing key, i need to use the F23 keyboard key but it's not available on the firmware, i tried v3, and v3.8 Sony Playstation 3 : Here is the keyboard command to simulate the PS Home button for the PS3 : "CTRL + Win + F23" (F23 alone may work) Sony Playstation 4 : For the PS4 there is no problem because the PS button could be simulated by the "pause" button. Infos : The "F23" keyboard key = 72(HEX) HID = 114(Decimal) HID = 134 Key code Theoretical Commands : Normally to setup/record this we should use the commands "flirc_utils record_api 9 114" or "flirc_utils record_api 0 114" or "flirc_utils record f23" But the key F23 (114 Decimal/72 Hex) is not present in the firmware the first and second command pass but when executed it does not send the F23 key, and the third command does not work because the F23 key is not on the list... i even tried key like F15 (which is present on the virtual keyboard) just to try if it work and the key is not sent too after calling the command through IR. Request : Can you please add the F23 key to your next firmware version, it would be awesome and make you product really better because we could then use the PS button. Also this would be a big selling point for people that want to use it with a PS3 Thanks a lot for your consideration.
  24. Does anyone have a CFG that they can post for an Android TV Box? I just bought the Xiaomi Mi box and a Harmony 650 remote and the BACK and HOME keys do not work. Thanks
  25. I don't know if I'm doing something (or have done something) wrong or if my Flirc device is simply defective. I've looked at a bunch of the FAQs and various Forum posts and found lots of semi-relevant stuff, but no clear answers to my Flirc problem(s), so I decided it was best to start a new topic and explain things from the beginning... I just bought a Flirc-USB to use with a HarmonyOne remote and a FireTV box. As I understood (or misunderstood?) the Flirc website, the Flirc-USB should work straight out of package for my setup (w/no Flirc custom programming) by setting up Harmony Device using its programming tool, choosing Flirc under Media Center, and thennaming it Kodi or XBMC (not clear if name choice is even important). However, when I loaded the new programming into the HarmonyOne and tried to control FireTV, nothing would happen. I next tried using the Flirc GUI (v1.4.4) on Windows 7 Pro/64-bit. After fighting through some of the problems others have also had with getting things the GUI up and running (such as keyboard and mouse going dead), the GUI seems to communicate with the Flirc-USB because it understands when the Flirc is plugged into a USB port and – using Force FW Upgrade under File>Advanced – it claimed to upgrade the Flirc's firmware from version 3.6 to 3.8. (I should mention that along the way, I also tried some of the stuff above and below on a Windows 10 computer.) Yet, when I tried to program a key, the GUI gave no indication that programming was working... the selected key just kept flashing after I pressed a button on the remote. I tried different keys and different remote buttons (even under different Controllers choices) and none gave any feedback to indicate that programming was working. When I'd re-click the key on the GUI with my mouse (or choose a different key), it would say "Recording stopped," but there was certainly no visual feedback to show it was seeing the button-presses on the remote. Then (not thinking it might be a destructive step) I decided I'd better erase anything I'd done and start over, so I used File>Clear Configuration. It wasn't until then that I started wondering "maybe the GUI isn't designed to provide feedback that a button has been pressed?" If that was the case, perhaps programming actually was working? I tried to test that possibility by... saving a configuration file, programming a few more keys (or at least trying to),saving a second configuration file, and thencomparing the two files (in a couple of different ways). There was no difference between the two files and both were only 5-bytes long. When I saw how small the files were, I realized the Clear Configuration I'd done might have been destructive and that the built in Controller profiles might be gone. So, QUESTION#1 is do I need to do something to restore the Flirc to factory defaults? Even if Clear Configuration was destructive, the programming of keys using the GUI doesn't seem to be doing anything, so something very basic seems to be wrong. QUESTION#2a: What is the correct behavior of Flirc programming GUI: Should I be able to see visual feedback when I press remote button? QUESTION#2b: If there isn't visual feedback, what's the easiest or most definitive way to tell if it's working? QUESTION#3: How can I best test if my Flirc-USB is defective? And, the main question, of course, is where can I find the most complete guidance for a Flirc novice on getting up and running with the combination of hardware I described?
