  1. I updated the remote to 4.12.23. Prior to the update, I don't recall the version that was on the remote but the batteries lasted ~2.5 months. With 4.12.23, the new batteries lasted ~2 weeks. In addition, the remote has locked up several times and required the batteries removed to restore operation.

Hi - sorry to snipe this thread, but having the same issue with my AppleTV4K and the skip1s blinking the led on the front of the ATV, but no actions being taken.  I do not know how to/where to import the json, but have the remote, and the USB both plugged into PC.  I also have been using a Harmony1 with this setup for years and it's finally kicking the bucket, so moving to this slick new universal!  Attaching my config file here.

    Office.skip 247.42 kB · 0 downloads

If I remember correctly, the remote has to be in administrative mode. There's a config file that you place in one of the Skip's file folders. Check out the threads on importing json files. You are then able to import json files. Jason's response above (25th) has the json file that you import and then assign the "unpair" button to one button. It should then work correctly. Your other remote is locking out the Skip.

  3. I have a Gen1 Flirc and has been working fine. Opened app this am and said there was a firmware update (3.27.5). Loaded update and when I plug the Flirc into the usb port, the app closes. I rebooted windows (11) with the same results. Without the Flirc plugged in, the app does show that it is running 3.27.5. Plug the Flirc in, app closes.

Are you supposed to be able to assign actions to the colour button>central button and them work?

I just ran into the same issue and I believe the center button only shows the remotes color. I moved the center button cmd to another color button to verify that I had the correct cmd for my device and it did work with the other button.

So I finally stumbled on how to unpair a remote

I assume the ATV remote is paired to the ATV box. When the Logitech was added it created its' own pair and locked out other 3rd party remotes (i.e. Skip) from working. Is that what was going on? Just wanted to understand why the Logitech prevented the Skip from working. Is it just with Logitech you would see this or any 3rd party remote?

I think I got it. Import this.

    You did! Buttons all work.

So, to summarize, why did the ATV lock out the Skip? I went back to using the Apple TV Gen 4 (media mgr) device code and all buttons map correctly. You may want to add the "unpair" option to this device code for others having the same issue.

Do appreciate the great support in resolving this.

do you have a harmony or any other IR remote that may work on the apple TV?

A few days ago I tried a Harmony 700 IR remote and it worked fine with my ATV (responded  to all button presses).  For some reason, the Skip is locked out. It would be a major job to reload all the apps if I did a reset. Only have 1 ATV.

"It's gotta be something on their side". Don't disagree with that but why the Logitech works and the Skip doesn't is the question. The fact that it does work with some  (or most) ATV's leads to your conclusion that it's something on their side. The issue here is that a majority of users are going to be in same camp as me and won't want to reset their ATV if this does resolve the issue.

Doing a little online research, I believe the ATV can only be paired with one ATV remote at a time. Wondering if maybe the Skip is mimicking a ATV remote and thus locked out. Doesn't explain why some work and others don't, but thought I would throw it out there.

US, the 4 above. What's odd is that I'm not the only one having this issue. I've played around with all the ATV settings with no change.......Why it works on some boxes and not others is the question of the day.

    Windows and Mac

Looks like it didn't linkify the whole thing and was not including the token. Try again or copy and paste the entire url.

Yep see that now. I was able to update the app and added the Json files. Tried all with the Apple TV. Unfortunately, same results; ATV blinks when sending commands but nothing happens.

There is also a bug on the import page if you click on an item, it shows the wrong file on the right and you'll eventually crash the app. This is fixed in the latest nightly which I'll probably release tomorrow because it's pissing me off. Here is a copy:

    http://update.flirc.tv/skipapp/nightly/0.9.92.6338/SkipApp-0.9.92.6338-Nightly-x64.msix?token=skipAppUpdate

Jason, when I go to the above link it asks for a user name and password. Neither my forum or site logins work.

I have a Logitech Harmony 700 IR remote that I set up with my ATV to see if another third party remote would work. It controls all the mapped functions with the buttons correctly. So I'm at a loss why the Logitech works and the Skip doesn't. Timing between repeats, maybe... Also, doesn't explain why some ATV 2022 work fine and others don't.....

It's the appletv, not the remote. For now, you can go 'learn' new remote in your apple tv.

I have one idea I can try outside of this, but will need some time.

Already tried that... 2 or 3 keys are accepted and then says keys are already in use. Some ATV 4k (2022) users are having this issue, others are not. I've played around with all the settings with no luck......

I am also on 16.5.  The only thing that I could find that might be related is I have turned off all restrictions including the remote pairing but that seems to be bluetooth related?  Not sure 100%.

Hopefully you all can get this sorted - this remote is great with Apple TV and especially when holding down buttons - the repeat is great which is largely the reason I bought it.

Went back through the ATV settings and I have all restrictions off as well. I cleared the remote back to factory defaults and cleared activities. Reloaded and same results. Are you using the "set top box" device for the ATV? Apple TV Gen4 (media manager) maps all the ATV buttons. ATV flashes as IR is sent from the Skip but nothing happens. AVR buttons are working so I know at least that the Skip IR is working at some level.

Setup the remote last night and magically everything worked on 1st attempt.  Maybe I should purchase a lottery ticket because these things never go this easy!

FWIW I am GEN 4 Apple TV.

What version of ATV OS are you using? I have 16.5. Anything enabled in the Home Theater Control settings? Probably is a setting in the ATV......

  15. Is there any other config data that you need? I have 3 devices in activity A; LG CX TV, Onkyo TX-RZ50, and Apple TV 4K (2022). Both the LG and Onkyo power up and am able to control the volume with the Skip. The ATV sends IR (flashing front panel LED on the ATV) but doesn't change anything. Both Apple device codes respond the same.

  16. Posted on Skip1s sub forum "Apple 4K + Device Parameters".

1 Activity, 3 devices. Onkyo TX-RZ50 AVR, LG CX TV, Apple TV 4K(2022). I was able to power on the LG and AVR. Adjust Volume and mute (AVR) with current device codes. Apple TV has only 2 device codes and both respond the same; ATV sees IR when pressing any of the mapped buttons but does nothing. ATV setting, Skip code mismatch, or something else I'm missing??

  17. Haven't found an Onkyo code thus far that maps all the buttons on the TX-RZ50 RX (RC-972R remote.... same remote is used for the TX-NR7100 and TX-NR6100).

The 2 Apple TV device codes are not working with my ATV (2022). ATV sees the IR but does not change anything. I had posted on the Skip1s forum and see another user with the ATV is seeing the same issue.
