adahmen Posted February 19, 2018 Report Posted February 19, 2018 Hi, is it possible to send a long press keyboard signal (like long press F1 or long press ESC) to the attached device with a Flirc V1? To be clear ... I don't want to use log key press on a remote button ... the Flirc device should simulate a long key press on the virtual keyboard. Best regards, Albert Quote
yawor Posted February 19, 2018 Report Posted February 19, 2018 As long as you hold the remote button pressed, Flirc should also keep the keyboard key pressed. Quote
adahmen Posted February 20, 2018 Author Report Posted February 20, 2018 This will not solve my problem. I have the following situation: - ESC on keyboard = Exit - Long ESC on keyboard = Power On/Off I want to assign the first option (ESC) to one key on my harmony remote and the other option (long ESC) to another key on my harmony remote Quote
yawor Posted February 20, 2018 Report Posted February 20, 2018 Unfortunately this is not possible. At least not right now. What exactly are you trying to use Flirc with? Quote
adahmen Posted February 20, 2018 Author Report Posted February 20, 2018 I try to use Flirc with the following setup: - Dreambox Sat Receiver - Logitech Harmony Elite Dreambox will support a keyboard to control the receiver ... but unfortunately 2 functions are mapped to long press keys. Any ideas how to solve this issue? Quote
yawor Posted February 21, 2018 Report Posted February 21, 2018 Is there a reason why you're not using the ir receiver built into the dreambox? Quote
adahmen Posted February 21, 2018 Author Report Posted February 21, 2018 Yes, the combination of Harmony and the internal ir receiver is not perfect as the original remote ... Quote
yawor Posted February 22, 2018 Report Posted February 22, 2018 Then maybe you could use everything except power off through Flirc, but use only the power off from the original remote. I don't have the Harmony so I'm not 100%, but AFAIK it should be possible to do. Quote
adahmen Posted February 22, 2018 Author Report Posted February 22, 2018 Yes, that is indeed a good option :-) On the other side ... a long press button could be an additional feature of Flirc and shouldn't be a problem Quote

Best regards, Albert The sending of a long press is the remote sending not the software. I tested a Rosewill RC-126 and sending long keyboard presses are possible on both v1 and v2 of the flirc. However, harmony 600/650/700 remotes only can send a long press via the power Buttons using duration. To assign a Long Press to the Harmony's you add an extra device any name like "Long Press" - Harmony with ask you to press keys on the "original" remote Can be any old Infra-red Remote. Tell harmony the device stays on - uses same button - then customize button Duration to 1.5 sec and make sure t=you add the extra device to your firetv activity and program guide or menu to the long press - powertoggle. Also, programming an long press within the flirc software breaks ok using a harmony remote. Edited May 19, 2018 by tinafici Quote
