  1. Hi all, I’ve just gotten my Skip1s and USB bundle. Really excited and trying to get things set up, but I’m running into a problem I can’t seem to solve. Issue: Can’t control Plex via Skip1s as programmed in Skip app Set up: Skip1s programmed “PC” for “Flirc” and “Plex” in Skip app v0.9.956 beta. Synced to “A” Activity button FLIRC USB and software v3.27.10 Windows 11 Pro Plex HTPC v10.0.22631 Observations: Controls as programmed via the settings synced from Skip app to “A” activity don’t trigger the expected behaviour in Plex. I am able to program some aspects of Plex controls with Skip1s via FLIRC USB software, but not all (so obviously not desirable long term). When no settings are programmed in FLIRC USB software and the device log is set to “Enable IR Debugging”, IR signals from Skip1s are detected. Activity “B” settings for TV and Soundbar work as programmed in Skip app. FLIRC USB doesn’t show in Windows Device Manager, including, hidden devices. Attempted remedies: Full system restart Powered Skip1s off/on via removal of batteries for >10 minutes Moved FLIRC USB to multiple alternative usb ports, including a usb hub, front panel and mobo backplate I/O. Program desired settings to activities “B” and “C” via Skip app Reset Skip1s settings in Skip app, used Skip app on alternative windows machine to set up Skip1s as a new device. Used FLIRC USB and software on alternative machine. Outcome: Issue persists, namely, input via Skip1s remote results in no action in Plex. Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I love this product already, I just want to make this work and it’ll be perfect.
  2. Hi folks, I received my nice new Flirc Skip 1S remotes yesterday and excitedly got down to setting them up on my ‘most straight forward’ configuration (A TV and a Kodi Box). An hour later, I was stumped. After a few searches on the forums, I didn’t find any obvious fixes, so I spent a rainy Saturday figuring this out for the community. Here are my conclusions and also a few Bug Fix requests for the Flirc team at the end... 3. 4. Dear Sir/Madam, I have been using a FLIRC Gen 1 to enable an old universal remote to control Kodi on my Raspberry Pii for a number of years. I have just replaced my controller with a One For All Essence remote and need to reprogram the FLIRC keys, which I haven't needed to do for a long time. I have connected the Flirc to a Windows 10 Home pc but device manager showed it could not find the driver. I followed an older forum post to resolve (https://support.flirc.tv/hc/en-us/articles/200712548-Using-the-ZADIG-Utility) using ZADIG, which enabled me to install a working driver. However when I install the latest app it shows the FLIRC as being disconnected. I have tried on two different windows 10 PCs now and it is the same on both. Please can you assist? (NOTE: I'm not very techy so may need a more detail instructions or advise than most). Many thanks in advance.
  5. So it took me forever to figure out how to wake and suspend Kodi using Flirc Usb and Logitech Harmony Hub and Alexa. These are not step by step instructions but you can google how to do it. 1. In Kodi, install the keymapper addon and use it to map the f12 or any key you would like to hibernate or suspend Kodi. Once setup, when you hit the f12 key while in Kodi your pc should suspend. 2. Install a new device in harmony hub app using manufacturer Flirc, Model Kodi. Once created, Edit the device, select power settings, and select turn off when not in use, use a single button to power on and off, and select the power off button as the button that will turn it on and off. 3. Once the device is created in the harmony hub app, Open the device and you will see a power button. Leave this open 4. Open the flirc GUI, select full keyboard as remote and select the f12 key in the flirc software to program it, it will turn green. When it asks to press a button on the remote, press the power button you just created In the harmony app that you left open above. This will send an ir signal from the harmony hub that will program the flirc usb 5. Now when in Kodi, if you hit the f12 button it will suspend. When you hit the power button in the Flirc device it will also make Kodi suspend. In addition, if you go into device manager and go to the properties tab of the flirc usb (listed as hid keyboard) And click power Management. Make sure That only “allow this device to wake the computer” is checked. If this is Setup properly and your motherboard allows wake from suspend, when you press the power button it will also wake your hibernated pc! If you have two hid keyboards, remove the flirc usb and the one you want will disappear. If you have a keyboard also attached, and it wakes your computer when you press a key, you can deactivate this same way by entering power management for your keyboard and uncheck “allow this device to wake computer”. 6. Now once this is all working you can create an activity in the harmony approach turn on pc. 7. Once the harmony activity is working in the harmony app, if you add the alexa skill harmony By Logitech and link your harmony account to Alexa, it will create a scene in Alexa. When you say turn on PC, or whatever you named the device in Harmony, it will wake your pc.when you say Alexa turn off pc it will suspend. hope this helps!

I have successfully programmed the flirc usb from a windows 10 laptop. I verified the programming using the GUI and all is ok. I then connected the flicr to a raspberry Pi4 and was able to communicate properly with it. However, when I power down and back up again, the flirc is losing some keys and I have to reprogram. Am I doing something wrong?
  7. I have two gen 1 usb controllers (currently hooked up to Fire TVs). I am trying to switch to Shield TVs and I can't get them to work. Is the gen 1 not compatible?
  8. Hey- I'd like to start here by saying that I really appreciate the Flirc project and it seems like really nice hardware. I've been an HTPC enthusiast for about 14 years, and it's great to see new products that cater to folks that are interested in DIY home theater gadgets. That said, I have a problem. My Flirc USB sat in the box (unopened) for a few weeks before I got time to set it up (I just moved into a new house and have been really busy). I finally got around to setting it up, and I can't get it to receive any IR signals. At first I thought I just misunderstood how to program it. I'm using a Harmony 700 remote using the Flirc Kodi profile, so I didn't program the Flirc at all at first. It wouldn't respond to the remote, so I decided I'd try to program it. The Flirc software recognizes the unit and shows a "connected" status. I was also able to force a firmware update (tried this thinking it might reset a possible bad flash from the factory). I can't, however, get the device to learn (or "pair") any remote commands. The software says, "please press the button..." and I point the remote at the device and press buttons, but the software doesn't acknowledge reception of any signals. I've tried this on 4 different PCs using 3 different remotes now (tried my TV remove and my cable box remote just to rule out a Harmony issue) and get the same results. At this point I'm thinking that my Flirc unit is defective. I contacted support via the support form on the Flirc web site about a week ago and haven't received a reply (aside from the automated "message received" e-mail I got immediately). I understand that there's just one guy responding to these, so I've been patient. I'm getting really antsy to get this resolved, though, as I really need an IR receiver at this point. I need IR receivers for 3 more devices, but I wanted to audition the Flirc before buying 4 of them. Now I'm thinking I should just go another route. Anyone have any suggestions for IR receivers that can wake up a machine from sleep? I could buy a cheesy IR keyboard, but I really only need the receiver. Thanks everyone!
