  1. Hi,

As you have noticed it's not a problem with the Flirc itself as the normal keyboard is also not able to wake up your hardware. I don't know the Zotac brand so I can't tell you for sure what the problem is. You should definitely check your BIOS settings and maybe check if there is a BIOS upgrade. If this is a normal x86/x64 hardware then you could try running a Windows on it and check if it's able to configure wake up for USB devices properly.

I was able to figure it out wish I saw this post sooner...

I noticed there was a BIOS upgrade to fix an issue with wake on usb I'm not sure if this helped or not but I did manage to get it working.

I had to run the following commands for all my usb ports 1 through 7.

    echo enabled > /sys/bus/usb/devices/usb1/power/wakeup

    echo enabled > /sys/bus/usb/devices/usb2/power/wakeup

I was then able to wake up using my keyboard I then programmed the wake button to my harmony plugged in the FLIRC device and was able to wake it up also.

I added the usb wake commands to the rc.local and I'm all set!

  2. I can't seem to get my zotac out of suspend mode by using the usb port while having a usb keyboard plugged in or using FLIRC. I have tried in the past but gave up and decide to kick the tires again but with no such luck.

I have followed the guide posted on the wiki:

    Archive:HOW-TO:Enable_Wake-On-Device_for_Ubuntu (wiki)

Here is a what the lsusb command looks like:

Here is the output of the cat /proc/acpi/wakeup command:

All USB devices seem to be enabled but I am not able to resume using FLIRC or even a keyboard.

Any guidance or help would be appreciated.

  3. Thanks Jason, that did the trick! Can't believe I went through all that trouble and didn't realize there was a built in wake button.

I have been having issues getting my zotac to suspend and wake up using the flirc device.

Would you be able to provide the steps you followed to get it working?

I am using xbmcbuntu I also tried enabling wake on usb on the usb ports but that didn't seem to work for me.

    Hey Guys,

Just got my Flirc loving it so far just having some issues getting wake on USB working on my XBMC HTPC.

I have followed the instructions by ariflirc in the How to forums but haven't been able to wake up my HTPC using my harmony and flirc IR receiver.

I have added the code if anyone could assist that would be very helpful!

  5. Turns out I just had to enable Built-in Profile under Advanced options after doing that plugged the flirc right into my zotac and boom I am able to control my XBMC with my harmony remote.

I have been turning on my HTPC using Wake on Lan I was wondering if there was anyway to enable a feature that would allow me to also turn on the HTPC.

I do notice that in the sequence for the activity I have setup that the HTPC is not a power on or off option.

  6. Hey,

I'm just trying to get my HTPC functioning with my Harmony Ultimate One remote.

I updated the firmware on the flirc to version 2.6 which I believe is the latest, setup the device on myharmony application using the flirc xbmc profile.

But when I plug in the flirc device into my zotac which is running xbmcbuntu there is no response from the remote.

I was wondering if I could get a hand with this I know there definitely is a step I am missing.

    Any help would be appreciated!
