I am having an issue where no PC can connect to my remote. I know there have been a few threads about it and I think I have tried everything in them including removing the batteries and holding the OK and back buttons. I think my issue is that my remote is over a year old and has not been updated since I set it up. I assume the firmware is to far out dated but I could be wrong about that assumption. Can someone please help me get it connected? I do have steam on 2 of the tested machines, which I saw could be an issue. I tested on a fresh install of Windows 11 without Steam or Logitech, which I saw was another possible issue.

Any suggestions would be helpful, I can install Linux or create a VM of Windows 10 if needed.

It sounds like you've covered a lot of troubleshooting steps already. Considering the age of your remote, updating the firmware could indeed be the key. Have you checked for any firmware updates on the manufacturer's website? Also, trying a different machine without Steam or Logitech might help isolate the issue.

Thanks for the reply, I have tried a fresh Windows install without any software at all but the FLIRC app and no dice. As for firmware, I am sure there is an update but how can I install it if no machine can see the remote? Any ideas? I am willing to try anything at this point.

Hi Dave, not much help but hopefully this will gain more views if we are together, I'm the same as you I think, had the remote since the Kick starter and now comming back to make changes, my remote also changes back to activity "a" on its own, I had seen a firmware bump to fix this and not gotten around to it, but are having the same issues also I have steam and Logitech items so maybe both issues pressent.

I'm currently setting up a debian machine to try the app image on that I will report back with what I find

I have attempted VMS for both debien and fedora but Im having display issues in both hence the metal install I'm on with now

Thanks for the reply, sorry to hear I am not the only one but also not if it means we can get some support.

I may do the same thing and install a Linux derivative of some sort and give it a try. If you do get around to it let me know either way and I will do the same.

right so ive been on and off all day with this, i have just stumbled across this post - the linux builds i attempted where basic ubuntu, Debian, fedora and popOS all with some quirks to displaying the app etc but non would update the remote firmware.

although not related to software issues etc, i followed instructions to get the remote into DFU mode relaunched the latest software on my original desktop and to my surprise it auto updated to the latest firmware with ir learning and all working as should !!

so now onto reprogramming as needed

fingers crossed this helps you also dave

That's great I am happy one of us is good. How did you successfully get into DFU mode? I tried the 2 buttons (ok and back I think it was) without the battery and connect to USB but that didn't work for me. Did you do something different?

betteries out, center on the d pad and back hold them till usb in and a little after then it was in dfu mode - held remote in right hand and had it with usb facing left hand so as to not knock any other buttons.  the second the usb went in got three red flashes on the ring - i missed this the first couple of tries, once in dfu mode any button presses makes the ring flash red three times

OK so I had tried that before and had no luck, had the flashing LED ring and all. I tried it again and had the same issue until I ran the "Driver tool" referenced in this post by Jason on the December 21st. After I ran that and had the remote in DFU it picked it up right away and updated successfully and is now showing up in the Skip App. It would be nice if that tool was either included in the download or at least referenced along with the download link as a "in case your PC doesn't see the remote try this" or something. In  any case, thank you for the help as it at least let me know how to tell if it was in DFU mode.
