Schoops Posted December 15, 2025 Report Posted December 15, 2025 I can't find a list of supported devices, so I'll try my luck here. Will the Skip 1s support my Kogan Q97T TV and my Sonos Playbar? Thanks! Quote

My SKIP arrived today and I have been trying to get it working with my Kogan Q97T. Unfortunately I've had no luck with the listed Kogan models. The only time I was able to get a reaction from the TV was when I selected Code Group 7 (TV), and in that config pressing Volume Down toggled the power, while Power Toggle took me to Live TV. Is there anything more I can try? Quote

I have been through the record process but at no point did it have me actually record the signal from the original remote to the Flirc. I designed a new remote and registered all the buttons, but I was left thinking, how does this actually get the IRF frequency from the original remote? A long process that unfortunately yielded nothing for me. Quote
Schoops Posted December 18, 2025 Author Report Posted December 18, 2025 Ok, so I watched the instructional video at Recording new remote controls with the Skip 1s and immediately saw how I was doing it wrong. In the Record phase I had no idea that you needed to position the two remotes head to head and press the buttons on the original remote. So I did that. I went through the Design step again and setup my Kogan Q97T remote. Then I went to Record, put the remotes together and pressed Power on the original remote. Nothing. The actual tv turned on behind me but Skip App didn't respond. I tried several other buttons on the original remote. No recognition from the app. So now I see that the Kogan remote is not IR. Does the Skip App Record process only work for IR? If so, am I stuck? Quote
Solution Schoops Posted December 18, 2025 Author Solution Report Posted December 18, 2025 Crisis over! I worked it out. There are two quirks with the Kogan remote. Firstly, the IR emitter works on a slight angle, so from face up on a desk it's not visible. I worked this out my holding my phone camera to it. Secondly, the remote is a combination bluetooth with what appears to be IR as a fallback. I got the sense that there was two way comms between the TV and the remote, and if the BT signal was successfully received then the IR was disabled. I ended up unplugging the TV, then removing and replacing the remote batteries, effectively rebooting it. This rebooting step wasn't enough by itself. I'd get just one button done before IR would shut down. The TV needed to be unplugged (or perhaps I could have done it from the other end of the house, out of BT range from the TV). Then, holding the Kogan remote on an angle, I was able to finally record all buttons. Thanks for your help. It was mostly just a learning curve for me and negotiating Kogan quirks. I will say this though, I think the instructions are somewhat unclear regarding the record process. I may have missed it, but I don't think there was any time when the app gave an indication that the two remotes needed to be brought together. This was further confused by the fact that the record process happily accepts you presseing the Step 1 buttons, making you (me at least) think that you're doing it correctly. Quote

I don't think I would have guessed turning your TV off. I'll improve the experience for sure. Thanks again. Quote
