i do have phantom keypresses although my mini PC (GMKtec G3 plus) is hidden in a box in a cupboard. I am using the FLIRC adapter under current LibreELEC with a Skip 1s remote. Most of the time, it seems to receive a "move right" keypress so that

• in menus, the selection moves right to the next item
• in videos, the video skips 10 seconds

which is quite annoying as you may understand.

This is most likely IR noise or double input from enabled Flirc profiles, not a firmware issue (v4.10.7 is current). You can disable all profiles, re-record the keys, add an interkey delay, and move Flirc outside the cupboard using a USB extension to reduce noise.

Have you tried adjusting the sensitivity settings on your FLIRC adapter to reduce the phantom keypresses? I had a similar issue with my setup, and tweaking those settings helped a lot. Also, have you considered using a different remote control to see if the problem persists?

No, as the remote control is brand new (which of course does not mean it is in order). But those phantom keypresses occur even when I hide the remote control so I assume it must have something to do with the FLIRC adapter itself and / or some irregular IR transmissions from somewhere else.

In the meantime, I have taped the adapter and its surrounding (while still including an IR extension cable) with several layers of adhesive film. That dramatically reduced this phenomenon but it still happens once in a while. Could be that there is another device in the living room which may spread IR noises.

The phantom “Right arrow / skip 10 seconds” issue with FLIRC is usually caused by IR noise or key repeat, not another remote. The firmware you’re using (v4.10.7) is already the latest stable version.

I’d troubleshoot in this order:

• Check for IR noise: cover the FLIRC receiver → if the issue stops, it’s interference
• Clear and reprogram mappings: flirc_util delete, then record keys once only
• Adjust repeat handling: try flirc_util interkey_delay 3 (tune between 2–6)
• Reposition the receiver: even small placement changes or using a USB extension can help
• Update firmware via FLIRC GUI (your version is a bit outdated)

If the problem still persists, the Skip 1s remote is likely sending repeated signals that FLIRC reads as multiple “right” presses.

Go to File->Advanced and disable all the built in profiles.
