How Program Middle Button of White Apple Remote Control to Act as Play/Pause Button for VLC?

Featured Replies

How do I program the middle button of my traditional white Apple remote control to act as a play/pause button for watching video on VLC? Neither the "Minimalist" nor the "Media Keys" Controllers allows me to do this, nor can I find anything in the VLC preferences that helps.

Seems like this should be a pretty straightforward thing to program. Thank you!

Whatever keyboard key is used to start and stop playback on VLC. I think traditionally it's 'spacebar'

Try going to the full keyboard view and using that keyboard key. Let us know. I should make a VLC shortcut window as well as Jellyfin. Name any others as well.

Ah OK! I was able to go to the "Full Keyboard" controller and link the center play/pause button on my Apple remote to the space bar on the keyboard in VLC.

I have used Flirc before with another computer (and another old Apple remote) and I had it set up this way, so I must have known how to set it up before but forgot.

Thanks for your help!

The Flirc USB remote control device is a great product--thanks again.
