Re-Installed Windows 11 due to System Crash: How to Transfer Remote Config from Remote to Skip App

Hello Jason

I Hope you are Well.

My HTPC Crashed requiring a Full Re-Install of Windows 11.

When I Installed the Latest Skip App, obviously the Remote is not present.

Is it possible to Transfer the Configuration from the Skip 1s Remote into the Skip App, or am I going to have to Setup from Scratch, hopefully not.

Thanks in advance

Kevin

I recently had a similar issue and had to rebuild from scratch. See @jason' s note here.

This is a good time to ask if application configuration backups are on the horizon, such that if the app is re-installed elsewhere, all your remote settings would follow for each of your remotes.

Hope you get it sorted! Usually, configuration transfer depends on whether the app supports cloud backup or export/import—worth checking before setting up from scratch

Unfortunately, from my experience, the Skip app doesn’t currently support transferring configurations from one device to another. I had to set everything up again from scratch after a reinstall as well. I agree with you and @khaoohs that having a backup feature for remote settings would be a huge help. Hopefully, the developers are working on that for future updates.

Yeah, you must export the configuration in order to reload it. Although something can be pulled off the remote, it wouldn’t be enough to reconstruct the GUI. We’ll do cloud backups once we hit 1.0.
