Hi all. I've been using Flirc USB for many years. First it was attached to my PC and bound to Windows media keys while I could use IR learning of with my other devices. All worked flawlessly, I could use 4 devices (TV, BR, PC, audio) with 1 standard remote. That was the utopia era. Things changed, now I got 4 remotes for what used to be 1.

My biggest issue right now is that I cannot control the volume of my miniDSP SHD by any other remote than its own. It no longer has the IR learning function. I cannot access it's ssh console and there are no free USB ports so that I cannot plug the receiver there. However, it's got Volumio 3 and there is a REST API that I can call. So in Windows I can use command prompts like curl "http://minidsp-shd/api/v1/commands/?cmd=volume&volume=plus"

How to call these commands with Flirc USB?

I plug the receiver to my Windows machine, which is powered on most of the time. I made .cmd files that change the volume with http calls and that works when manually executed. Next I created shortcuts of them and bind a Windows shortcut key to it. That does nothing. I tried downloading AutoHotkey, which quite nicely relays commands when pressing keys on a keyboard, but only when Windows is on desktop, not when locked. I opened Flirc app and managed to record a shift+ctrl+alt+u to my TV remote vol up. Now when pressing volume key on that remote, it will 1/10 times do as expected and the delay is unbearable. Learning IR commands in the app works with each try (althou I cannot know what it reads). As if the USB receiver did not read my TVs remote properly or fails to relay the commands. My TV is a ~2 yo TCL, it's got a bluetooth remote that I switched to IR mode in order to control volume. I can get a small sbc like raspberry pi for this duty if I can get a proof of concept working. I have never tried Flirc USB on RPi though.

What should I do? I'm out of ideas how to get this working. It would help me so much that I would buy the IR receiver again just to get this vol up/down working.

Before trying I updated my Flirc app to version 3.27.16 and my usb receiver firmware was also updated to 4.10.5. Advanced menu identifies it as SKU: Flirc 2.0 [dori].

Please have a look at the post below which will link to a detailed writeup on how to do a macro for curl commands. In the article, the curl commands are different, but the concept is the same.

You can either use Windows or Linux on the Pi.
