Can't export older configs

I've been using the Skip 1s for almost a year now and everything has been great.  I recently got a new device and I wanted to update my remote to control it.  I installed the Skip App, plugged in the remote, and the app is treating this like a new device.  I tried exporting the configuration from the device, but all I get is the "Empty default config".  Am I stuck setting everything up again?

If I unplug the remote, it still works fine so the config is still on the device.  I get the same results with these two versions of the app

    Configure browser push notifications
    Chrome (Android)
    1. Tap the lock icon next to the address bar.
    2. Tap Permissions → Notifications.
    3. Adjust your preference.
    Chrome (Desktop)
    1. Click the padlock icon in the address bar.
    2. Select Site settings.
    3. Find Notifications and adjust your preference.
