Is record supposed to work on linux?

Featured Replies

Hi!

Tried the SkipApp-0.9.982.8843-Beta-x64.AppImage for linux. While the remote connects as such, but the record button stays grayed out.

Could it be that record is not yet supported?

On startup I get the following library complaints. Are there something to worry about here or? Maybe something that might explain why record stays grayed out.

$ ~/skip-app_0.9.982+8843_amd64.AppImage

WebKit wasn't able to find a WebVTT encoder. Not continuing without platform support for subtitles.

Btw., I'm using debian testing.

If the GUI loads fine, it's fine.

It's grayed out because you must be on an old version of firmware or it's old version of the GUI. What version do you have for both?

Hi!

Here is what I could find:

Remote Model: SKIP.1S.RELEASE.A05
Serial Number: 7B0B711B5055344A3525E3120FF17230A
Firmware Version: 4.12.6-0-g60dd93b

GUI version: The latest I think. Downloaded SkipApp-0.9.982.8843-Beta-x64.AppImage.tar.gz today and have used that version.

App downloaded from here...

Maybe there are newer versions around?

Hi!

How do you update the firmware on the remote? Was able to set connect the remote in DFU mode, following some instruction elsewhere on this forum.

$ lsusb
...
Bus 001 Device 009: ID 20a0:0007 Clay Logic Skip 1s (DFU Mode)

Also had to add the following udev rule:

SUBSYSTEM=="hidraw", ATTRS{idVendor}=="20a0", ATTRS{idProduct}=="0007", MODE="0666"

in order to be able to connect to the remote as a regular user.

But what is the next step? Nothing special happens when I start the application as such. The remote shows up in the application.
The "Firmware Version" line show "undefined" (or something similar).

Could it be that the remote must be updated using some DFU tool? In that case where do we find the firmware to install?
