  1. I own the Shield TV 16GB 2nd Gen and the Shield TV Pro 2nd Gen (I'm not using the Flirc with the Pro as it has a built-in IR receiver). I struggled for some time to properly set up the Flirc and Harmony 650 but have found a solution that has worked for me. This is what works for me: Run the MyHarmony app. Add the device: Manufacturer: Nvidia Model: Shield The MyHarmony app will ask if it is the NVIDIA SHIELD TV. Tell it "Yes" and you should see a full array of options for the buttons. Program the MyHarmony remote's activities and buttons as desired. Adjust the Shield TV's "start" activity to include: Shield TV Home command Adjust the Shield TV's "stop" activity to include: Shield TV Back command Shield TV Home command Run the Flirc program in connect the Flirc to be programmed. Under "Controllers" select NVIDIA Shield: Program each of the functions. Under "Controllers" select Kodi: Program all functions other than the Shield functions programmed earlier.
  2. Apologies if this has been covered before but I searched the forums and couldn't find clear instructions on how to get the Harmony 650 to replicate the long Home button press used on the original remote to access the pop-up menu on the Amazon Fire TV (1st Gen). After much trial and error I finally manged to do this and thought I'd share the process to help anyone else may want to get this working. Here goes... I attached a standard keyboard to the Fire TV's USB port and discovered that a combination of Left Windows key+Left Alt key+Enter key would activate the pop-up menu. I then attached the Flirc to the Fire TV's USB port and used the Full Keyboard Controller configuration to map these keys to a key on an 'old' remote I no longer use. I tested this using the 'old' remote by holding down the 'mapped' button and it activated the pop-up menu. I then used this key on the 'old' remote to map the the command to "Long Home Press" in the Flirc Media Player on the 650. However, selecting the Long Home Press on the 650 just behaved like the Home button! In order to get this "Long Home Press" to work I had to go into the Flirc Media Player's Power settings and enter the "Long Home Press" as the power on/off command with a duration of 2secs. I then selected the Long Home Press again in the Flirc Media Player on the 650 again, and it successfully activated the pop-up menu. I hope anyone trying to configure the 650 to enable the pop-up menu on the Amazon Fire TV 1st Gen finds this useful. Cheers
  3. I'm cross-posting this from Reddit as I still haven't been able to figure this out. I have an Nvidia Shield 2017 setup with Flirc and my Harmony 650 remote. After a bunch of messing around, I finally got the remote working exactly as expected in all the apps I use. However, there is one weird issue that I haven't been able to track down an answer to. If my system is in an off state (tv off, receiver off and shield in sleep or on mode), and on my harmony remote I hit "Watch TV", everything starts up as expected. Only problem is, none of the buttons to control the shield will work immediately. Over the next couple of minutes, more and more buttons will start to work. First the arrow keys will work after a minute or so, a minute later the ok button will start working, etc etc. I haven't timed it exactly, but it could be up to 5 minutes before all the buttons are working as expected. Once it's on, everything works fine until I power off and try the 'watch tv' again. In the meantime, if I hit "Watch TV" on the remote, the shield remote and controller will work fine despite the harmony not working yet. It's very strange. Has anyone seen this? Any suggestions on where to look? I haven't provided exact details on exactly how I have everything configured, but can provide details if necessary. I originally had the Flirc key plugged into a USB hub that went into the shield, I've since moved it to plug directly in, but no change.
  4. Hi there! I purchased a Flirc USB 2nd genI have a desktop PC and a HTPC that I intend to use the Flirc on, both are running Windows 10. For this convo, I'll only bring up the desktop PC, but it is has an ASRock FM2A75M Pro4+ mother board. How do I go about syncing my logitech Harmony 650 to this device and using the Flirc/Harmony 650 to power on my PC (not from sleep, that is)? I believe that the BIOS options for power to the USBs is currently on, is there a way to verify that? I also activated the 'powering on by USB keyboard/mouse' in BIOS, but that still didn't help. Is there a proper model number for the Flirc? I have tried the help here: https://support.flirc.tv/hc/en-us/articles/200712568-Logitech-Harmony-Remotes, but it doesn't seem to work... Can I get some help? Is there a simple walk-through for this? I've tried all of the Flirc commonly available FAQs and topics, but they don't seem to work. Thanks ahead of time!
  5. Hey all, i am hoping you can help me with something. I recently had to reset my Win 10 HTPC and since then when I am in KODI using my Harmony 650 the play & pause button no longer work. I have to use the center "Select" or "OK" button on my remote to bring up the menu at the bottom of the video where I can play/plause by hitting "OK" again on my remote. Anyone have any advice why the play/pause would stop working? I am on the most recent stable build of KODI, have the most recent firmware for FLIRC and have tried re-syncing my remote with the harmony software using the XBMC profile in the harmony software. Also I have tried mapping the play/pause key in the FLIRC software to the play/pause buttons but it says that they already exist so I am at a loss as to what to try now. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks
  6. Hi all, I recently purchased a Flirc Gen 2 and have been trying to set it up on a new Windows 10 HTPC with Kodi. I also have another HTPC, a Zbox, that came with a remote and IR receiver, which is my frame of reference. I can currently do the following with the Zbox and a Harmony 650 remote: navigate the start menu in Tablet Mode with the 650put the computer to sleep and wake itnavigate KodiThe Zbox has a profile in the Harmony database (not sure if that matters). My hope was that I could replicate the same functions with the Flirc and my new HTPC. However, I run into the following issues with various Harmony profiles: Microsoft Kodi: can navigate start menu, but missing play, pause, stop, etc. buttons for Kodi. Will not put the computer to sleep or wake it.Flirc Kodi: cannot navigate start menu, but all buttons mapped properly for Kodi and work once Kodi is launched. Cannot sleep or wake the computer either. My other issue is that although the Flirc has perfect line of sight to the remote, yet it is either laggy or won't register a remote press at times. The Flirc itself installed just fine, no driver issues, and the firmware even updated at first boot of the software.Thoughts from those with more experience than I? Should I just be trying to find an RC6 receiver...did I misunderstand the features of the Flirc or how it interfaces with the computer? Thanks for any help!
  7. I am brand new to this forum and have not read any postings of yet but wanted to share my experience using the Flirc with the Fire TV and Harmony 650. Some time ago I purchased an Amazon Fire TV and Flirc USB primarily to use with the Playstation Vue service. While I was very familiar with the Harmony 650 there were no instructions with the Flirc so it was an exercise in discovery to figure out how to program the remote to work with it. When adding a device to the Harmony remote you need to give it a brand and then a model number. After some experimentation, I learned that I needed to enter a brand of "Flirc" and a model number of "Fire TV". Once I programmed my activities and customized my buttons and screens all was good! A couple weeks later I purchased another Amazon Fire TV and Flirc. I went through the same procedures but found that everything worked except the "Home" button. I then tried using the "problem remote" with the older Fire TV and it worked fine. I then put the new Flirc in the older Fire TV and it would not recognize the "Home" button! I downloaded and installed the Flirc software on my computer and looked for a firmware update. Buried under Advanced in the Flirc software I found the option to force a firmware update. I noted that both Flircs were at firmware version 3.6. I updated the new Flirc to 3.8 and the "Home" button worked! I then updated the older Flirc for good measure. Hope this helped someone!
  8. Both remotes have some issues with the Flirc software. Here's a summary of what I've found so far: Remote of the Harmony Companion Buttons that are read as duplicates: Exit and Back/Previous Channel. Guide and OK (button in center of D-pad). Buttons that don't get read: Menu, Source, E, DVR and Record. Buttons of the Harmony 650 Buttons that are read as duplicates: Guide and OK (button in center of D-pad). Buttons that don't get read: Back/Previous Channel, Menu, Source, E, and Record. I've found a workaround for these issues though. I'm currently using my telecom provider's TV remote (but any random remote will most likely work as well), and go through all the commands to see which get picked up by the Flirc software. I then teach the commands that work to my Harmony remotes, and bind the learned commands to the buttons that had an unrecognized signal. Still, I have to express this: as Flirc company states that... ...my solution in this context is not a pretty one. Having such flaws is excusable if it were pertaining to any random X brand remote, but considering my issues are in regards to remotes of a company that Flirc have been partners with for quite a while, this is definitely not. I'd kindly like to suggest to refine the support of at least the 650 and Companion (I say at least, as I don't know if other Harmony remotes suffer from the same issues). The suggestions for refinement are: Let the software be able to recognize all buttons from these remotes (not just the ones that you've pre-programmed), and make sure that each button is read as unique.Talk to Logitech to expand support on their side as well. Their button layout is not a carbon copy of your Kodi layout. For instance: 'Home' is called 'Back' in the Harmony software (goes for both remotes, as well as well as the virtual remote in the Harmony app). And some buttons are missing: for example there's no button present in the Harmony software that represents the functionality of the 'Go Back' button in the Kodi layout.
  9. Hi folks Recently purchased a Flirc USB device to enable me to pair my 2nd Generation FireTV Box with my Logitech Harmony 650 remote. By trawling this forum I have been able to replicate all the FireTV remote commands bar one. With the FireTV remote, an extended press on the Home button reveals a hidden menu. This menu displays the current time and three on screen buttons. These buttons select Sleep, Mirroring and Settings respectively. A long press on the corresponding Home button on the Logitech 650 remote does not reveal this menu. Has any forum member managed to mimic the long Home press command of the FireTV remote using the Flirc app? I would appreciate help with this problem.
  10. Hello everyone, First let me say how excited I was to find this site. I have been searching for a solution to use a remote for my HTPC and this seemed perfect. This is a great device WHEN it works correctly. After having issues upgrading the firmware and I finally got the remote everything seemed smooth sailing. After two days Flirc goes CRAZY on XBMC and send repeated key presses that can only be remedied by unplugging the USB and plugging it back in. I read through the forums and messed with the advanced settings according to suggestions given by Jason. I tried different Inter-Key Delays with a combination of checking the Noise Canceler option. After going back and forth and changing options I'll finally get it to work. A day goes by and it goes crazy again and back to playing with the settings. Please tell me there's a solution for this. I checked the remote and it is NOT sending multiple IR signals. I checked using my camera phone. This is a GREAT product but it has way too many bugs to go into distribution. I'm sad to say if I can't get this to work I'm going to have to issue an RMA :( Specs: - Windows 7 Professional 64-bit - Flirc w/ Firmware 2.4 - Harmony 650 remote Thanks!
  11. I can see a lot of info on here regarding the Harmony 650 so apologies for starting another thread but I have had no useful success following any of the advice. I currently use an old Sky remote with FLIRC to control XBMC and all works great but I invested in the Harmony so I could also control other hifi boxes and turn off all the system at once. However, its not working half as well as the old remote did. I'm using 2.6 stable version on Ubuntu 64bit. I've chosen allow built in profiles in the advanced settings which is the closest thing I can find to all the mentions on here of a Harmony profile being built into FLIRC post 2.4 builds? Where is this? Is it something that has to be chosen?? I've then proceeded to add all my devices to the Harmony and chosen a Media Centre PC with Flirc build and XBMC model. Firing up XBMC at this stage is a bit of a let down. The direction buttons, number buttons, play / pause and info buttons work but most of the rest do nothing. Most importantly neither the back or exit buttons do anything so you cannot get out of menus in XBMC or clear the screen. However, there is a back shortcut on the LCD activity display that works but thats pretty useless when I have a back button one push away on the remote itself! I've then tried going into FLIRC and reprogramming some of the buttons without much success. Some buttons will record with no problem. Others just simply won't record. 'Back' on the remote won't do anything when trying to record to it. I also wanted, as on the sky remote, to programme keyboard letter E to the 'TV Guide' remote button so it brings up the EPG in XBMC but again nothing happens when pressing it to record a button to it. This is also the same for the red, blue, yellow, green 'colour' buttons that I used on the other remote for TV / Radio / Recordings / Timer screens. I choose the letter in full keyboard view that launches those screens in XBMC but nothing happens when I press them on the remote to record. I've read that they have to have functions assigned to them in Harmony for it to be programmable in FLIRC and ive double checked this and they do indeed have functions assigned. I then tried using the latest beta RC candidate listed here: to see if this would improve the situation but unfortunately I cannot run it on 64bit linux as it looks for shared library files that cannot be found. Is there a 64bit build available? Will it actually improve the situation any if there is? Any help greatly appreciated!
