Flirc has a hidden method for sending HID Consumer (page 12) codes: flirc_util record_api x 102 where x is in decimal flirc_util record_api 2 x where x is in hexadecimal The first method is only documented in @yawor's forum post; the second is not documented anywhere except sort of in one comment by @jseymour. I tried every value for x from 0 to 0x29c (668 decimal), the highest listed in the HID documentation, to to see which ones cause Nvidia Shield TV to do things. Each is listed with the Android KEYCODE the resulting Flirc binding produced in Button Mapper. (The Flirc codes do not match Android keycodes' numbers.) I identified the corresponding keycodes based on what they caused Shield to do. Other Flirc codes may not generate Android keycodes but still do things that I did not notice. I hope @jason will implement the ability to use flirc_util record_api in long press and/or macro, and perhaps other HID tables and/or true Android keycodes. The latter would obviate the need for apps like Button Mapper to convert HID codes to Android counterparts. Until then, what is this list useful for today? Many of the Flirc codes produce bindings already available for use via the GUI or command line utilities. My remote has separate Play and Pause buttons, and I do prefer to bind the former to MEDIA_PLAY (not in GUI or command line utilities) and the latter to MEDIA_PLAY_PAUSE (which is). Otherwise, unused keybindings can be used in Button Mapper, or Keyboard/Button Mapper, to open specified apps or other duties .
  2. I've used the same universal IR remote for years, and continue to use it with my 2017 Nvidia Shield TV via Flirc. The remote does not have a microphone, but it is still possible to use voice search. Mic: All Nvidia remotes and game controllers have microphones. I use a PlayStation 3 Eye USB webcam. It is available for $8 new at Amazon; I bought mine for $2 used from GameStop. Be aware of how Shield prefers Nvidia microphones. Remote: Android keycode 84, KEYCODE_SEARCH, triggers Shield's voice search. Flirc can't send this natively as far as I know, whether through its standard keyboard mapping or the hidden HID Consumer Table codes. Using flirc_util record_macro 128 0 I instead have Flirc trained to send the right Windows key, Android keycode META_RIGHT. The key itself isn't important; choose one that is redundant (the left Windows key does the same thing as the right, and this way I can trigger voice search when using a real keyboard) or unused. Two ways to convert this binding to KEYCODE_SEARCH on Shield: Button Mapper (on Play Store): Advanced | Custom keycode (ver 2) | 84 Keyboard/Button Mapper (on Play Store, but needs sideloading for Shield TV): Choose Action | Key Code | KEYCODE_SEARCH KEYCODE_SEARCH behaves differently depending on context. In voice search-aware apps (Example: YouTube), it searches within the app itself. In the Android TV launcher, and non voice search-aware apps (Example: Prime Video), it activates the general Google Assistant voice search.1 Nothing happens in some apps (Example: Reelgood). Optional: In Button Mapper I have the same key open Assistant when long pressed, to invoke Google Assistant voice search no matter where I am: Actions | Assistant, then More Options | disable Alternate assistant.   3. i need help with converting keybord key set scan code into the flirc. i try to search the answer on the internet ,but i didnt find it. by searching the web i found out that the require operation is by the combination fn+F7 (SCAN CODE 165) . on android that should do the home key combnation better then alt+esc. how i attach it to flirc?
  4. Hi, just got my Flirc today and have setup my remote controller pretty well (the online instructions are very clear!). I'm using it with a Minix U9-H Android media center, primarily using Kodi. There are three buttons I don't know how to assign though: 1) Android Home button (to return me all the way back to Android's Home screen with one press) 2) Android Power button (to bring up standby/shutdown menu - I suspect this menu is controlled by a system app) 3) Mouse button (to activate the on-screen mouse pointer) I have plugged in a regular keyboard and tried all of the keys but none of them correspond, so I couldn't assign buttons for those functions. The regular Minix I/R remote has dedicated buttons for the first two of those functions, but no mouse button - Minix only provides a mouse button via their 2.4GHz remotes, not on the standard I/R remote. Is it possible to assign at least the first two functions? I'm hoping there might be an easy way. But if not, would there be a way to somehow replicate the I/R codes that the Minix remote uses for Power and Home, in order to program them into Flirc? Thanks.
  5. Can I use a Flirc with my android Kodi boxes. This would allow me to use the same remote (Direct TV which my wife and I love) for all of the Kodi boxes in the house?
  6. need to add android menu keys support. the arrow keys work and so the ok\enter after config it to kodi but the android home key is nessery if the app stack and doesnt respond .
  7. Just ordered one of these bad boys to use with my Nexus Player with kodi. As much as I love the big Atlas remotes they have way too many buttons I'll never use. I'll be on the hunt for a replacement soon I think. My setup is only the nexus player for use with kodi (downloads, recorded shows, OTA with mythtv addon) and netflix, no cable. I'm still trying to figure out how many buttons I'd actually like ha ha. Being a long time user of xbmc on my original xbox I loved the game controller setup so perhaps I'll try to find a remote with the same number of buttons. Hardest part is finding a universal remote that doesn't have those useless number buttons.
  8. Hi, I bought and installed an Android double DIN car stereo. It has a touch screen and runs Android 4.1.1. The only drawback is that it has no IR receiver. It does have USB ports however. Has anyone tried receiving IR signals with FLIRC on an Android device? (I noticed that there is no FLIRC app for android so I am not sure whether it would work). Cheers, Eoin
  9. Hi I have a media player that runs android and I want to use the FLIRC to control it. it works fine when the player is on, but when it goes to sleep, I can't wake it up with the FLIRC. If I connect a keyboard and then let it go to sleep, I can keep the Enter key pressed for a short while (2-3 seconds) and then the player wakes up again. Is there a way I can emulate that with a IR command? And what would I need to do in the FLIRC settings? I hope someone here has a good idea what I can try :)
